[00:40] let's hope this gtk upload goes smoother than last time === roasted_ is now known as roasted [03:42] Does Ubuntu Gnome use Nautilus as a file manager? [03:58] of course [03:58] what else would it use? [04:19] For some reason thought it used something different. Tnx [04:19] you can install others if you wish [04:19] I had nemo running for a while, as an example [04:20] I don't.. In my limited experience Truecrypt doesn [04:21] 't play well with any thing else [04:22] Damn keyboard froze [06:57] ricotz, why are the webkit dbg packages so massive (amd64 only)? [06:59] libwebkit2gtk-3.0-25-dbg_2.0.3-1ubuntu1~build1_amd64.deb (1.2 GiB) [06:59] libwebkit2gtk-3.0-25-dbg_2.0.3-1ubuntu1~build1_i386.deb (2.0 MiB) [14:33] Getting Alpha 1 nooooooooow [14:34] Have they fixed Nautilus so it stops closing on us [14:35] Heeeeellllooooooo..... [14:36] Have they fixed Nautilus so it stops from closing randomly?? Anybody know? [14:37] I never had it closing on me... [14:38] I see. Started about 1 month ago. Just started closing after about 10 minutes since it was opened [14:40] I haven't experienced that yet. are you updated? [14:41] yes I do all updates... I will see hoe Alpha 1 is going after it downloads [14:41] isn't alpha 2 out now? [14:41] thanks then roasted... [14:43] ahhhh im just trying to see if Im gettin A2 or A1 [14:45] I would think you could just update it to alpha 2 [14:45] I'd check but I'm on my phone [14:46] in the waiting room of a hospital. joy. :-P [14:46] ok confusion. on the site lots of mention of A1 but no A2. But I see i am getting A2 so all is good [14:47] I think the daily build would be alpha 2 [14:47] ok I see roasted. thanks for your comments [14:47] NP === Maple__ is now known as Kinda_Bright === Kinda_Bright is now known as Maple__ [21:24] wow quiet tonight, all must be bug squashing [21:57] Good Evening everyone [21:58] I have a serious issue with my freshly installed ubuntu. It does not show a boot menu, just goes straight into ubuntu though I also have windows 8 isntalled [21:58] Try holding the shift key when it boots, it should show you the menu then [21:59] update-grub does not add an entry for windows 8 so I added one in 40_custom, still no menu showing up and I wonder how I can get into grub [21:59] well I will try shift now [21:59] though I dont like that. [21:59] it should give the boot menu then [22:01] Didn't work? [22:01] well, I've been holding shift from the moment the medion logo appeared up to the login screen [22:01] hmm [22:02] medion bios log, then blue screen, then login screen [22:02] nothing that amks any sense in beetween [22:02] I alos tried grub-set-default with no effect [22:03] I just normally keep tapping it soon as the bios appears, not sure what to suggest if you have already done a grub update, you could edit the grub.conf and set the timeout to -1, that would be the only other thing i could suggest [22:04] -1 means forever? [22:04] basically means until you select something [22:05] just make sure if you do any changes to the grub.conf to run update-grub after or the changes don't normally take effect [22:05] trying right now [22:05] what [22:05] update-grub surely overwrites grub.cfg [22:05] so I eitehr change grub.cfg OR run update-grub [22:05] unless I do it in the 00_header configfile [22:06] whatever, trying right now [22:06] na update-grub just regenerates the file afaik it used to create a new one with the original grub i think [22:16] So [22:16] it worked [22:17] apparently a timeout=10 has no effect when tehre is a HIDDEN_TIMEOUT=0 in /etc/default/grub [22:17] and I need to hit esc to get into grub [22:17] ahh [22:17] I actually set the HIDDEN_TIMEOUT=3 now [22:17] and the HIDDEN_TIMEOUT_QUIET=false [22:17] Well atleast you fixed it :) [22:18] indeed [22:18] made windows 8 default again [22:18] so all is as before with ubuntu available when wanted [22:18] Good, good [22:19] so thanks Zoiaguyver [22:20] No problem, glad I could help [22:30] jbicha, there seems to be something strange with the webkit -dbg packages ? They are massive on amd64 but not i386 [22:48] darkxst: yeah but maybe that will be fixed with the next Debian upload [22:49] http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-webkit/webkit.git;a=commitdiff;h=9a777 [23:03] yo man [23:03] what is linux? [23:04] can i install linux on microsoft office?
