[00:54] Evening [00:54] We'll be starting the meeting in 6 minutes [01:03] Hello everyone [01:04] Let's get the meeting started. [01:04] Who all is on the line? [01:10] Right [01:10] OK [01:10] Well, I guess this will be more of an announce-only meeting then. :) [01:10] First up: Ohio Linuxfest is approaching [01:10] September 13th - 15th [01:11] unfortunately I won't be able to make it this year [01:11] but it would be nice to have a presence there if possible [01:11] last year we partnered with the Ohio loco to help staff the table [01:11] So there's that option [01:12] Bu if there's something else that someone would like to organize, that would be awesome. [01:12] Unfortunately that weekend is also overloaded, as that's the same weekend of the Global Jam for the S-Series [01:13] Which I'm thinking will once again be online, as it'll be even more interesting to try to get people together that weekend [01:14] But will also allow folks who are at OLF to participate if they'd like to [01:14] Perhaps we could hold some form of BOF online? [01:14] and in person? [01:15] Dunno, but there's about 2 months, so there's some time [01:15] Any questions? [01:16] Or anything else for that matter? [01:17] not from me, but i got in late [01:17] Heh [01:26] OK, well I'll post these ideas on the mailing list as well. [01:27] Unless there's anything else, we'll call it a meeting. [01:27] Thanks, everyone! [01:27] thank you [01:30] Mail sent [01:30] AFK., [01:32] damni [03:21] There seems to be a fair amount of lag between what is posted here and when it appears in the logs: http://irclogs.ubuntu.com/2013/07/08/%23ubuntu-us-mi.txt [03:37] yeah i noticed that too [03:49] Just for reference, it's currently 03:49 UTC and my previous post still is not in the logs. [03:54] Now that it is 03:54 UTC, this is a 30+ minute lag. [10:52] morning and owwwwwwwww [10:53] Post trip ouchies? [10:53] I can feel the muscles in my fingers...ow [12:21] Good morning, btw. [12:22] yea, morning...that's it [12:23] Heh [12:23] no mug for me this month :( [12:24] :( [12:24] And we got a special guest speaker and everything [12:24] yea [12:25] Too busy soaking in your own sweat? [12:25] brb, reboot work machine [12:28] pretty much. have a bunch of work to do at home, lawn/etc now that we're back and no way to take evening off [12:40] Legit? http://paste.mitechie.com/show/981/ [12:45] brousch: Never heard of the magazine before [12:45] But if you feel like writing, go for it. :) [12:45] Just don't expect to get paid in a timely manner. :) [12:48] Looks like a German company [12:49] Or Polish [12:49] Not sure [12:58] dinos for jcastro http://www.flickr.com/photos/7508761@N03/9237171571/in/photostream/ === ColonelPanic002_ is now known as ColonelPanic001 [13:37] http://i.imgur.com/xB6P0Vm.png [13:39] yikes [13:40] snap-l: I haven't heard of it either. The website seems legit [14:08] what is the difference between 'from x import y as z' and 'import x.y as z' ? [14:09] jrwren: can't think of any. [14:09] I've not seen the latter [14:10] import simplejson as json [14:10] just the nested format of that [14:10] But I've not seen this nested format you speak of [14:11] brousch: really? import lxml.etree as ET you haven't seen? [14:11] it's not that often that people do the alias all together, so not surprised [14:12] i have not seen that. When it's inside a module I've always seen from module import thing [14:15] pep8 says it's OK though [14:16] its definitely OK [14:16] just wanted to make sure the two statements were equiv. I thought they were, but python has really been making me a fool lately. [15:20] jrwren: Join the club. :) [15:28] ugh [15:29] 7am came way too early [15:32] i agree [15:33] +1 [15:33] though 6:30 here [15:37] /$TIME/MOnday/g [15:37] hah [15:44] snap-l: yeah, that too [15:45] we didn't get home until 11:30 last night, hella traffic going back to SF [15:45] but man, so worth it where we went, I want to move there [15:45] Michigan? :) [15:45] lol [15:48] snap-l: good try :P [15:48] it's an area known as "The Ridge", it's on the San Juan Ridge, north of Lake Tahoe area, but not full of yuppies [15:49] still semi affordable land that is both in the mountains and farmable [16:28] I don't know if I should laugh cry or love it http://coffitivity.com/ [16:35] rick_h_: Yeah, I think that came up Wednesday or Friday of last week [16:36] "Get your offline Coffitivity fix - Signup to hear when we release our iOS/Mac apps!" [16:37] I kind of liked it [16:37] I didn't want to [16:37] really oh so badly didn't want to [16:43] greg-g_: yea, I mean at least it's interesting [16:43] but I can't help but think "get your coffee shop social time without actually leaving your house!" [16:44] not that sitting and ignoring everyone else at the coffee shop is 'social' time I guess [16:47] right === greg-g_ is now known as greg-g [18:22] greg-g: unpossible. there is no affordable nondesert land in CA [18:22] :) [19:22] alyankovic: The L.A. Zoo is the rudest ever. I waved to all the animals, and not a SINGLE one waved back. #YelpReview [19:28] i think I really like the new askubuntu theme. [19:28] i did get a new theme, right? [19:31] I think it did. Something to match the Ubuntu One Login, perhaps? [19:32] jrwren: yeah, so, more of a response: yes, affordable is relative, so for CA it is affordable, for the rest of the country, not anywhere near [19:32] but man, so beautiful [19:41] jcastro: can you tell me why the laptop that Canonical jointly created with Dell (again) for the best developer laptop is *still* having kernel related issues? It feels like they don't think these things through. :( [19:41] actually, here [19:41] its dell. [19:41] jcastro: ignore me, I'm going to poke another one [19:41] wtf do you expect. [19:42] rick_h_: see above^ [19:42] jrwren: I know. I'm so annoyed at work for choosing this. They bought into the marketing [19:42] greg-g: heh, never get dell...my motto for 10 years :P [19:42] greg-g: yea, no idea on that stuff. [19:42] :) [19:44] what's the issue? [19:45] greg-g: ^^ [19:46] https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/954661 [19:50] are you on precise or ... ? [19:51] greg-g: ^^ [19:52] jcastro: raring [19:52] https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1163720 [19:52] ok so this is your bug then [19:53] see comment #23 [19:53] see if that works [19:54] jcastro: I just wanted to rant man, not actually fix it! [19:54] :P [19:54] https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47941 seems to be the main bug [19:55] jcastro: I think that works for me (that comment) [19:55] The only working solution for me is "echo 0 > /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness" after boot or resume from suspend. [19:55] is what that guys says [19:55] rc.local that shit for now I guess [19:55] yeppers [19:56] but yeah, sucks man [19:57] sorry, didn't really mean to make you do work-type stuff here man [19:58] jcastro: thanks though [20:00] lol no worries [20:00] I AM HERE FOR YOU MAN [20:00] way more than rick anyway. :p [20:00] jcastro: HUGS! [20:01] I mean [20:01] MAN HUGS! [20:13] dude who just moved down from the 6th floor to the 3rd floor (where I work) has a model m. the only thing louder than my kinesis [20:13] (we only use 2 floors, but they aren't adjacent) [20:26] Seriously? That's some serious typing
