TobyKI can help debug this issue if someone wants me to try anything :)09:50
om26erA recent change in some lower level component broke our autopilot. If the shell is killed and we run our test suite only the first test passes all others fail09:52
om26erit seems the app textures are not destroyed and it remains visible on screen even if the process is killed.09:53
om26ermzanetti Saviq ^09:54
mzanettiom26er: right.. I've seen that too yesterday09:55
om26ertests pass if the shell is running with screen unlocked, but if the shell is killed (phablet-test-run -n) tests fail09:55
mzanettiSaviq: do you know where that comes from?09:55
mzanettigreyback might be able to help here ^09:55
mzanettigreyback: we have the issue that we can't run autopilot tests for apps when the shell is running because they are started minimized09:56
mzanettigreyback: now, stopping the shell is not an option any more because apps are stopped/hidden/whatever too09:56
mzanettiom26er: FYI, if we would have autopilot tests running on the phone in CI this change would not have made it into the release09:57
om26ermzanetti, you are right,  we are working on that.09:57
om26erwell we have the jobs there its just a matter of hooking it to -ci jobs09:58
greybackom26er: mzanetti: this is to test shell?09:58
mzanettigreyback: no, the apps mainly09:58
greybackmzanetti: would a testing shell not be best then? One which does not ensure newly opening apps go in from of shell, when shell doesn't expect it09:59
greybacks/from/front/10:00
mzanettigreyback: actually it would be best to run them with the real shell... but I opened a but in december that apps launched from command line should be opened in foreground and I seem to be alone with that opinion since then10:00
Saviqmzanetti, om26er no, first I've heard10:01
Saviqmzanetti, om26er ah10:01
Saviqmzanetti, om26er, that should be fixed in the most recent shell10:01
om26erSaviq, is that not released yet ?10:02
Saviqom26er, yes it is10:02
mzanettiSaviq: I flashed yesterday evening.10:02
mzanettiSaviq: I can see this behaviour since then10:02
mzanettilet me try to flash again10:02
greybackinteresting, let me see10:03
Saviqmzanetti, and if you go `webbrowser-app --desktop_file_hint=/usr/share/applications/webbrowser-app.desktop`10:03
om26erSaviq, last one from phablet-team ppa is 33hours hold, and I have that installed10:03
Saviqom26er, and if you do ↑ that the app launches minimized?10:03
mzanettiSaviq: then its minimized in the apps lens10:03
Saviqlaunches full-screen here...10:03
mzanettiSaviq: without the --dekstop_file_hint its not showing up at all10:04
Saviqmzanetti, yes, that's required10:04
mzanettiSaviq: yeah... I think there is some certain circumstance where it actually works... but not always10:04
om26erSaviq, no in that case it opens in the front10:04
Saviqit even focuses over a previous app here10:04
* Saviq reads again10:05
om26erSaviq, as I said if the shell is running and greeter is unlocked tests run fine.. but if the shell is killed they don't10:05
ogra_rsalveti, did you have a chance to test manta yesterday ?10:05
Saviqmzanetti, your translation was wrong ;P10:05
Saviqmzanetti, it's when the shell _isn't_ running10:05
mzanettiSaviq, om26er: this seems to work now mostly10:09
mzanettiI just launched 3 apps from command line and the first 2 of them actually showed up in foreground10:09
mzanettiIf there are already minimized apps running, running another one from the command line brings the wrong one to the foreground10:09
Saviqom26er, I can't reproduce, I stopped the shell (and removed from /etc/device-services)10:10
Saviqom26er, and all the apps I start / stop go away10:10
Saviqom26er, and well, it's unrelated to the shell - it'd have to be the app manager in qtubuntu10:11
mzanettiom26er: anyways, in general you should work towards the goal that the shell is running during the autopilot tests10:12
mzanettiom26er: so instead of using -n you probably want to import the shells autopilot helpers and call unlock the greeter before running the apps tests10:13
om26erSaviq, right, i see the issue on two devices, you have the latest image ?10:13
om26erSaviq, who should I contact for qtubuntu ?10:14
Saviqom26er, ricmm10:14
Saviqmzanetti, can you file a bug for the wrong app comes to front issue?10:14
mzanettiSaviq: sure10:14
om26ermzanetti, there is a way to unlock the shell? I though that needed some help from mir et al10:14
Saviqom26er, just drag from the right :)10:15
mzanettiom26er: lp:unity/8.0/tests/autopilot/unity8/tests/helpers.py: unlock_greeter()10:15
om26ermzanetti, it would definitely make more sense to run our tests while the shell is running as that's our target10:15
mzanettiom26er: if you want to reuse that you might need to depend on unity8-autopilot in the app's autopilot packages10:16
mzanettiom26er: also I'm not sure how to connect to 2 different autopilot interfaces in 1 test suite (the shell and the app). you might want to talk to veebers or thomi about that10:16
mzanettiSaviq: what component is it actually that I should report the bug for?10:21
Saviqmzanetti, it's most probably the app manager, so touch-preview-images and assign ricmm10:22
mzanettiSaviq: cheers10:22

Saviqom26er, found it16:07
Saviqom26er, it should be handled via upstart16:07
Saviqom26er, but then it could fail to start if it finds an instance already16:08
Saviqom26er, file a bug against unity/8.0 please?16:08
om26erSaviq, yes will do. if the shell is already running it should be killed and a new instance shall be started. that's pretty much what we have in desktop unity right now16:09
Saviqom26er, only with --replace16:09
Saviqom26er, by default it would just fail to start16:09
Saviqom26er, but that, IMO, should be handled via upstart16:09

Saviqom26er, I don't want to build such functionality into unity8, hardly feels like the right place...16:10

* ogra_ hopes he has alll now16:24
ogra_awe, see if that fixes it16:24
Joe_BIn the qtcreator, why is it supported platforms seems to list only desktop for everything? is there an example touch app in there?16:25
aweogra_, it's not radio ownership that's the issue.16:25
aweI'll give it a try, but am not optimistic16:25
aweI'm also going to re-flash non-flipped to do some more poking around16:26
ogra_well, we were missing all the permissions for these devices (along with the ownership)16:26
aweI'll try...but don't think it'll solve the problem16:27
aweogra_, so is the plan to just add all this stuff into one giant android udev rule???16:33
aweogra_, wouldn't it make sense to create rules files for each device?16:34
ogra_awe, yeah, and a generic android rule16:34
ogra_for now one giant one will do though16:34
ogra_but yeah, i didnt plan to keep it that way :)16:34
aweso will we try and split before we make flipped the default, and or will we flip and then try and break apart?16:35

ogra_i would filp first16:35
aweogra_, do you have a blueprint you're working off of?16:36
ogra_nope16:36

ogra_there was a flipping BP ... but that was a0 pretty sparse on WIs and b) owned by pat16:36
aweogra_, hmmmm... you might want to discuss with ChickenCutlass then.  seems like thi sia something easily lost16:36
* ogra_ doubts that given we need to find a proper way for ports anyway ... but yeah, we might want to create a container-flip-cleanup BP16:37

popeyvthompson: i suspect sergiusens or ricmm can answer questions related to that21:19
popeyor rsalveti21:19
vthompsonrsalveti, sergiusens, or ricmm  there are currently two packages in the PPA for the Nemo Folderlistmodel QML plugin that music-app and ubuntu-filemanager-app use.  qtdeclarative5-nemo-qml-plugins-folderlistmodel is the older plugin (ubuntu-filemanager-app still depends on this, but I have a merge proposal to change this). qtdeclarative5-nemo-qml-plugin-folderlistmodel is the newer package that music-app depends on. When21:23
vthompsonubuntu-filemanager-app changes to depend on the latter, the image will need to have that package21:23
mhall119why the name change?21:36
rsalvetirickspencer3: I know Saviq was working in a few fixes for the shell21:42
rsalvetiblack screen and also into the installed apps issue (blank icons)21:43
rsalvetivthompson: right, and where is the new package?21:43
vthompsonmhall119, name change was *probably* because the set of Nemo plugins were split up. Now we only need the Folderlistmodel.21:47
vthompsonrsalveti, the package is in the PPA as nemo-qml-plugin-folderlistmodel21:48
rsalvetivthompson: in the core apps ppa?21:48
rsalvetiif so, the image will already use that21:49
vthompsonthe older plugin was under nemo-qml-plugins. It hasn't been built since March21:49
vthompsonYep21:49
vthompsonThe PPA also has "nemo-qml-plugins" I think there's a conflict21:49
vthompsonI don't see the new version in the manifests.21:50
vthompsonIs it because ubuntu-filemanager-app depends on the old plugin still? Will this be automatically fixed when they change their dependency?21:51
vthompsonmusic-app isn't get built into the image yet, so nothing in the image depends on the newer plugin.21:52
rsalvetiright, yeah, just change the dependency for the file manager21:53
vthompsonCool, glad to hear it'll be transparent21:53
vthompsonrsalveti, thanks for your help!21:53
rsalvetiit should, if not, just ping me21:53
vthompsonI'll check the manifests once the update is in the PPA21:54
vthompsonOn a related note, how do we get music-app to get built into the images?21:55
rsalvetiguess first thing is getting an approval from mhall11922:00
rsalvetiand popey22:01
rsalvetithen just create a bug against https://launchpad.net/touch-preview-images and assign it to me or sergiusens22:01
vthompsonrsalveti, gotcha thanks22:03
mhall119vthompson: rsalveti: is it functionally ready enough to be included in the daily device images?22:07
mhall119I don't have audio on my N7, so I can't verify22:07

Saviqmhall119, freq is relatively easy, we need to start reporting data to zeitgeist (we decided for the upstart job to do it)22:24
Saviqmhall119, then pick it up from there22:24
Saviqmhall119, drag'n'drop... we can do it within the shell relatively easy as well, mzanetti is working on that within the launcher, should be relatively easy to add dragging from dash to launcher22:25
Saviqmhall119, but then we have to see whether the system-wide d'n'd support in the platform happens in the mean time22:26
Saviqmhall119, which would be better to use, because it wouldn't be something internal to the shell22:27
Saviqmhall119, and would get us closer to d'n'd items onto launcher shortcuts22:27
Saviqto open22:27
Saviqmhall119, that said, that's not something we're actively working on now, but it's on various TODOs22:28
mhall119Saviq: ok, thanks22:32
mfischChickenCutlass: is this coming from hybris? It's new in powerd (for me): =============> Skipping libc.so22:32
mhall119I used to have a patched launcher file, but it was such a pain to replace it every time I phablet-flased22:32
Saviqmhall119, oh, that's gonna happen quicker22:34
Saviqmhall119, it's gonna be a dconf-key away22:34
Saviqmhall119, mzanetti and Wellark are working on that ~now22:35
rsalvetimfisch: yes, and was removed with latest hybris already22:36
mfischrsalveti: thx22:36
mhall119Saviq: ah, that would be nice, so it'll persist as long as /home/phablet does22:52
Saviqmhall119, yup, so phablet-flash should be fine22:52
Saviqmhall119, only -b would be bad22:52
Saviqmhall119, but then the flipped container image is coming, when -b becomes only a first-time exercise22:52
mhall119ah, nice, Android updates without over-writing Ubuntu stuff22:55
