[10:19] the latest stable -lowlatency 3.8 seems to have caused some problems for usb device users, LP #1185563 [10:19] Launchpad bug 1185563 in linux-lowlatency (Ubuntu) "3.8.x low latency kernels poor performance with usb" [Undecided,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1185563 [10:21] but, it seems to be related to LP #1191603 [10:21] Launchpad bug 1191603 in linux (Ubuntu) "raring-updates: regression: 3.8.0-24.35 causes sporadic failure of USB audio devices" [Medium,Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1191603 [10:33] Heh,,, [15:08] zequence: Re: 3.8, it also doesn't look like 3.9/10 will fix this from the converstion on LAU [15:08] OvenWerks, uh oh...; [15:09] This can be pulled I think sometime. [15:09] s/This/This patch/ [15:09] smartboyhw meant: "This patch can be pulled I think sometime." [15:10] I need to get out my USB IF and see if I have similar problems... though mine is only a USB 1.1 audio device. [15:10] OvenWerks, uh. 1.1... [15:10] * smartboyhw isn't sure if he has a 1.1 deice. [15:11] most usb devices run in 1.1 mode on Linux [15:11] audio devices, that is [15:11] USB 2.0 devices were problematic in my price range [15:19] If I was to buy one today, there are better choices [15:19] Hmm, something was wrong with my sasl... [15:20] Grr, the auth timed out,. [15:23] tons of xruns. [15:23] zequence, .......... [15:23] lots of midi errors... but midi is from a PCI card [15:23] * smartboyhw really wants USB 3.0 ports and drives. [15:24] USB 3.0 will not really help audio [15:24] OvenWerks, I want drives. [15:24] OvenWerks, really? [15:25] The only way it might help is to allow some kind of extrenal hub [15:26] Right now thge audio IF needs to be the only USB device on a USB port adding anything else (mouse KB etc) will cause problems [15:29] a page of errors at shutdown as well, That never used to happen. Even at -p1024 with no xruns [15:30] p256 is still ok [15:32] p128 is over the line, lots of xruns [15:33] even raising periods to 3 doesn't help. [15:36] p256 at 10ms is ok for recording, but not so good for live use like softsynth/effects [15:38] I had this device stable at -p64 before. [15:40] (~3ms) === HisaoNakai is now known as LanHikari
