BlitzHereHi all, I'm looking for a way to rip out music tracks from my CD collection to 320kbps mp3 files WITH album art. I'm on a P4, so the fewer the steps, the better. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance...06:36
hyperairtry installing goobox and seeing if that does the trick for you07:00
jaredBlitzHere: I've had a lot of success with ripperX07:11
BlitzHere<hyperair><jared> Ok thanks, I'm installing RipperX and goobox now...07:34
jaredBlitzHere: hope it does what you need :) I used to use G::Rip but that disappeared a few years ago07:34
BlitzHereI found this on this page, Does this still apply?07:36

BlitzHereWARNING: the gstreamer LAME plugin, used in the instructions below, is broken and will produce substandard quality MP3s. You can track the bug here. If you want to create MP3s, it is recommended not to use Sound Juicer; use a program that doesn't interface with LAME through gstreamer instead. Good examples are RubyRipper and ABCDE.07:36
jaredBlitzHere: I think that applies to sound juicer only07:37
hyperairno, it said gstreamer07:38
jaredAnd acccording to bug 195483 appears to have been fixed a while ago07:38
ubottubug 195483 in sound-juicer (Ubuntu) "Sound Juicer - MP3 quality doesn't change" [Low,Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/19548307:38
hyperairbut i think it doesn't apply these days.07:38

Ahmuckrecommended e-mail server?18:54
Ahmucki know sometimes when i attempt to start an e-mail type of application that requires messaging in the past it would post a pop up with default configuration options.18:55
joshuAhmuck for email server postfix it all depends what you need18:56
joshuAhmuck sounds like you are asking about email clients as phillw suggested18:57
Ahmuckno, i want an e-mail server, on a junk laptop18:57
phillwAhmuck: in that case, you could do far worse than http://flurdy.com/docs/postfix/19:10
Ahmuckphillw: that is a great doc19:16
