=== tasdomas is now known as tasdomas_afk [00:26] ppa builders are a bit backed up, eh? [03:12] Is there any way to download a archive from launchpad.net site directly? [03:58] kirkland: if there is something that needs a bump just ping webops [03:58] joako: a mailing list archive? [04:05] czajkowski, No software code is what I wish to download but bzr is not working out for me [04:06] The system doesn´t have too much ram but it seems that it needs size of repository ram otherwise the bzr download process fails [04:32] joako: you could dget the package I suppose [04:42] joako: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~PATH/TO/BRANCH/tarball [04:43] oh wow [04:43] I did not know about that [05:17] it doesn´t work for me. I have this URL: https://launchpad.net/openobject-addons/+milestone/6.1 but I have an error here: https://launchpad.net/openobject-addons/+milestone/6.1/tarball [05:20] joako: That first URL is not a branch, it's a milestone. [05:20] wgrant, I am not a programmer. All I know is from this site I wish to download the code so I can use it. [05:20] How can I determine the branch of that milestone? [05:21] joako: The code branch is associated with the series. Click on the "6.1" link under the Series header, and you'll see a link to the branch on the right [05:22] Where does series come from? This confuses me more [05:22] http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~openerp/openobject-addons/6.1/tarball [05:23] wgrant, How can I determine that myself in the future? [05:24] joako: On the milestone URL that you linked there is a "Series: 6.1" [05:24] Click the 6.1 link [05:24] And you'll see a link to the relevant branch on the series page [05:25] What is very confusing is why on the page https://launchpad.net/openobject-addons/6.1 does it say ¨no downloads¨ [05:26] The project hasn't uploaded any download files [05:26] Just the code branch [05:26] wgrant, but why then can I use the hidden download link? [05:27] joako: That's a Launchpad feature that generates a tarball directly from the code branch. Normally the project owner would have uploaded a release tarball and maybe some pre-built binaries for end users to use; that's what the "no downloads" bit refers to. [05:28] Thanks for trying to explain it. I still don´t understand. Sourceforge and svn make pefect sense. [05:30] joako: The version control system is for developers, not for end users. Project owners can upload files for end-users to download and use, but the people who run openobject-addons have not done that, so you have no choice but to use the developer-oriented version control system to download them instead. === tasdomas_afk is now known as tasdomas === Guest87657 is now known as nesthib === BradCrittenden is now known as bac === Vorpal_ is now known as Vorpal === tasdomas is now known as tasdomas_afk === tasdomas_afk is now known as tasdomas === tasdomas is now known as tasdomas_afk === shadeslayer_ is now known as shadeslayer
