=== erkules_ is now known as erkules [08:45] xnox: could you take a look at https://code.launchpad.net/~jamesodhunt/upstart/fix-libupstart/+merge/172371 when you're about? [15:24] hi, i tried creating a simple upstart job, but start/stop is hanging, now i tried every form of expect (none/fork/daemon) but that doesn't help, anyone know where to look ? [15:25] script looks like this: http://pastebin.com/xKfeqbZ5 [15:27] Pyretic: /usr/share/... for a binary? Have you read the extremely important section in the cookbook on expect? http://upstart.ubuntu.com/cookbook/#expect [15:29] yes, i've read it also from the strace it actuallly forks more then two times [15:30] that's why all i tried all expect forms, but no luck, the pid is different each time [15:33] Pyretic: this must be ruby-specific behaviour then: no daemon needs to fork >2 times. I'd look to see if it is possible to run this service in the foreground somehow and then remove 'expect'. Otherwise, make the "final" forked process call SIGSTOP and specify "expect stop". [15:38] Pyretic: seems that foreman can auto-generate upstart jobs (?): http://michaelvanrooijen.com/articles/2011/06/08-managing-and-monitoring-your-ruby-application-with-foreman-and-upstart/ [15:39] lol yes, bit of a naming confusion there [15:39] foreman: http://ddollar.github.io/foreman/ vs theforeman http://theforeman.org/ :) [15:39] Pyretic: :) [15:58] xnox/slangasek: please could one of you review https://code.launchpad.net/~jamesodhunt/upstart/fix-libupstart/+merge/172371 [16:02] =) [16:04] * jodh wanders off to print out the automake manual, pin it to a wall and shoot at it... [16:05] xnox: do you have this, or do you need me to review? [16:05] jodh: aim for the conditionals [16:06] slangasek: :) if you know the magic incantation to remove those multiple mkdirs, pleeeeease do let me know :) [16:07] slangasek: i have been reviewing it. it's straightforward sans automake. [16:15] jodh: i disabled the daemon setting, works now thanks :) [16:18] Pyretic: great. [16:18] jodh: distcheck failed for me..... [16:19] xnox: same problem with upstart/ missing? [16:22] xnox: about? or are you busy shooting at walls too? [16:24] jodh: no, it's shared/static linking problem this time around. [16:36] xnox: can you send me details? I've just tested with a pristine checkout and all works as expected. [16:44] hm.... [18:50] xnox: can I suggest punting on libupstart for the initial 1.9 upload? [18:51] slangasek: yeah, best to upload, we can add it later. [18:52] xnox: is the branch currently in a state that it can be uploaded, then - and would you mind uploading? [18:54] slangasek: will double check and upload after dinner =) [18:54] xnox: ok, thanks :) [21:36] slangasek: uploaded. [21:54] xnox: cheers :) [21:56] how british, sir. I like that =)
