[00:56] I'm having issues trying to a do a clean install of 13.04 64bit on my desktop from a USB drive. I can't even get the try ubuntu to work. [00:57] I'm not sure where to start to fix this [00:57] ryku: did you MD5 check the ISO? [00:57] no, I'll do that now [01:00] does cde56251d6cae5214227d887dee3bab7 sound right? [01:05] * jose checks for you [01:06] ryku: not at all [01:06] oops, hold on [01:06] let me check that again [01:06] 8d72e2db7e72e13813731eab37a14d26 should be your hash [01:06] ok [01:06] otherwise, your ISO is corrupted [01:08] ok, yes I do have the same hash [01:08] then it's corrupted, try downloading again (I suggest torrents) [01:09] Sorry, I meant that I have the same hash as the one you posted [01:10] oh, then, is it booting? [01:11] Installation is successful [01:11] however, when I try to log in it crashes [01:13] I get the main screen to appear in a very low resolution, then when I try to click on anything, it just freezes [01:15] !nomodeset | ryku [01:15] ryku: A common kernel (boot)parameter is nomodeset, which is needed for some graphic cards that otherwise boot into a black screen or show corrupted splash screen. See http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1613132 on how to use this parameter [01:15] ryku, try a low graphic boot [01:16] how can I do a low graphic boot? [01:16] ryku, click the link I triggered the bot yoou. [01:16] you* [01:17] ok, I'll check there. Thank you [01:18] ryku, Is your hardware up to the task to run ubuntu? [01:19] Yes, I had 12.04 running smoothly until a recent update removed my nvidia graphics card drivers [01:22] I decided just to upgrade, and now it seems same graphics card issues [01:22] ryku, YOu running drivers from nvidia rather than the repos? [01:23] I used to install the restricted nvidia drivers [01:24] ryku, proprietary drivers generally don't follow kernel updates/upgrades nor a distro upgrade [01:30] Ok, it looks like toggling the nomodeset parameter will get this to work. Thanks for the help guys! [15:05] looking for help Ubuntu 13.04 on a dell. I can't connect to a network [15:05] any suggestions? [15:14] that could be a lot of things [15:14] do you have a link atleast? [15:14] you usually check hardware [15:23] i just inured it out [15:24] had to run some term stuff and install a new driver
