chjuniorcan someone take a look at this? http://pastie.org/private/slegfu1aqgtagkpwcifbsg15:20
chjuniorI'm having some weird issue with libgphoto2-215:20
chjuniormore details: http://pastie.org/private/g8wndrs2y2peq6omq5jilg15:22
BluesKajok, if anyone on Kubuntu 13.10 has lsb-core and ia32-libs installed then trying to upgrade or dist-upgrade today may create a dependency hell loop. Especially if you had google-earth installed which was taken out by yesterday's upgrade15:27
chjuniorBluesKaj, can you help me on that?15:27
chjuniorif you don't mind15:28
BluesKajom what ?15:28
BluesKajon'15:28
BluesKajchjunior, about my post or do you have a separate problem?15:29
chjuniorI gess it's a separate one15:29
chjuniorhttp://pastie.org/private/g8wndrs2y2peq6omq5jilg15:29
chjuniorit's a dependency hell as wll15:29
BluesKajI just joined so i can'tr see your question chjunior15:29
chjuniorBluesKaj, I'm having some weird issue with libgphoto2-2. can someone take a look at this? http://pastie.org/private/g8wndrs2y2peq6omq5jilg15:30
BluesKajyes i see , chjunior15:30
BluesKajthe problem is there's no solution atm until the dependency problem is fixed ...I tried to track down the offending dependency but it's not removable15:32
chjunioryou had the same issue as I did?15:33
chjuniorsame package (libgphoto)15:33
BluesKajyes, exactly15:33
chjuniorwow15:33
chjuniorso that affected not just kubuntu, but ubuntu as well15:34
chjuniorand I didn't have google earth15:34
BluesKajok, good to know about google earth as well15:35
chjuniorthat's a pain in the ass =/15:35
BluesKajlooks like it's an OS wide problem , i'm going post it in kubuntu-dev to see what the response is .15:36
BluesKajok done15:37
chjuniorcool15:37
BluesKajwell I have other stuff to do , so i'll have to leave it for now15:41
geniiShould probably do ubuntu-bug libgphoto2-215:47
chjuniorgenii, https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libgphoto2/+bug/120746617:53
ubottuUbuntu bug 1207466 in libgphoto2 (Ubuntu) "libgphoto2 dependency issue" [Undecided,New]17:53
geniichjunior: Now it's basically a waiting game.17:54
chjunioryeah =/17:54
chjuniorthe bad thing about apt-get issues is that for now I basically can't install any deb package17:55
chjuniorgenii, is there a way to revert anything so I get back to a normal state?18:22
chjuniornormal working state18:22
geniichjunior: Guess you could remove all the concurrent versions of libgphoto2 and then try apt-get -f install again. although I'm not sure what all it may want to remove along with that.18:23
chjuniorgenii, that's funny, it says I don't have any libgphoto2 installed when I do that18:25
chjunioror, actually18:25
chjuniorI have libgphoto2-2:i38618:25
chjuniorbut trying to remove that brings me back to the dependency issue18:25
geniichjunior: Maybe do: grep -n libgphoto2-2 /var/lib/dpkg/status | grep Package   ..to find out what line number it's stanza starts at. Then you can: sudo nano +<the-line-number-from-grep> /var/lib/dpkg/status and see what it says about that package in there18:47
chjuniorgenii,  grep -n libgphoto2-2 /var/lib/dpkg/status | grep Package19:13
chjunior51952:Package: libgphoto2-219:13
chjunior51980:Package: libgphoto2-219:13
chjuniorgenii, one says "deinstall ok config-files"19:15
chjuniorthe other one says "install ok half-configured"19:15
geniiHm.19:40
chjuniorgenii, does it mean anything for you?20:00
geniichjunior: Basically there is where dpkg looks to see what state things are in. You could do something like back up that file first to maybe /var/lib/dpkg/status.back then change those specific lines  in the /var/lib/dpkg/status file to read like: Status: install ok installed       and then see if sudo apt-get -f install can progress20:05
geniieg: lie to dpkg20:05
