[13:14] No, use a pastebin. [13:14] ok [13:19] http://pastebin.com/TA1MRaWC [13:19] @bekks: http://pastebin.com/TA1MRaWC [13:19] bekks: http://pastebin.com/TA1MRaWC [13:20] in the past i have no problem with my jnlp files [13:20] "Cannot connect to SOCKS proxy". The error is quite obvious, isnt it? [13:21] it was only a problem of internet connection? [13:23] bekks: first of all thank you for your answers and sorry but i am a beginner... for me jar files and jnlp files are program that i launch by javaws and java -jar commands === SuRfDaEmOn is now known as Bjond [14:33] hi [14:33] i installed xubuntu on my dell laptop [14:34] then i added a new user > account type administrator [14:35] then i deleted the previous account which i had created at the time of installation [14:35] now i am unable to perform any administrator task with the latter account [14:36] even though in the users settings it is being shown as administrator [14:36] "define administrator task" [14:36] does sudo -s on a Terminal work [14:36] when i try to run a command with sudo it says you are not in sudoers list [14:36] oh ouch [14:37] what does `groups` say [14:38] and [14:38] getent group | grep sudo [14:38] pmjdebru1jn, i am unable to unlock users settings [14:39] pmjdebru1jn: Useless use of grep. Use: getent group sudo [14:39] bekks: who cares :) [14:39] sudo x:27 [14:39] The user. [14:40] sudo x:27: [14:40] ah, well that your problem [14:40] No, it isnt. [14:40] huh? [14:40] The non-existing entry for the user in the /etc/sudoers file is. [14:41] You dont need to be a member of the sudo group to use sudo. [14:41] that's the standard mechanism AFAIK [14:41] The standard mechanism is an entry in the /etc/sudoers file. [14:42] there is no /etc/sudoers file on my system [14:42] huh? [14:42] phoenix__: Then you dont have sudo installed. [14:42] bekks, ok there is sorry [14:42] bekks: at least standard Ubuntu tools add the admin users into the sudo group, instead of making a sudoers entry... which totally makes sense, as it's very easy to add/remove people from the sudo group [14:43] pmjdebru1jn: Then take a close look at the /etc/sudoers file, and you will see an entry for the sudo group. [14:43] bekks: yes of course [14:43] obviously [14:44] I meant the standard mechanism for Ubuntu (not per-se sudo upstream) [14:44] And that entry is just used to faciliate the usage even more - and its basically not necessary to be a member of the sudo group to use sudo. [14:44] we are in #xubuntu after all.... [14:44] bekks: of course [14:45] what should i do? [14:45] phoenix__: either add your user to the sudo group and log out and login back in completely, or add an entry to the /etc/sudoers file allowing your user to use sudo. [14:52] bekks, but that i suppose would require root priveleges [14:52] Correct. [14:53] And the user that was created during the installation should have sudo privileges. If it doesnt, you need to use a live CD, boot it, fix it, and continue. [14:55] bekks, the user that was created during install was deleted [14:56] Then you need to follow the instructions given above. [14:56] bekks, how to fix [14:57] phoenix__: either add your user to the sudo group and log out and login back in completely, or add an entry to the /etc/sudoers file allowing your user to use sudo. [14:58] phoenix__: if you don't know how to rescue a system using a live cd... a reinstall might be better suited [14:59] https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LiveCdRecovery#Add_User_to_a_Group this might help [15:00] Reinstallation isnt needed at all. [15:01] of course it's not, but not everybody has the skill to do a recovery :) [15:02] phoenix__: that page I posted has some guidelines on how to do a recovery [15:04] pmjdebru1jn, bekks thanks a lot, i though i would have to reinstall [15:07] Hello, can someone help me with this problem please: http://askubuntu.com/questions/308172/fglrx-doesnt-find-libc6 === jhenke_ is now known as jhenke [18:52] when logging in the 'chooser' always appears despite changing the manager settings... how can I stop this?
