tgm4883jya, would just a newer kernel work? The newer kernels are backported into 12.0400:47

jyatgm4883: well, I don't know if it's just the kernel, the newer alsa, the newer alsa libs etc....01:19
jyaso prefer to update the whole lot01:19
tgm4883jya, usually I'd recommend a backup/reinstall/restore, but we don't have non-LTS disks anymore01:30
jyai'm more concerned with the update of 12.04 to 13.whatever in one go..01:30
jyadon't really feel like doing the 12.04 -> 12.10 -> 13.04 ...01:31
jyawill take me hours01:31

qwebirc43690Hello, i'm trying mythbuntu as live cd from an usb stick on my 2nd pc to watch xvid-videos from another usb stick while playing fullscreen on the 1st pc. Unforunately the only way to control the sound volume i'm able to find is inside the vlc player. Where can i find the master volume volume control of the os itself?13:28
qwebirc92914Hi, i can't find mythbuntus audio volume control. I'm trying it live by usb stick to watch xvid-videos. Is there another way to adjust the sond volume than the vlc-player itself? (Sry for double asking, i logged out by clumsyness before)13:38
tgm4883qwebirc92914, there should be a little speaker icon at the top right of the screen13:43
tgm4883qwebirc92914, or you could fire up a terminal and use alsamixer I think13:43
qwebirc92914Thank you, but there's no icon on the upper right. As i'm trying mythbuntu as a nearly complete linux-newbie i need an howto that a 5yo child could follow.14:04
qwebirc92914woohoo! i just have tried typing alsamixer in the terminal and have adjusted the master volume. is there a way to use the persistence on the usb stick to permanently adding a speaker icon?14:07

superm1jya: if it's a kernel bug you can use the backported kernels in 12.04, if it's an alsa lib bug there are updated alsa lib packages somewhere across the audio team's PPAs: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-audio-dev15:10

qwebirc74535Is there a way to tell if my php.ini file has been changed to work with mythweb since the install of my system?  I'm trying to fix some warnings and saw the .ucf-dist file in the folder and wondered if I could start from that one.15:54

Unit193(Hope this is more or less the right channel.)  Jono had said something about XMir test images and Mythbuntu?  I think he sent a reply, but may have missed a link to http://vanir.unit193.tk/mir/pending/mythbuntu-13.10-xmir-i386.iso if it interests you or not I don't really know.23:10
tgm4883Unit193, yes, we've been in discussions about it23:31
tgm4883Unit193, oh, I didn't notice that was an ISO, nice23:34
tgm4883Unit193, yea this is more or less the right channel. we hang out here, but our dev channel is #ubuntu-mythtv-dev23:37
dw5304just installed mythtv and am currently having issues getting audio to come out of the hdmi port to my tv23:38

dw5304ok :)23:38
tgm4883dw5304, IIRC, verify it works outside mythtv23:38
dw5304thanks tgm488323:39
tgm4883I think I used aplay to test it23:39
dw5304it dont23:39
dw5304device is listed in lspci23:39
dw5304and alsa23:39
tgm4883IIRC, 'aplay -l' should list all of the audio devices23:39
dw5304yep it lists the audio device just dosent play anything23:39
tgm4883dw5304, it should list a bunch of audio devices I think23:40
dw5304it does, the one i want is card=hdmi,dev=023:41
dw5304:)23:41
dw5304sorry tgm4883 i spent most of the night playing with it23:41
tgm4883and you've tried 'speaker-test -D card=hdmi,dev=0'23:41
dw5304yes23:42
tgm4883weird23:42
dw5304then started reading saying that by default the nvida drives dont23:42
dw5304sorry23:42
dw5304radeon23:42
dw5304in the boot radeon.audio=1 or somthing23:42
dw5304so i did that as well but havent been able to get it work yet23:43
tgm4883I want to say that superm1 told me something about HDMI and ATI cards years ago, but I've forgotten it by now23:43
dw5304well i have time to screw with it23:43
tgm4883dw5304, I would probably try in #xubuntu since it's not a MythTV issue you'll get more people there that might have tried that23:44
