roastedI wish I could use 13.04.05:30
roasted13.04 comes with kernel 3.8, which has given me a ton of grief on this laptop. It goes into a hardlock mode randomly. It's not a fault of Ubuntu Gnome, I've seen it with other distros using kernel 3.8. I'm on Ubuntu GNOME 13.10 alpha now with kernel 3.10 and it hasn't locked up a single time.05:30
roastedIf I could use the LTS and use Gnome 3.8 I'd hop on that in a hot second, but it's not really possible.05:31
thunder1212roasted: my laptop had a problem with kernel 3.0(the one in ubuntu11.10 and every other linux distro at that version). My laptop would drain in half an hour and the fans would be running at extremely high speed05:41
thunder1212roasted: why does this happen have any idea ?05:43
roastedI have no idea. But I wouldn't be using 11.10 to begin with.05:43
thunder1212roasted: at one point of time it was the latest?05:45
roastedat one point, yes05:46
roastedkernel 3.10 was released recently05:46
roastedI wouldn't have a clue hwo to troubleshoot 3.0 as its an older kernel05:46
thunder1212roasted: i keep getting some crash report or the other on my laptop runnign ubuntu 12.04?05:46
thunder1212roasted: some or the other application crashes always, and i get this "Sorry Ubuntu 12.04 has experienced an internal error."05:47
roastedthunder1212: that's just apport thinking it ran into an issue in the background05:49
roastedyou can disable that if you like05:49
thunder1212roasted: how?05:49
roastedsudo gedit /etc/default/apport05:49
roastedyou'll see enabled=105:49
roastedchange the 1 to 005:49
roastedsave05:49
thunder1212roasted: do you know how i can have a window list on gnome 305:54
thunder1212roasted: where do the windows go when minimised?05:55
roastedthunder1212: they go to the dock, located in the activities overlay menu.05:55
roastedthunder1212: there are extensions available if you want them in your sight at all times05:55
thunder1212roasted: what do you usually do to manage windows just let them be in the activities lverlay?05:56
roastedthunder1212: I'm a huge alt-tab user, so I use that for the most part.05:56
thunder1212roasted: but when you have many windows open for same application then?05:57
roastedthunder1212: many windows open for the same application? Like what?06:02
thunder1212roasted: firefox06:02
roastedI only ever have 1 Firefox window open06:02
roastedjust multiple tabs within that single window06:02
thunder1212roasted: or spreadsheet06:02
thunder1212roasted: ok i have downloaded ubuntu gnome 1304 and am transfering it to usb will reinstall and be back06:03
ubot5Error: Gnome bug 1304 could not be found06:03

roasteddevs - I'm curious on your stance with 13.10. I've noticed lately a lot less apport popups. I can only imagine more and more bugs are getting squashed.16:30
