robert_ancellRAOF, ping22:56
RAOFrobert_ancell: Pong.23:15
robert_ancellRAOF, can I get you to review https://code.launchpad.net/~robert-ancell/lightdm/unity-assign-usc-vt/+merge/170729, https://code.launchpad.net/~robert-ancell/lightdm/unity-drop-mir-dep/+merge/170731, https://code.launchpad.net/~robert-ancell/lightdm/unity-compositor-command/+merge/170734 and update the system-compositor PPA once at least the first MP lands?23:16
robert_ancellRAOF, also, is there anything in particular about updating the system-compositor PPA - do I just copy packages over if they need updating? Do you rebuild when copying? Or do you prefer to be the gatekeeper for it?23:17
RAOFrobert_ancell: Certainly.23:17
robert_ancellRAOF, also, anything I can do to help solve the mesa i386 issue?23:17
RAOFrobert_ancell: Is there a mesa i386 issue? The only one I was aware of was “Mir doesn't build on i386 in the PPA”, which tvoss has some MPs for.23:19
robert_ancellRAOF, oh, odd. The PPA is just showing mesa not build for i386, but when you expand the mir entry it also hasn't built23:20
robert_ancellIt's a hidden build failure :)23:20
RAOFIt's because the i386 builds have all been cancelled, because they hang in the testsuite.23:20
robert_ancellah23:21
robert_ancellRAOF, I'm not seeing any branches or bugs from tvoss for that23:23
RAOFLet me check that mail again...23:23
RAOFAh. I guess the “preparing” in his mail is present continuous.23:25
robert_ancellCan you forward it to me?23:27
RAOFrobert_ancell: Enjoy!23:30
robert_ancellhmm, not sure exactly what the issue is there. Guess will have to wait for the branches23:33
robert_ancellthomi, are you back?23:36
thomirobert_ancell: yup23:37
robert_ancell\o/ welcome back23:38
thomirobert_ancell: thanks, it was an interesting return trip23:38
robert_ancell?23:38
thomiI was evacuated from my house by the fire dept at 5AM the morning after I got back. Then had to spend the entire weekend moving house23:38
thomiso... kinda stressfull23:38
robert_ancellyeah!23:38
thomibut I have Internet, power, and food - what more could you need?23:39
thomiI noticed that the mir docs weren't being uploaded, and fixed that thir morning.23:39
thomiare there any other developments I should know about?23:39
robert_ancellah, nice23:39
RAOFthomi: Did you at least get an amusing anecdote out of the 5am evacuation?23:41
robert_ancellthomi, I got the lightdm tests building on the CI, but they seem to fail in the PPA builders - any easy way of debugging stuff like that? Or is that outside what you manage?23:41
thomiRAOF: not really :-(23:42
thomirobert_ancell: let me guess: failing for ARM only?23:42
robert_ancellthomi, no, It was either amd64 or i386 or both (can't remember off hand)23:42
robert_ancellSomething must be different in their environment23:42
thomioh23:43
robert_ancellI was planning on just bashing a PPA with debugging to find out, but that has awful turnaround. I did that to Jenkins and at least I could turn around builds every 15 mins or so23:43
thomiwhich PPA is it? I can take a look, although I can't promise to be able to fix whatever is wrong - the launchpad builders are outside our control.23:43
thomiotherwise, maybe ask on #launchpad-ops23:44
thomithe build environment should be pretty standard I would have thought23:44
thomicertainly on jenkins it builds inside a standard chroot23:44
RAOFYeah, that's what tvoss did to debug the i386 hangs - if you ask very nicely you can apparently get them to attach gdb to things for you.23:44
robert_ancellthomi, It was the staging PPA, but I just disabled the tests for now (and then a bug got past because of it!). Haven't got the time at the moment to work it out23:44
robert_ancellRAOF, yeah, I saw that23:44
robert_ancellI wish there was an easy way to just ssh into a "standard build server" to manually test things23:45
thomirobert_ancell: me too23:45
thomithe PPA build infrastructure is rather awkward, IMO23:45
thomihmm, I note the last saucy armhf build failed23:46
robert_ancellRAOF, still looking at those other two MPs?23:46
RAOFYes. The second is approved.23:47
RAOFrobert_ancell: Do you deliberately ignore the vt option in the tests?23:48
robert_ancellRAOF, LP says no...23:48
RAOF+            //vt_number = atoi (argv[i+1]);23:48
robert_ancellRAOF, I did since it doesn't enact anything on it23:48
RAOFAh, ok.23:48
robert_ancellIt just stops the mock from exiting23:48
RAOFShould both be approved now.23:50
robert_ancellRAOF, https://code.launchpad.net/~robert-ancell/lightdm/unity-drop-mir-dep/+merge/170731 still showing no change23:50
robert_ancellRAOF, do you use the web interface or something else to approve them?23:51
RAOFWeb interface.23:51
RAOFAha.23:51
robert_ancelltimeout?23:51
RAOFThere were *3* MPs.23:51
RAOFThe middle one was hiding in between the outer two :)23:52
robert_ancellsneaky :)23:52
RAOF*Now* they are all done.23:54
robert_ancellRAOF, ta :)23:54
robert_ancellRAOF, so the next step - do I push them into the s-c-testing PPA once they're built? Just the copy with build?23:54
robert_ancellwith rebuild23:54
RAOFI just copy with rebuild.23:54
RAOFYou can push them directly if you like.23:55
RAOFActually, you can just copy *without* rebuild for lightdm.23:55
RAOFBecause it doesn't have any mir deps.23:55
RAOFOr, more specifically, it doesn't have any libmirserver deps.23:55
