[13:22] kaddi: #konversation may be able to help [13:22] ok, I will drop by there then :) [13:54] nobody there :p But I have time [14:04] hi there [14:05] hi [14:11] Hey! Is Kubuntu Active a supported Ubuntu flavor? [14:13] SonikkuAmerica, it is. [14:13] Ooh! I guess I need to update the wiki on flavors then... after all, Plasma Active != Plasma, at least strictly. [14:14] SonikkuAmerica, well it isn't an official FLAVOUR. [14:14] It is just a supported IMAGE. [14:14] Under Kubuntu, that is. [14:14] lol... IMAGE != FLAVO(U)R [14:15] SonikkuAmerica, of course. [14:15] Kubuntu is a flavour. [14:15] Kubuntu Active i386, Kubuntu Active armhf, Kubuntu Desktop i386, Kubuntu Desktop powerpc, Kubuntu Desktop amd64 are images. === serega is now known as Break_Stuff === scott__ is now known as Dragnslcr === twss is now known as away [17:44] hi, is there a way to boost audio output in kubuntu? [17:51] I don't think so [17:52] okay [17:52] there was a post on a blog on a plasmoid called veromix [17:52] i am trying that [17:57] oh [17:59] okay [17:59] veromix works [17:59] :) [17:59] gotta go [17:59] later [18:00] cool === rosco_away is now known as rosco_y [18:44] does anyone know of a utility for ubuntu which I could use to pick colors from my displays (i.e., a webpage in a browser) [18:51] rosco_y: Widget Color Picker [20:27] how can I upgrade kde-runtime ?I am using kubuntu 12.04 [20:28] stack__: upgrade to which version? [20:29] to the latest one so that import org.kde.locale shall work [20:29] @yofel I think 4.10 [20:29] stack__: http://www.kubuntu.org/news/kde-sc-4.10.4 [20:31] @yofel which one should I choose I am using kubuntu 12.04 [20:31] stack__: open konsole and run 'sudo apt-add-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports' [20:32] then search for updates and install them [20:32] search for update as in use sudo apt-get update? [20:34] yep [20:34] @yofel http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=UkPRbn1P sudo apt-get update will update to kde-runtime 4.10? [20:35] stack__: you'll additinally need to run 'sudo apt-get dist-upgrade' after that [20:35] be warned: that will remove a few packages, just kubuntu-desktop should not be one of that [20:35] ok sudo apt-get update then sudo apt-get dist-upgrade [20:36] so it may remove packages :/ how to ensure kubuntu-desktop is not one of that? [20:36] it will tell you what it does and asks you whether that's fine [20:37] before doing anything [20:41] @yofel I am getting this http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=qhdBYQ43 [20:42] stack__: that looks generally fine (except that you have another package manager running) [20:42] I wonder why it wants to remove libakonadi-dev though [20:44] i tried $ sudo rm /var/lib/dpkg/lock $ sudo dpkg --configure -a to remove lock but did not help .. [20:44] stack__: I would go ahead with that and reinstall libakonadi-dev if you need it later [20:44] stack__: different lock file [20:45] @yofel yeah ;p so I should do it? [20:45] well, nothing should break from my experience [20:48] cool between @yofel you are great ;p thanks [20:49] sure :) [20:49] @yofel are you doing gsoc ? [20:52] @yofel http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=1QRKV3Qh [20:53] stack__: thanks! please run dist-upgrade again which will work this time. If it complains, run 'sudo apt-get install -f' [20:53] I'll make sure that's fixed [20:55] after sudo apt-get install -f then i again have to use dist-upgrade ? [20:55] yes [20:56] @yofel http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=MSDbgXkN what should be done here? [20:58] hmmn? [20:58] if you don't remember editing it press 'I', otherwise just enter [21:03] Hi, does this setup works theoretically? Having win 7 (encrypted by truecrypt) installed on HDD X and Ubuntu installend on HDD Y without any kind of bootloader. And switch between the booting devices by selecting them in bios? Or could I get troubles with that? Thanks guys! [21:06] Just try if that works. Anyway, if you choose in bios hdd x, hdd x still need a bootloader to load system from it. [21:08] @yofel Thank you :) But now plasmoidviewer is not installed [21:09] simon__: so theoretically you need two bootloaders on each hdd. Never did it though [21:09] @simon__ may be try virtual box if you are confused with it [21:09] stack__: please install the 'plasmate' package, it was moved there [21:11] of course i need two ones for each hdd one, but i dont want to interfere in some way with the truecrypt bootloader by installing kubuntu with attached truecrypt HDD [21:23] plasmoidviewer is giving blank screen even on working plasmoids now @yofel [21:23] o.O [21:23] any errors when you run it from konsole? === rosco_y is now known as rosco_away [21:27] yeah on installing to desktop ,obkect could not be created! [21:33] I have no idea [21:50] Because I'm looking at Kubuntu Active in a VM, I need a mouse pointer. The Plasma Active website tells me how to enable the pointer using the openSUSE and Balsam versions of PA, but not Kubuntu.
