bjrohanI have been having problems with fonts in FireFox. In going through the fonts in the Prefrences section it appears that Arial font is the culprit as selecting it gives me the issue, where others do not. How do I replace this Arial with one that works?04:49
bjrohanIs it in my home dir, the usr share ?04:49
jinzougenCan anyone tell me my best bet for getting Korean language input to work on Kubuntu 13.04?05:00
jinzougenibus seems to be broken; running ibus-setup generates a "locale not supported" error05:01
Tm_Tjinzougen: hi, is the issue reported on launchpad?05:06
jinzougensorry I ducked out for a second. I'm trying to get ibus working on kubuntu 13.04 for hangul... When I run im-switch i get a very strange error: E: (process:11650): is bogus configuration for Gtk-WARNING. Doing nothing.05:24
jinzougeni can't even find it on google05:25
RaymondTracerThe Kubuntu copying dialog cant even calculate how fast files are copying05:48
RaymondTracerAre SSD's too quick?05:48
RaymondTracerOr do the hard drives report the speed and the code that reads it isnt working properly?05:49

FloodBotK1!netsplit06:09
ubottunetsplit is when two IRC servers of the same network (like freenode) disconnect from each other, so users on one server stop seeing users on the other. If this is happening now, just relax and enjoy the show. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netsplit06:09
anonymous_no one worked with samba4 so far on kubuntu ?06:16

ovidiu-florinn8w: you use an editor like emacs or vim for files07:04
ovidiu-florinand for output, you just forward it to a file07:04
n8wovidiu-florin, ye well i mean in a regular cmd... e.g. ps aux | grep python, how do i select "aux" without using a mouse?07:05
lordievaderOr you pipe it to grep or something.07:05
ovidiu-florinI don't know of a way to do that07:06
lordievaderecho "ps aux | grep python"|awk '{print $2}'07:06
ovidiu-florinnormally you shouldn't need to do that07:06
ovidiu-florinlordievader: :)07:06
ovidiu-florinlordievader: do you know anything about the kubuntu installer?07:07
lordievaderWhy do you need to select "aux" anyway?07:07
lordievaderovidiu-florin: I know it is writting in Python.07:07
ovidiu-florinhow about log files from it?07:08
ovidiu-florinwhat's it's name? ubiquity? or?07:08
lordievaderovidiu-florin: Might very well be in /var/log/ubiquity07:08
ovidiu-florinok, thanks07:09
alvinThe built-in mysql database that akonadi uses is corrupt. How can I fix this? (or remove the database. I suppose it will be rebuild?)07:59

opifhello, I have a certain problem I couldn't find a solution to, is this the right place to ask?08:58
ovidiu-florinif we knew what your problem was, maybe we could tell you.09:01
ts9iopif: ask, then wait and hope for an answer. don't ask to ask09:01
opifokay. Recently I noticed that my system clock was off by a couple of minutes, so I used the `adjust date and time` option on the digital clock widget, and then used the `set date and time automatically` option, from the pool.ntp.org server. This set the UTC clock correctly, but also set my chosen timezone (Europe/Warsaw) to be equal to UTC. I can't seem to find an option to fix this. I'm using Kubuntu 13.04, it's up to date.09:06
Graf_Westerholtopif, there is a command from the terminal. I cannot remember, but you will find. It helped me.09:12
ovidiu-florinopif: ntpd -q09:22
ovidiu-florinthis is the command09:22
ovidiu-florinopif: this command syncs just now09:26
ovidiu-florinit does not set up a daemon09:26
ovidiu-florinthe daemon should already be active09:27
opifmy core clock is set correctly currently, so syncing it again won't help. the problem is that my chosen timezone behaves like it was equal to UTC, while it should be GMT+0200. is there a cure for this?09:32
ovidiu-florinopif: are you reffering to the digital clock widget?09:33
ovidiu-florinopif: go to System Settings -> Date & Time -> Time Zone and make sure the correct timezone is selected09:35
opifevery app using the local timezone believes that Europe/Warsaw is equal to UTC.  the digital clock was the one to bork it up in the first place, though.09:35
opifoh I already did that. The correct timezone is set. It just doesn't behave correctly.09:35
Graf_Westerholtopif, I had your problem, too. I fixed it with a terminal-command.09:36
opifwell I'm pretty sure that the time offsets have to be saved somewhere in the system so it knows how to adjust time based on a timezone. I don't know where to find those settings though... :) 09:37
Graf_Westerholtopif, are you ignoring me?09:37
opifno Graf, I am in fact not ignoring you, I do know that there is a way to fix this09:38
ovidiu-florintry to uncheck the UTC from the digital clock settings and check your timezone. also set the default to your timezone, instead of local09:38
Graf_Westerholtopif, try sudo dpkg-reconfigure tzdata 09:39
opifwell, this did something :d irssi now shows the correct time, and from what I can tell other apps are as well... with the exception of the digital clock widget09:41
opifbut this will do09:41
opifthank you09:41
Graf_Westerholtopif so what did you do?09:41
opifI used your recommendation09:42

EvilRoeywhy are my colors in Flash inverted?15:15
EvilRoeyBluesKaj:  I am experiencing this issue: http://askubuntu.com/questions/117127/flash-video-appears-blue15:18
geniiEvilRoey: Probably because you have hardware acceleration enabled in the flash player in combination with using nvidia driver15:19
EvilRoeyyeahhhhhh15:19
EvilRoeybut they say it's an adobe bug15:19
EvilRoeygenii:  and one of the proposed workarounds on that page is to disable HW acceleration as you suggested.15:19
EvilRoeygenii:  but they go deeper and offer more specific suggestions15:20
EvilRoeyI'm asking if anyone here has seen htis15:20
geniiEvilRoey: Yes, I have. Disabling the acceleration/vdpau solved it15:20
