[02:11] hello [02:12] I just finished installing the mythbuntu 12.04 64bit and when rebooting and going into backend setup it seems not to find my hd pvr. is there a trick to it ? [02:14] lwizardl, nope, should be seen right out of the box [02:15] it works fine on windows 7 been recording with it for the last month fine. [02:15] lwizardl, which version is it? [02:15] 1212 [02:16] lwizardl, is that this one http://www.hauppauge.com/site/products/data_hdpvr2.html [02:16] no [02:16] component [02:16] lwizardl, then yea, it should work fine [02:16] lwizardl, does it work outside of mythtv? [02:16] this one [02:16] http://www.hauppauge.com/site/products/data_hdpvr.html [02:16] yes works fine on win7 [02:17] lwizardl, do you see it if you do 'dmesg | grep hdpvr' [02:18] yes [02:18] but seems that it just now has been added as video0 [02:18] ok, so does the backend see it now? [02:18] yup seen in backend [02:19] so ubuntu just didn't detect it i guess [02:19] just took a bit it seems [02:20] yeah [02:20] okay now it detected the 3 inputs from the device [02:21] component, S-Video, Composite [02:22] for the time being I do not have a SD subscription, will be doing that hopefully friday. what do I do for the input connections settings [02:25] you'll need to make a dummy listing [02:25] I believe there is a setting in there for that [02:26] lwizardl, SD also has a 7 day free trial [02:26] yeah used that in the past so I would have to make another email acct somewhere to get another 7day free [02:30] I can just do the 2 month for $6 for now [02:36] k just paid for the subscription and had to adjust the settings it had me as satellite and that was years ago [03:35] okay so now that I have paid for the sd sub, it seems to have a problem with fetching channels from my listing [03:54] okay seems that I found part of my problem, even after reseting my password sd just won't download the channel listing in myth [04:25] okay where does mythbuntu 12.04 store logs ? [04:26] /var/log/mythtv/ [04:32] which would have the tuner errors listed in it? [04:32] backend.log? [04:36] yes [04:39] it keeps making my tuner busy at system startup [05:54] i am running mythbunt 12.04 and have the man pages for update-motd but not the program itself [05:54] /etc/update-mot.d/ is there and the motd gets updated with mythtv-status but the script i put there does not seem to run [05:55] i am able to run dpkg-reconfigure on update-motd but that doees not seem to do anything === hpeter_ is now known as hpeter [17:15] hello [17:17] I spent most of yesterday doing multiple attempts of having a working myth setup but seems everytime I bootup my dvr box with my hdpvr 1212 (component video model) connected to the system it keeps saying either the tuner is busy(in use) or errors. While my avr gets no audio from the hdpvr [17:50] gonna try another distro and see if i have better luck, bbl [21:16] anyone around that can help with hdpvr setup? [21:46] lwizardl: use pastebin to post some backend logs with "-v channel, record" and I will take a look when I have some time. [21:46] It may have to wait until I am off work, tonight. [21:48] okay I just took the time to blank and reinstall the 12.04 system. Doing updates right now [21:48] will the logs you will need to see the mythbackend.log file? [21:50] lwizardl: I assume so. I am a fedora user myself, and hand install, so I don't know what ubuntu does. [21:50] I do know a lot about the HD-PVR, though. [21:51] Honestly, I had not clicked until just now that we were in the ubuntu channel :-) [21:51] ah [21:52] well for one when ubuntu loads my hdpvr cutes audio to my surround sound receiver [21:52] which is connected via the toslink optical cable [21:52] *cuts [21:52] RCA or S/PDIF audio input on the HD-PVR? [21:52] spdif [21:53] Sounds like your myth config is switching it over to RCA, then. The HD-PVR will refuse to do anything if it does not see valid audio input, so that may be a lot of your problem. [21:53] i have to reboot a windows machine to get audio working again [21:54] k [21:57] In mythtv-setup, in the capture card section for the HD-PVR there should be an option to select the audio input. [21:59] k im stuck on the ubuntu updates right now its at about 80% done [22:07] lwizardl: what does rebooting a windows machine have to do with getting audio again? [22:09] Shadow__X: when the hdpvr is connected to a linux box during bootup it seems to cut off my audio. it takes booting a windows machine with it connected to get my audio back [22:19] http://www.wizardsarcade.com/hdpvr/index.html I took some screenshots from the windows machine. Could the driver information from the windows machine help figure out why it fixes the audio ? [22:23] okay i connected the rca audio and audio comes back on. so it does seem to be that it switched it to rca [22:29] when using the hdpvr as my "tuner" source channel frequency table is default correct? [22:45] lwizardl: yeah, it doesn't really matter since myth itself is not tuning anything. That is why you have to have an external channel changing script. [22:50] thought so just had to make sure [22:52] okay I just finished my backend setup and letting it do the mythfilldatabase. I typed my setting so hopefully it will help incase I did something wrong [22:52] http://wizardsarcade.com/hdpvr/index.html [22:53] Is your channel change script really blank? If so, that won't work. You must at least set it to /bin/true. [22:55] lwizardl: are you trying to use the comcast set top box fir your tv and use it mythtv to record? [22:55] yeah left it blank. i'll change it [22:56] Shadow__X: basically [22:56] you are setting yourself up for recording issues [22:56] you should really be using a dedicated set top box for that [22:57] with that said you could try using either firewire or lirc to change the channel for you [22:57] as that would be a much better and reliable solution compared to you changing the channel [22:58] yeah i was planning to let mythtv change the channels but i have to find the sensor location on the box. [22:58] its a pace rng 110 box [23:00] lwizardl: like this http://cdn.avsforum.com/0/0e/525x525px-LL-0ed7189b_vbattach163854.jpeg [23:00] ? [23:00] one of those boxes? [23:00] no these http://eaglecountytimes.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/comcast-rng110.jpg [23:01] i would see if you can use firewire to change the channels [23:01] i have had good luck with 2 different motorola boxes [23:02] http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/FireWire [23:02] http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/FireWire#Changing_Channels_via_Firewire [23:02] k i'll have to use an addon card for firewire [23:03] well maybe your best bet is to use the ir blaster as you won't have to buy something [23:04] i think i have some firewire addon cards in storage [23:14] okay found 2 firewire cards and a new cable [23:15] generally would pinnacle systems or lucent cards be more supported ? [23:18] i have no idea [23:18] i am looking to see if any scripts support that box [23:19] http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/6200ch [23:19] if it is pace then it might work [23:19] #define PACE_VENDOR_ID1 0x00005094 /* 550 & 779 */ [23:19] #define PACE_VENDOR_ID2 0x00005094 /* unknown */ [23:19] #define PACE550_MODEL_ID1 0x00010551 [23:19] #define PACE779_MODEL_ID1 0x00010755 [23:20] okay the pinnacle system one as soon as the cable is connected my pc shuts off so im guessing the card has a short [23:25] okay I have the lucent marked addon card in the system and the firewire cable connected to the pc and the cablebox [23:27] seems to work ST Lab F-152 PCI 3+1Port1394a NEC uPD72874 Pace RNG110 Fedora 11. Works using P2P, stable @ 400Mbps. Use 6200ch changer. [23:28] k [23:28] how can i test if the firewire card is installed and detected properly ? [23:29] you can look through dmesg [23:29] and lspci [23:32] k will it say firewire or like 1394 ? [23:33] lspci output http://pastebin.com/sQjRnZ89 [23:35] lwizardl: i don't see it listed there make sure it is fully seated [23:35] also look at dmesg next [23:35] don't see either one 1394 or firewire [23:35] http://pastebin.com/XNrZBp4f [23:42] well seems that firewire cable box is detected [23:42] at the same device id as the hdpvr
