[16:37] hey anyone know how to change translations for the xdg-user-dirs ? (i asked before) [16:37] dpm: ? [16:42] or henninge ? [16:43] UbuPhillup: I don't I am sorry. [16:44] henninge: thats for the german team, because we dont want »Schreibtisch« for »Desktop« ;) [16:44] but i think we can not do it with lp [16:44] No, we dont [16:44] ;) [16:44] so we need other help ;) [16:45] henninge: currently in saucy is every think translated with »Schreibtisch« ;( [16:48] UbuPhillup: Look here: [16:48] https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/saucy/+source/xdg-user-dirs/+pots/xdg-user-dirs/de/+translate?batch=10&show=all&search=Desktop [16:49] It looks like "Schreibtisch" ist used in Upstream. [16:49] Ah no, never mind. That is not upstream. [16:49] henninge: i know, but that change nothing [16:49] Maybe you are seeing the gtk translation. [16:50] But I am not current at all on the state of translations in Ubuntu or eben saucy [16:50] I am just guessing. [16:50] s/eben/even/ [16:51] henninge: we must change the path [16:51] henninge: i can change the .mo file, but that dont change the path [16:53] henninge: you know that we have our own channel #ubuntu-de-l10n ? [16:57] henninge: There is ubuntu-de [16:58] henninge: ? [16:58] UbuPhillup: Yes, there is [16:59] ahh okey [16:59] Gotta run now. Feierabend! [16:59] I don't think there is an English word for that ... ;-) [17:15] hey kelemengabor [17:16] Do you know how to change translations for the xdg-user-dirs ? [17:17] hi UbuPhillup - you need to send your translations upstream to http://translationproject.org/domain/xdg-user-dirs.html [17:19] kelemengabor: i think they dont want your translation, they change it, but we want to change it back for ubuntu;) [17:22] that's unfortunate. this package is somewhat special in the sense that it does not use langpacks, because it's among the ones necessary for a localized install. so you would want to patch the package source, which is rarely happening [17:23] so I have no idea what is easier, to convince Ubuntu packagers or to convince upstream folks [17:24] dpm: any idea what's best to do? [17:24] kelemengabor: thanks a lot [17:26] kelemengabor: »to convince upstream folks« we try that but gnome said no and so it will not change [17:26] but we can try it one more time … [17:26] anyway thanks for your help kelemengabor [17:27] yw :) [17:35] kelemengabor, UbuPhillup, I think convincing upstream should be the way to go. I think it might be easier to convince packagers if you can prepare a patched package and propose it for upload, but if things are done upstream it would require less work from everyone [17:35] (apart from the convincing upstream bit) [17:51] Thanks a lot [17:52] dpm
