[07:00] gg === wet-chan is now known as wet === Guest7118 is now known as Computron_ [18:38] 안녕하세요~ [18:49] 안녕하세요 [18:50] '-';; [18:50] I actually can't speak Korean much [18:50] but i'm moving to Korea later this year [18:50] and i wondered what the Ubuntu usage was like in Korea [18:50] I see. You're going to work there? [18:51] yeah [18:51] i'm busy preparing the documents for my visa now [18:51] Well, actually ubuntu is not popular that much you're thinking. [18:51] i assumed that :p [18:51] because none of my Korean friends know about Ubuntu -.- [18:51] but they're not really tech junkies :p [18:51] if they are not computer guys. [18:52] haha, yea [18:52] :p [18:52] are there ever any Ubuntu events there? [18:52] and i'm pretty sure that you would install windows on your compuer. [18:52] like loco events or so [18:52] i wouldn't :) [18:52] yes, we have ubuntu korean locoteam. [18:52] I've been using Ubuntu for 4 years now, and i hate Microsoft very much haha [18:53] cool :) [18:53] I bet most of the things happen in Seoul though.. [18:53] https://www.facebook.com/groups/ubuntu.ko/ and http://ubuntu.or.kr [18:53] i'll be going to Busan '-'v [18:53] but you should know korean language. [18:53] 응 [18:53] 공부해요 ,_,ㅍ [18:53] cool [18:53] I want to take lessons there [18:53] if i have time [18:54] many korean people want "Language Swap". [18:54] yup [18:54] well, i'll be teaching English [18:54] so that will be easy for me [18:54] you're not going to have problems with it. [18:54] oh i see. [18:54] still, i'd like formal Korean lessons [18:54] so that I can learn the grammar properly [18:55] annnnnnyway :) that will come later [18:55] i'm just happy to see an Ubuntu loco there '-' [18:56] yes, but they are pretty much busy. [18:56] that's okay :) [18:56] we seldom have a monthly meeting. [18:56] i will be very busy myself [18:56] not a problem :) [18:56] just nice to meet other Ubuntu users, that's all :) [18:56] cool [18:57] We're not very active in #ubuntu-za either [18:57] we have our monthly meetings, but that's about it [18:58] the ubuntu community is very small here [18:58] that's better than here. #ubuntu-hi has had no activities for a couple of years. [18:58] ubuntu-us-hi [18:58] where's that? [18:59] Hawaii [18:59] aha [18:59] well, i'm not so surprised [18:59] everybody uses MS windows and doesn't want to use Linux. [18:59] in Hawaii? [18:59] heh [18:59] I was very disappointed. [18:59] haha [18:59] yeah, i have a lot of friends that disappoint me [18:59] fortunately, my boss loves linux, lol [19:00] and hardware vendors do, too [19:00] cool :) [19:00] what's the tech scene like in Korea? I've been to 영산 a few times, it's quite nice but i wonder if there are any annual events [19:00] like technology shows [19:01] 용산. We korean people call it, "Dungeon". [19:01] ahh, yeah :) [19:01] my spelling in Korean is bad -.- [19:01] it's a big big computer and electric devices market. [19:02] yeah [19:02] i bought an SSD there last year :) [19:02] because it's cheaper in Korea than in Africa [19:02] i see. [19:02] but, you will get them from online because, korean shipping system is the best in this universe. [19:02] hahaha [19:03] you're going to get whatever you order, next day. [19:03] my friends said so, but i only had a few days of vacation left, so i just bought it there to ensure i got it before coming home [19:03] oh [19:03] i assume everyone in this channel speaks Korean here [19:03] that's why YongSan dungeon has been collapsed. [19:03] so maybe i will just lurk ,_,v [19:04] i see [19:04] yea, everyone speaks korean except a few. [19:04] no problem :) [19:04] that's more motivation for me to learn it '-'v [19:04] good :) [19:05] did you know Daum or Naver? [19:05] yeah [19:05] but i've never used them [19:05] i used maps.naver when i was in Korea quite a bit [19:05] ok. they are the most popular korean portal website. [19:05] they provide english translated webpages. [19:06] oh'-' [19:06] that's useful for me [19:06] endic.naver.com - kor-eng dictionary. [19:06] or engdic.daum.net [19:06] i use google translate a lot, but it's really bad at Korean [19:06] they are two-way translating dic. you can type either kor or eng on them. [19:07] yes, but that's not a google's problem. [19:07] korean language is hard to translate to english, grammatically, i think. [19:07] yeah [19:08] it's agglutinating [19:08] and there are so many different forms -.- [19:08] i've not looked much at grammar yet [19:08] just some easy expressions [19:08] but if you're fluent in korean language, you will get japanese language very easily. [19:08] and i've learnt 한글 '-' [19:08] oh 'o' [19:09] oh yeah, a lot of the grammar is similar [19:09] like using verbs as adjectives [19:09] very similar and have a lot of same words. [19:09] (if i'm not mistaken) [19:09] nice :) [19:09] do you know what the "가방 mean? [19:09] well, my brother lives in Japan [19:09] bag [19:09] right? [19:09] yes, and same with japanese language [19:09] wow :) [19:10] 감사합니다, 선셍님~ [19:10] haha, not a prob. [19:10] '-'; [19:10] https://www.facebook.com/jswlinux [19:11] this is my fb page [19:11] oh, i'm not on FB at the moment [19:11] i deactivated my account .-. [19:11] you're on LInkedIn then? [19:11] nope [19:11] nothing really [19:11] ok, that's fine, haha [19:12] Google+, but i don't use it [19:12] haha [19:12] i just use email at the moment >.< [19:12] and IRC <3 [19:12] https://coe.hawaii.edu/directory/index.php?person=seowon [19:12] you can see this my page, haha [19:12] but I'll reactivate my FB account and clean it out later this year [19:12] oh, are you in Hawaii? [19:12] yes, i told you :p [19:13] very cool :) [19:13] well, you said that people in Hawaii use Windows etc etc. [19:13] I actually wondered why you suddenly mentioned Hawaii [19:13] I also wondered why you're at work at 4 am, so this explains a lot :p [19:14] oh, haha. i came to here and saw people not use linux. so i was very disappointed. [19:14] that's sad :D [19:14] i've not got any close friends that use it here either [19:15] when Ubuntu is popular they will realise how nice it is :) [19:15] i will forgive them then [19:16] haha yea.. [19:16] you know that korean people love games, right? [19:17] so we have to use windows, lol [19:18] haha [19:18] I like retro games [19:18] and Linux is just fine for that [19:18] I think the mobile market is also really eating into Microsofts market :p [19:20] if you like playing online games, you can't leave korea. haha [19:20] haha [19:21] I don't want to get into online gaming [19:21] my life would be over :) [19:21] absolutely. [19:22] I recently bought the Humble Indie Bundle 8 [19:22] it's nice :) [19:22] that's enough gaming for me for a few years [19:22] haha [19:22] i'd better get to bed [19:22] yea, linux guys love humble bundles. [19:23] ok. [19:23] it's 21:22 here and I get up at 04:45 every day [19:23] nice meeting you :) [19:23] have a g'night [19:23] and thank you for your hospitality :) [19:23] nice to meet you , too:) [19:23] I shall return to this channel sometime'-' [19:23] 안녕~ [19:23] not a problem. whenever you want. [19:23] bye
