anoneecan anyone read me?12:59
anoneeno?12:59
davmor2anonee: yeap12:59
anoneedavmor2 thank you13:00
anoneedavmor2 is it normal that I unselected all the folders to sync during setup, but it still syncing all the hidden directories under /home/me ? I can't even browse or in anyway access the synced files, and I've seen the log, they contain every directory I unselected, how can you explain this?13:01
anoneedavmor2 correction: not only the hidden ones, all the /home/me directory actually.13:02
davmor2anonee: you'll be best off asking later on when more of the devs are online13:02
anoneedavmor2 thank you...13:03
anoneedavmor2 what time is it on your side?13:03
davmor214:00 the bulk of the devs are in argentina/america so should be on shortly13:05
anoneeit seems I missed 448 msgs16:21
anoneetelepathy got unresponsive16:22
anoneeanyway, my question is: I unchecked directories to exclude them from being synced, however, seems ubuntuone insists on syncing everything /home/myname  (including the directories I unchecked). I deleted the device and added it 3 times and got the same results, and I can't even browse my files online. can anyone please tell me what's going on?16:25

davmor2ralsina, is this something you can help with or point someone who can help to please ^16:47
ralsinadavmor2: I pointed it to dobey but he's having lunch16:48
davmor2ralsina: ah thanks :)16:48
dobeyanonee: how did you manage to sync all of your $HOME?16:57
ralsinadobey: I think he means "all the UDFs under $HOME" :-)17:04
=== gatox_lunch is now known as gatox
anoneeno, I mean /home17:53
anoneedobey, ralsina17:53
anoneethe whole /home, it's 1.3 GB17:54
ralsinaanonee: that's strange. And you can't do that because the logs of uploads are in there...17:55
ralsinadavmor2: looks like we'll need someone to check the account server side to see what s there...17:55
anoneeralsina what do u mean I can't do that because the logs of uploads are in there?17:56
anoneeralsina I didn't get it17:57
ralsinaanonee: when you upload something it's logged and changes a file. That file would then be marked for upload. Which will be logged. And so on.17:58
dobeyanonee: you can't sync all of home. you can only sync select folders under home17:58
ralsinaanonee: that's one of the many reasons why you can't sync $HOME17:58
dobeyralsina: well, if you have UDFs, it's impossible to sync home anyway. and i think it's still impossible even if you don't, because the code errors if you try17:58
ralsinadobey: yes, ~/Ubuntu One would be nested17:59
anoneeyes ralsina dobey yes I thought the same way, but I assure you, it's synced!17:59
anoneedobey ralsina plz wait a min I'll show you18:00
anoneedobey, ralsina18:47
dobeyyes?18:49
anoneedobey http://imageshack.com/i/05hg6sp18:51
ralsinaanonee: why does that picture suggest to you that folder is synced?18:53
ralsinaAlso, that's /home not even your own home18:53
anoneehome contains only me18:54
ralsinaanonee: so? Still doesn't mean it's synced :)18:54
dobeyyou cannot sync /home18:54
dobeyubuntuone can only sync actual folders which are underneath your user's home directory18:55
anoneeralsina I used to think this way, but I saw the pathes when I clicked "show details" while they were "backing up"18:55
dobeyubuntuone does not do any "backing up" of any sort18:55
ralsinaanonee: so you are backing up /home using deja dup, by any chance?18:55
dobeyare you talking about deja-dup?18:55
anoneeyes, but I didn't ask it to do so18:56
dobeyyes you did. you must have. it won't do it unless you configure it to do so18:56
anoneeI just set up the backup as it requested, and I didn't decide which directories I wanna backup18:57
dobeywell it does have defaults. and you configured it to store backups on ubuntuone18:57
anoneedobey I'll check, please hold on18:57
dobeyyou had to enable deja-dup to back things up. it has nothing to do with ubuntuone syncing files though18:57
ralsinaanonee: so, changing things in ubuntu one control panel will not do anything, you need to change them in deja dup itself18:58
anoneeyes dobey ralsina in fact, at first I didn't know what is this thing "deja.." but now I remember, I didn't even start using ubuntuOne until this thing popped up and said hey! it's important to backup!19:00
ralsinaanonee: It is! :-)19:01
anoneeOkay now everything is under control, but would you please just clarify to me why can't I see the files or the archive or whatever format deja backs up, why can't I see them in the web panel of ubuntuone?19:02
anoneeralsina? dobey?19:02
anoneesuggestions?19:02
dobeyyou're not looking in the right place perhaps? or it hasn't successfully uploaded a backup19:06
anoneedobey as you saw in the screenshots, Files: 1.3 GB ... View files >19:09
ralsinaanonee: dejadup IIRC saves the backup as encrypted files, so you should be able to see them in the ubuntu one website19:09
ralsinaanonee: of course it's a bad idea to sync those backups back into your device19:09
anoneeI know they're encrypted, but I just wanna see the file, not access it19:10
anoneeI don't wanna sync them back19:10
dobeyanonee: that screenshot didn't tell me anything about what deja-dup did or didn't do.19:10
anoneeralsina is it called dejadup IRC?19:11
dobeyit tells me you have 1.3GB of files in /home19:11
ralsinaIIRC == If I Recall Correctly19:11
ralsinaanonee: then if it has been uploaded it should be available at http://one.ubuntu.com19:12
anoneeralsina they're there now, for some reason they took sometime to appear, the backup is there, splitted @ 25MB files19:15
ralsinaanonee: awesome, no problem then?19:15
anoneeralsina no problem then :)19:15
anoneeralsina thanks for the IIRC :)19:17
ralsinaanonee: happy to help!19:17
anoneeOkay bye bye room, you're awesome19:18

dandraderI'm no longer able to share or publish files. This feature seems to has been disabled (disappeared) completely. Is anyone experiencing the same?23:48
dandraderhmm, found a way to do it via the Ubuntu One Qt application. It's so weird this option no longer shows up in https://one.ubuntu.com/files/ or nautilus23:52
