=== Namidairo`bnc is now known as Namidairo
annerajben0, have you tried a nightly see if it has been fixed on the latest nightly?04:42
en0I have not. was getting my tool chain setup to install and saw the note on about grouper on the wiki. it said not to use saucy but that sorta defeats the purpose of getting involved.04:44
en0I see the comments on the bug report says you can get it "working" after reboots and keeping your fingers crossed. i will give it a try and see what happens.04:46
annerajben0, the notes may be old the nexus status page https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ArLs7UPtu-hJdDZDNWliMmV1YUJ3Zk1pQlpDdGp4VFE#gid=0 dosnt mention anything about gpu crashes.04:50
en0ah, yes but it does show asus nexus7 and blocked/broken :(04:51
en0I think i will get my hands on a galaxy and go from there. Thanks for the info annerajb04:54

mamenyakaI'm guessing your like 1510:11
iKillCypherfor trying to help I will just ask the development team.10:11
mamenyakaArchNemesis, well, is your device bootloader unlocked?10:12
mamenyakaiKillCypher, even the development team had it with you10:12
ArchNemesisno  :(   and i think  it required adb / USB to unlock10:12
iKillCypher....10:13
mamenyakaArchNemesis, yes, it requires fastboot10:13
mamenyakaiKillCypher, look, I may understand that you are very young and inexperienced10:13
mamenyakaiKillCypher, I don't want to insult you anymore10:14
mamenyakaiKillCypher, just think right for a moment10:14

iKillCypherwhat10:14
iKillCypherhello w-flo10:14
mamenyakaiKillCypher, constatly begging for help10:15
w-flohi iKillCypher10:15
mamenyakaiKillCypher, because on your own you can't do nothing10:15
mamenyakaiKillCypher, I'm guessing you asked for help even to fix that issue on your thread10:15
mamenyakaiKillCypher, which I already told you like ten times10:16
mamenyakaw-flo, do you have a moment?10:26
w-flomamenyaka, sure10:26
mamenyakaw-flo, have any idea about this?10:28
mamenyakawlan: loading driver v3.2.3.110b10:28
mamenyaka[   13.713867] wlan: [442:F :HDD] hdd_driver_init: WLAN device not found!!10:28
mamenyaka[   13.713867] wlan: driver load failure10:28
mamenyakaI have an insmod on post-fs-data10:29
w-flomamenyaka, that does not seem like the bcmdhd driver for my device.. *scratches head* I insmod the module on boot, not post-fs-data10:29
mamenyakaw-flo, for unflipped, this worked10:30
mamenyakaw-flo, for flipped, after ubuntu touch boots, I can manually insert it and works10:30
mamenyakafrom android shell10:30
w-flooh. maybe insert at a later time?10:30
mamenyakais there a later time?10:30
w-flonot sure at what time post-fs-data is triggered10:30
mamenyakawell, at 13.71...10:31
w-floboot   This is the first trigger that will occur when init starts10:31
w-flo   (after /init.conf is loaded)10:31
mamenyakahere is my init file: https://github.com/mamenyaka/android_device_sony_fusion3-common/blob/phablet-saucy/rootdir/init.qcom.rc10:32
w-floah, there is "device-added-<path>" .. maybe you can do "device-added-/dev/wifi-device-node" ?10:32
mamenyakahmmm10:32
w-flojust need to figure out if there is a wifi device node :)10:32
w-floor you can try "on boot"...10:33
mamenyakatried it10:33
mamenyakano luck10:33
mamenyakaalso, do you have any clue what this does? write /dev/wcnss_wlan 110:34
mamenyakathat's the wifi I guess10:34
w-floseems like it's the wifi, but not idea what it does10:36
w-floon device-added-/dev/wcnss_wlan   ? :D10:36
mamenyakathat's what I'm going for10:37
mamenyakaon device-added-/dev/wcnss_wlan10:37
mamenyaka    insmod /system/lib/modules/wlan.ko10:37
w-flolet's hope that device-added thing actually works. it's in the readme, but someone on xda says it doesn't work for him..10:38
mamenyakajust a quick build and we'll find out10:40
mamenyakawas that little monkey (iKill...) harassing everyone again lately?10:41
ikillcypher...10:42
ikillcyphernon of your business10:42
mamenyakaooh, so the you are10:42
mamenyakathere10:42
* ikillcypher added mamenyaka to ignore list..10:43
ikillcypherjeez I regret asking that dude for help.10:44
mamenyakaI know I'm ignored, but jeez, without that dude, you would have nothing to do here, because you had no working port10:45
mamenyakaand mostly I regret helping him, he started as a nice guy, but became a money hungry monster with no knowledge of anything10:46
w-flomamenyaka, I'm afraid that init binary is vaporware.. I haven't checked the source, but don't expect the device-added thing to trigger. Maybe they shouldn't put that into the readme then :/10:50
mamenyakagreat10:50
mamenyakawell then, can I see when the wifi device get's up?10:51
w-floI wonder why it's not up in "on boot"10:51
w-floyou'd expect everything to be in place so you can actually do something10:52
w-floNo idea how to fix that :(10:53
mamenyaka:(10:53
mamenyakaI will still try that device-added thing10:54
mamenyakaand thank you10:54
w-flomaybe you can start a script (non-blocking) from init, then "sleep 10" in that script, then insmod?10:55
mamenyakaas a last resort10:56
mamenyakathis is what wifi dev gives10:57
mamenyaka[    3.435852] wcnss_wlan probed in built-in mode10:57
mamenyaka[   12.797515] wcnss_wlan triggered by userspace10:57
mamenyaka[   13.393096] wcnss_wlan_ctrl_probe: SMD ctrl channel up10:57
w-floprobably no insmod because device-added doesn't work?10:58
mamenyakaof course10:58

mamenyakahi11:17
mrqtrosDo someone have good launchpad (or jenkins) experience?11:17
mamenyakaw-flo, okay, I give up, about that non-blocking script11:22
mamenyakaw-flo, I have other scripts here, is it ok if I put it here? https://github.com/mamenyaka/android_device_sony_fusion3-common/tree/phablet-saucy/rootdir/system/etc11:25
w-flomamenyaka, I've never seen that .. no idea!11:27
mamenyakaw-flo, in init I have like this copied from the other script loading:11:29
mamenyakaservice wlan /system/bin/sh /system/etc/init.qcom.wlan.sh11:29
mamenyaka    class late_start11:29
mamenyaka    user root11:29
mamenyaka    group system qcom_oncrpc11:29
mamenyaka    disabled11:29
mamenyaka    oneshot11:29
w-flo"disabled"?11:29
mamenyakaI will remove that11:29
mamenyakabut like all other services have disabled11:30
w-flohm. :D11:30
mamenyakabut I don't know about non-blocking11:32
w-flomamenyaka, I think services are non-blocking11:34
mamenyakaw-flo, how do I trigger the service?11:39
w-flomamenyaka, "start wlan" IIRC11:40
w-floinside the android container11:40
w-floIt should autostart if you removed "disabled" though11:40
w-flounless your late_start has problems firing, that is..11:41
mamenyakawhat user/group should I give it?11:42
mamenyakaroot?11:42
w-floprobably11:43
mamenyakaokay, I have start wlan in post-fs-data11:43
mamenyakaand the service11:44
mamenyakaservice wlan /system/bin/sh /system/etc/init.qcom.wlan.sh11:44
mamenyaka    class main11:44

Romanian34_salem .. u in OR or what state?11:49
mamenyakaRomanian34, for n7100 there is according the wiki11:49
Romanian34Re. Mamenyaka whats the link where you found .. i just searched wiki for "n7100 " and "ubuntu touch ".. nothing11:52
mamenyakaRomanian34, https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Devices11:52
mamenyakaw-flo, I am forever thankful!11:52
mamenyakaw-flo, it works!11:53
w-flomamenyaka, wow, great! It's a dirty hack, but at least it works :D11:55
Romanian34Thanks, they have a simi working product not working cellular radio yet :( which is the "phone" part i do need lol.. not sure how i mised the device page .. thanks11:55
Romanian34Has anyone tried running wine within Ubuntu Touch? for native .apk and .exe support also?11:57
w-floRomanian34, does wine support ARM?11:57
Romanian34I thought ubuntu phone was a full "ubuntu" port for ARM, intergrated for the "Android" services, I understand any native linux or "Ubuntu" app can run on Ubuntu Touch, so Wine should run correct?11:59
w-floI'm not sure if the wine magic depends on x86.. I mean, you can't just copy executable files (like firefox) from your intel desktop over to your phone and use them, you need the firefox source code, then compile that for ARM, and then you can use it on your phone. The good thing is, ubuntu compiled most of the ubuntu apps (including firefox I guess) for ARM so you can use them. However, exe files are usually for x86 only, not ARM12:01
w-floaccording to http://wiki.winehq.org/ARM , you can run windows RT applications using wine12:03
Romanian34I had worked on a Ubuntu port onto an old android phone HTC, which was no problem was able to run wine then the same as I could run other apps or programs made for linux , or my distro ubuntu, I undersand the base, though x86 vs. arm ect.  I have ran Wine on ubuntu over an HTC phone.. I was just never able to get Halo 1 for the PC fully working :) how I would like to play online on my Note 2 with a bluetooth keyboard and mo12:06
w-flothat's cool, didn't know it was possible12:07
Romanian34stacks of compress emulation.. it came down to the direct x render .. I had to re map a custom XP version into Wine for the "windows" then load the game within wine, but the direct X recall to the GPU would cause problems.12:08
mamenyakaRomanian34, can I ask where are u from?12:10
Romanian34Linux > Ubuntu Touch > Wine > XP > Halo.exe12:10
Romanian34Id hope my name says it Romania.. do live in the USA though..12:10
mamenyakathat's what I was going for12:11
mamenyakaI am from Romania too12:11

OrokuSakiIs it possible the developers for UT can allow us.. NOT to need fanotify and apparmor?16:39
OrokuSakiI think this happened to me, because I messed with my kernel security settings16:39
OrokuSakior lets say, we dont... "care about security" for our device. =)16:40
OrokuSakiLXC container doesn't seem to have apparmor and fonotify as a requirement..  from the LXC website16:41
stgraberOrokuSaki: lxc indeed doesn't need either of those, however the ubuntu-touch security model does (at least for apparmor), so I doubt it'll ever become optional16:45

ChocantoHey, what is the ubuntu SDK chan name ? I think I forgot it..18:08
Chocanto(and if an ubuntu sdk member is reading this, it's about the Arguments API)18:08
lydadoes anyone use the ivso bluetooth keyboard on a nexus 7 with ubuntu.18:19
Chocantomhall119: Hey, how are you ? :) I can't get the Arguments API working, do you who made it ? Maybe he can tell me how it work ?18:22
w-floOrokuSaki, why can't you enable apparmor? is your kernel that old?18:23
mhall119Chocanto: Kaleo made it, you can check with him tomorrow18:24
Chocantomhall119: Ok :) Thank you !18:24
mhall119Chocanto: #ubuntu-app-devel is that the channel you were looking for?18:24
w-floOrokuSaki, I enabled apparmor yesterday and modified the ubuntu easyprof template so apps can actually use the GPU driver, seems to work fine (for freshly installed click apps)18:25
Chocantomhall119: I thought they had their own channel but I think not18:25
mhall119not for the SDK, no18:25
mhall119just this one and #ubuntu-app-devel18:25
Chocantomhall119: I didn't know :) But now.. I know ! :D18:26
lydaok, i figured out how to right click, but now i can't do left clicks.18:52
lydaeven if i show the onscreen keyboard and click the normal mouse cursor button, it still doesn't work.18:53
lydaall touching the screen does now is act like i'm hovering over the places i touch.18:55
mhall119lyda: running what?19:19
mhall119I remember that bug when I was running Unity 7 on a Nexus 7 tablet19:19
lydawhich is exactly what i'm using!  :)19:20
lydais that a known issue?19:20
lydai rebooted (ugh) and the "mouse" is back to normal.19:20
mhall119yeah, I don't remember the cause of it, but it was pretty common19:20
mhall119something getting stuck in the X stack I think19:21
lydashould probably get a bluetooth mouse and pair that as well.19:21
mhall119yeah, I used the OTG cable and a USB mouse19:21
lydanow if i could only type a "-" i'd be all set.19:21
mhall119but Ubuntu Touch on the Nexus 7 is much, much nicer :)19:22
lydaamusingly the missing esc doesn't bother me because i first started using unix on a vt220 - which also lacked an esc.  so there's distant muscle memory for ctrl-[.19:22
lydaubuntu touch is a different thing?19:22
lydaah.  i see.19:23
lydaok...  well, do i get terminal?19:23

popeyahh, neat!19:47
lydaok, i never enabled adb for my nexus 7.  will i need to reinstall android to enable adb first?19:47
lydaor is there some cunning way using fastboot to do that...19:48
mhall119lyda: if you can get to a recovery console like cwm, you should be able to run it from there19:48
lydathe "recovery mode" on the fastboot screen?19:49
mhall119you can try19:50
mhall119I'm not an expert in this level stuff19:50
lydanope.  reinstalling android and then will set up adb.19:58
lydaand every time i type that i have flashbacks to ancient macs.19:58
lydapopey: so that image - that was ubuntu touch on a galaxy nexus?20:00

lydahttps://lists.launchpad.net/ubuntu-phone/msg02321.html20:07
popeythere are images for the main nexus devices, galaxy nexus, 4, 7, 1020:07

lydaif i go to system settings and then click wi-fi, nothing happens.21:07
lydaand same for bluetooth...21:09
mamenyakaw-flo, hi, have a moment?21:12
mhall119lyda: lots of stuff in system-settings isn't working yet21:12
mhall119they've been enabling them one by one21:13
mhall119lyda: drag down from the top to get the network manage indicator open, from there you should be able to find and connect to your wifi21:13
w-flomamenyaka, yes! :)21:14
mhall119lyda: if you need to enter a passphrase and it's not giving you that option (a known but with the latest network indicator) you can run 'phablet-network-setup' on your host machine while the tablet is connected via USB21:14
mamenyakamhall119, in settings, is the spell checker working?21:14
mhall119mamenyaka: I don't think so21:14
mhall119I haven't seen it try to correct anything for me anywya21:14
mamenyakamhall119, Just I found that it shows english uk, but when I go inside, english us is selcted21:14
mamenyakaw-flo, could you please check this out? why isn't this building?21:15
mamenyakaw-flo, https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_device_sony_common/tree/cm-10.1/extract_elf_ramdisk21:15
mamenyakaw-flo, I evaded it by using a very dirty hack21:15
mamenyakabut maybe I am missing something obvious21:16
w-floit's a large file.. do you still have the error message?21:16
lydawhat's the phablet password?21:16
mamenyakaphablet21:16
lydamhall119: thanks.21:16
mamenyakaw-flo, It just a no rule tomake target error21:17
lydamamenyaka: duh.  :)21:17
mamenyakaw-flo, coming from here: https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_device_sony_fusion3-common/blob/cm-10.2/custombootimg.mk21:17
w-flomaybe it depends on some android part that was removed from canonical repos21:18
mamenyakayes, but I checked it's deps21:18
mamenyakaI included external/elfutils21:19
lydamhall119: didn't work since my laptop is wired.21:27
lydabut sed worked instead. :)21:27
lydahm.  seems to me the other ubuntu is better.21:28
lydaubuntu touch is cute, but Not There Yet(tm).21:28
mamenyakaw-flo, so any idea?21:28
mamenyakaexact error is: make: *** No rule to make target `/home/andras/Android/UbuntuTouch/out/target/product/pollux_windy/utilities/extract_elf_ramdisk', needed by `/home/andras/Android/UbuntuTouch/out/target/product/pollux_windy/android-boot.img'.  Stop.21:29
w-flomamenyaka, not really, I'm not experienced with the android build system.. My only guess is that including "/device/sony/common" might be missing from your main Makefile, but that seems unlikely21:30
mamenyakawhich one is the main Makefile?21:31
w-flocore/main.mk21:31
w-floin build/21:31
mamenyakaoh yes21:32
mamenyakaw-flo, I really don't know how you do it, but thanks again! it builds now!21:50
w-flomamenyaka, thanks :) I guess it's years of suffering from all kinds of build / linux issues :D21:59

ixtiunfortunately i can't see it while it's in recovery mode :((23:33
ixtidoes anybody had same issue? o_O23:33
nhainesixti: yes, that does happen sometimes.  You have to add a udev rules file.23:50
nhainesThat'll fix the problem permanently.23:50
ixtihm... in factc i tried :D23:51
ixtii mean i have these rules23:51
nhainesixti: what version of Android is on your phone?23:52
ixti4.323:53
nhainesMost documentation doesn't have the identifier for maguro on 4.3.23:53
ixtiwhat do you mean?23:53
nhainesPrecisely what I said.  Most documentation that gives an example rules file is outdated.23:53
ixtiah. no. identifier is correct23:54
ixtiwhen it's loaded (android) i can connect usb23:54
ixtiand see with dmesg:23:54
ixti[ 4987.876169] usb 1-1: New USB device found, idVendor=18d1, idProduct=d00223:54
nhainesThere's a different identifier in recovery mode.23:54
nhainesAnd it changed from 4.2 to 4.3.23:54
