hydroafter installing lubuntu and rebooting, i'm taking to a boot screen where i can select what i want to boot of off and selecting anything just restarts the computer01:11
hydrothis happened to me once before and i managed to fix it by setting up a boot flag in my root partition01:11
hydrothis time i let the lubuntu installer set up my partitions automatically, and there already seems to be a boot flag in the root partition01:12
hydrowhen i open gparted i get an error "/dev/sdb contains GPT signatures, indicating that it has a GPT table.  However, it does not have a valid fake msdos partition table, as it should.  Perhaps it was corrupted -- possibly by a program that doesn't understand GPT partition tables.  Or perhaps you deleted the GPT table, and are now using an msdos partition table.  Is this a GPT partition table?"01:13
=== lubuntu is now known as Guest87294
Guest87294how do i install flash?02:57
Unit193Install lubuntu-restricted-extras, which should install adobe-flashplugin or flashplugin-installer.02:59
Guest87294how big is it in size03:00
Guest87294lubuntu-restricted-extras?03:00
Unit193It depends on several packages, but not too bad.03:01
testererproblem:  no wifi in lubuntu 13.  chipset Ralink 257104:44
testererlsusb reveals my wifi dongle is connected.04:44
testererI want to connect WiFi via the command line (I'04:44
testererI did the following:  ifconfig wlan0 up  (followed by)  iwconfig wlan0 ssid xxxxxxx key yyyyyy (followed by) dhclient wlan004:46
testererno go.04:46
testererThat's the usual process to get WiFi up and running from terminal isn't it?  Not working.  Faulty ralink driver??04:47
testererI know my WiFi works with an older kernel/distro cause I was using it.  But it fails in Lubuntu 13.04:49
testererLooks like the Lubuntu developers botched the USB WiFi yet again...05:26
bioterrorwhat do you mean?05:26
testerer2 of my wifi dongles fail to connect05:26
testererThey certainly work with kernel 2.6.32.x05:27
bioterror2.6. :o05:27
testererBut they don't work in Lubuntu raring.05:28
testererthe drivers are certainly there. I checked with lsmod05:28
testererrt2500usb and rt2x00usb05:29
testererI'm thinking there's a fault somewhere with udev05:29
testerermaybe i need to make a new udev rule or something?05:31
testererI had a similar problem recently with my USB scanner not working.  Know how i fixed it?05:33
testererI added a new rule to:   /lib/udev/rules.d/40-libsane.rules05:34
testererNow the scanner is detected and works fine.05:34
testererYou think my USB WiFi may have a similar solution?05:34
testererI may have to downgrade my lubuntu/ubuntu version.. Never mind. Bye05:46
tux_which version should i get?08:35
hateballtux_: Of what?08:55
tux_lubuntu09:00
tux_why does Debian-LXDE use half the memory than lubuntu?09:22
tux_i was shocked it only used around 50MB on boot, it is almost close to Slitaz which uses less than 30MB on boot, both distros use LXDE09:24
tux_why does lubuntu seem bloated in comparison?09:24
testererLubuntu 13.04 is bugged to the max.   Won't apt-get update security.   GPG key errors10:20
testererI'm using the default installation to apt-get update and the repos are broken..damnit10:20
testererShould i erase the entire sources.list file and change repos?10:21
testererGPG error:  http://security.ubuntu.com raring-security Release The following signatures were invalid:  BADSIG <lengthy keycode>10:25
testererEncountered a section with no package:  header10:25
testererDoes everyone else get this problem or did I do something wrong?10:26
testererI should mention I installed using the alternate .iso10:26
testererlubuntu-13.04-alternate-i386.iso10:28
testererAlso the kernel wifi driver set hardware encyrption ON by default causing my wifi to crash...Hardware encyption should be off10:29
testererand iwconfig has to power off the wifi unit first before it works:  iwconfig wlan0 power off10:30
testererA new release, a new pile of bugs....10:31
testererok i fixed it partially and can apt-get upgrade...hoping fore the best..11:02
testereri might have had a corrupt installation either from CD or lost/corrupt packets from Wifi11:03
testerermoving on..11:03
testerer<back.  I fixed my wifi and apt-get. (after much command lining) :-p   Works fine now11:28
testerermark this as problem solved :- )11:30

holycrapforcraphi, just tried to install lubuntu 13.04 i368 desktop on an old omnibook x3, installer behaves completely strange. not like it should = not like its covered on the help page. i'll try for the alternate installer now which would have been the better option anyway. now there is the same problem i always end up - dead outdated links on the help pages, or outdated infos12:30
holycrapforcrapanyone out there who can link me to the official alternate install iso?12:31
holycrapforcrapwould be highly appreciated12:31
Unit193I'd check the md5sum and burn.12:31

Unit193/usr/share/themes/22:46
testererThere should be way more chatters here since lubuntu is the most aweseme OS ;-)23:13
testererexcept for a wee problem:23:13
testerersudoers is not accepting this command:  user1 ALL=NOPASSWD: /usr/bin/shutdown -h now23:14
testererI want to allow "shutdown" to be run as root (or sudo without having to provide a password).23:15
Unit193I'd assume lxsession-logout doesn't count.23:26
testererUnit193..i deleted lxde/openbox/lightdm and using icewm23:28
testererthat's why i need a custom shutdown script or sudoers permission to root shutdown23:28
testererbut sudoers refuses to make "shutdown" execute as admin23:29
Unit193And if you drop " -h now"?23:29
Unit193unit193 ALL = NOPASSWD: /usr/sbin/hddtemp23:29
Unit193Did you happen to read /etc/sudoers.d/README ?23:30
testererok i'll give that a try23:37
