=== Fyodorovna is now known as wilee-nilee === tomaw_ is now known as tomaw [09:08] Hi all, is there a way to get older daily builds for ubuntu? Like a month old or so? [09:09] I need to investigate a kernel panic that only occurs while updating === S-USAHasATail_ is now known as SonikkuAmerica [15:38] global menue is not working for gnome-terminal and xchat. can someone confirm that? === jhenke_ is now known as jhenke === zorael is now known as zorael^nubcake [18:20] !info linux-image [18:20] linux-image (source: linux-meta): Generic Linux kernel image.. In component main, is optional. Version 3.10.0.6.15 (saucy), package size 1 kB, installed size 33 kB === brainwash_ is now known as brainwash [18:58] How broken is 13.10 right now? [18:58] I felt like upgrading. [18:58] *feel === daek_ is now known as Daekdroom === funkyHat_ is now known as funkyHat [19:27] it is not too badly broken. [19:27] i'm using it currently without noticeable issues. [19:28] it seems to have killed my microphone though. [19:28] Daekdroom, If you can deal with a fail go for it, upgrading to a development has its possible perils. [19:29] wilee-nilee, I'm a regular development version user. [19:29] I just need to know if there is something too broken right now. [19:29] Daekdroom, I always do fresh installs so I dualboot it. [19:38] do-release-upgrader process crashed (right at the beginning, fortunately) [19:38] Although I was running update-manager. [19:44] *do-release-upgrade [19:44] update-manager -d [20:22] hey [20:22] Can't seem to report the upgrade crash =( [21:11] hi need help with 13.10 and encrypted fs since i updated he can't mount my encrypted fs any more if i do in maintance shell encryptfs-mount-private he tells me that private encrypted dir is not setuped probally [21:12] i have had a standart ubuntu settup 13.04 with full encrypted hdd [21:56] hmmmm so here is no one alive with lvm and encrypted fs knowleg [21:57] ? i think the fstab ist demaged [22:03] nope it is in crypttab ok [22:07] ok it is the fstab plz help me repair that [22:07] ^^ [22:51] BigProblem: what's the actual issue ? [23:00] the issu is i cant mount my main partition [23:01] i have a complet encrypted LVM it has 3 Partitions SWAP, ROOT, AND main i call it main since i even don't understand where it gets normaly mounted [23:02] the root and swap gets regonized and mounted the main data holding partition don't gets mounted when i wanna mount it i have the problem that i simply don't know where to mount it [23:02] and probally the file or partition is demaged [23:02] don't know [23:03] !fsck [23:03] fsck is the FileSystem ChecKer, which runs automatically when you boot if you didn't shutdown cleanly. Type "man fsck" for information on running it manually. The command "sudo touch /forcefsck && sudo shutdown -r now" will force a reboot and a filesystem check; "sudo touch /fastboot" will skip a filesystem check at next reboot [23:03] BigProblem: test and confirm [23:03] did fsck it found 2 minor fails that got corrected [23:03] BigProblem: consider running an officially supported version of ubuntu [23:05] BigProblem: I need to ask a harsh question [23:05] fsck tells me that partition FRANK-PC-root is clean and ok and dev sda1 is clean [23:05] BigProblem: why if you have no idea how to really use/manage linux are you using an unstable development version, and full disk encryption ? [23:05] i am missing status of swap and the main filesystem [23:05] coz i normaly know the things [23:05] but that goes behind my knowleg [23:05] BigProblem: you don't know the basics like "how to mount a disk" [23:06] BigProblem: or "where the root file system" is mounted [23:06] which seems pretty basic [23:06] ikonia normal mount fails [23:06] in all variatons [23:06] BigProblem: with what error ? [23:06] BigProblem: what mount command are you using ? [23:06] i have no free mount point on the read only maintance shell [23:06] BigProblem: ok, this is beyond basic [23:06] BigProblem: what mount command are you using ? [23:07] BigProblem: but I very strongly advise you to run a stable version of ubuntu [23:07] mount -t ext4 /dev/mapper/sda5_crypt /mnt/dspeed_de [23:07] BigProblem: and what is the error ? [23:07] since dspeed_de is a free dir under mnt that not used [23:08] sorry - I don't understand what you just said, please answer my question [23:08] already mounted or busy [23:08] i think its coz dspeed is only empty coz it can [23:08] t cfis connect [23:08] BigProblem: so is it already mounted ? [23:08] BigProblem: if you run "mount" on it's own, do you see it mounted already ? [23:08] nope i need a free mount point on a read only fs first to get more errors [23:09] nope its 100% not mounted [23:10] but that mount command tells me that my private encrypted home is mounted and thats not true [23:10] please stop talking about "free mount points" it makes no sense [23:10] BigProblem: what do you mean, it's not true? [23:10] BigProblem: mount doesn't lie [23:10] when i go into my home dir i have only 2 files that tell me to mount it [23:11] and i can do cd .private and see only crypted stuff [23:11] BigProblem: you have files in your home dir that tell you to mount it ? [23:11] Access_Your_Private_Data.desktop file and readme.txt [23:12] so that's a desktop shortcut and a readme file [23:12] to be honest, I'm wondering if you're actually reading the output of mount right [23:12] and as your in the recovery shell, I doubt you can pastebin the output [23:12] and no free mount point means simply when i mount it tells me mount point don't exists [23:13] please stop talking about "no free mount points" it doesn't make any sense [23:13] and when i wanna make a dir the read only file system don't does it [23:15] it would even help me on full encrypted lvm where does the main partition in my case /dev/mapper/sda5_crypt gets normaly when it would work mounted too: [23:15] BigProblem: the main partition is root - it gets mounted on / [23:16] but this is mounted and contained in a other mapper file [23:16] like the encrypted swap [23:16] no / is the top level [23:16] ok i see this will all don't help :D [23:17] I'm really sorry, I don't understand what you are saying [23:17] sorry for urbing [23:17] it's not a problem [23:18] whats your home lang`? [23:18] maybe i realy need to pay a translator
