=== DJOmnifrog is now known as Omnifrog [00:18] I dunno cyberanger [00:18] the station admins handle that sort of thing [00:19] hey cyberanger [00:20] Omnifrog: be curious to know [00:20] how's it going twayneprice [00:25] we use a shoutcast server so I assume the encoder licensing for mp3 is done through that [00:26] yep, and some accounting records for the songs too [00:27] all i know how to do is get on the streams and play shitty music [00:27] who and how the MAFIAA (note the two "A"'s there) gets paid [00:27] and once in awhile good music [00:27] I bounce around between genres so as not to get bored [00:28] tomorrow night may be a lot of 80's pop or a bunch of hair metal or more disco [00:29] I have no idea what I'll do [00:29] heh [00:29] caught that with the disco vs nelly bit [00:30] the end of tonights show I was in hiccup mode [00:30] the DJ that was supposed to show up at 8pm ... didn't [00:31] so my planned songs, timed to get me out on the hour had to be scrapped [00:33] food someone show up? [00:33] did? silly phone [00:34] lol [00:34] whoops [00:34] cyberanger: I need a telepathic keyboard [00:34] they did show up [00:35] Jolson overslept [00:35] I dunno if that's a good thought wrst, I'm already scared of my own thoughts, do I want to read yours too? [00:35] Omnifrog: happens [00:35] yep [00:35] no biggie for me [00:36] I can keep going for ages [00:36] my longest show to date is 18 hours [00:36] cyberanger: just want my keyboard to read them not you:) [01:15] Omnifrog: do you use software when you dj? [01:15] I do [01:15] well, that sort of goes without saying [01:16] I use IDJC [01:16] Just curious what you use. I guess they don't use a couple of turntable anymore. :) [01:17] idjc looks interesting [01:18] it is a pain in the ass and I hope everyone that has anything to do with the Linux sound architecture and jackd in particular gets a venereal disease [01:18] seriously [01:18] I hate those people [01:19] But how do you really feel? :) [01:21] heh [01:25] does it require an internet connection? [01:26] personally I do like pulseaudio under some conditions, but I keep to arch [01:26] yeah, to send it to the streaming server [01:26] Omnifrog: jack can be trying :) [01:40] err, not arch, alsa [01:40] (installing servers nearly all day, long day) [01:40] padevchooser, handy. [01:42] sending the audio to a netbook sitting on the speakers [01:42] makes for a nice home theater setup [01:47] yes. jack can be a jerk [01:49] I've been fighting with IDJC and jack for a year and a half [01:49] I HATE audio in Linus with a passion [01:49] Linux* [01:53] Omnifrog: Use a lowlat kernel too? [01:54] I don't [01:54] never really needed to [01:54] Alrighty. [02:16] Unit193: I've never found the low latency kernel to really be any better [02:16] using ardour and jack with a pretty decent audio interface as long as I have been 64 bit everything has been good [02:17] Yeah, you have to really pay attention, or do something that needs to be instant to notice. [02:34] well I was recording multitrack audio [02:35] so that's pretty instant and latency has never been an issue for me with the regular kernel [02:35] I trieal the RT kernel but it caused more trouble than it ever solved [02:36] twayneprice: I think I'm back to using plex. freenas now has a plugin so that really solves my issues of not having something to run it on [02:48] I has to have a RTsleepd [02:49] night geeks and nerds [02:49] :D === Omnifrog is now known as Omnifrog|pond [02:50] night Omnifrog|pond [02:51] oh, before I go [02:52] One giant leap for frogkind [02:52] http://lwn.net/Articles/566996/ [02:52] night [02:53] ribbit [11:27] Good morning everyone. [11:27] Howdy. [11:33] mroning tenc, Unit193! [11:34] ^^ [11:36] eeveryone got friday morning starting off well? [11:36] i cant type [11:37] So far so good. New keyboard? [11:37] nope old fingers :) [11:37] :) [11:46] and it appears Unit193 has finally taken a nap [11:47] Nooope. [11:47] sure [11:47] oh yeah I fogto Unit193 you never slee [11:47] p [11:47] ugh [11:47] my typing :\ [11:47] Could break a finger and we'd never notice. ;) [11:49] could probably lose a hand and no one would notice [11:54] wrst: what does the freenas plugin do? [11:55] its an easy way of using a bsd jail in freenas [11:57] gotcha. [11:58] I really didn't have the need or a machine to run plex I would use it on occassion but not enough to run a machine all the time so this eliminates that issue for me twayneprice, now I can run it on good hardware that I'm already running [11:58] and freenas uses a lot of ram and plex uses more processor to transcode so I'm actually using all of the machine now :) [11:59] wrst: :) I really like plex. [11:59] i do also just wasnt something we used a lot [12:01] but bri loves watching videos of herself so this will certainly make that easier with the roku [12:02] I use PlexIt all the time. It is a bookmarklet that finds the video on the page and adds it to your plex queue. I don't usually watch videos at work but when I come across one I can just plexit and watch it later on the roku. [12:02] that is nice i have missed not having youtube on the roku also [12:03] Yup. That is the easiest watch to watch youtube for me. [12:04] we have a directv app but it is pretty clunky and with the roku i.can use the mobile apps keyboard to type searches [12:05] Ah. Good point. I rarely use the ruku mobile app. [12:06] i do just for the keyboard. the actual remote for everything else is nice and simple [12:08] Yea, I like their remote. I would like the roku 3 remote, though. [12:09] the headphone jack is pure genius I think [12:09] we may get another roku [12:09] I may make a point to actually [12:11] I agree. You can give your old one to the grandparents and they can watch the videos on your freenas. :) [12:13] they have one already plan is to move the old one to a room for the little one [12:15] She's getting big. How old is she? [12:17] two going on about 25 [12:22] I hear ya. The granddaughter is is 14 months. They grow up quickly. [12:23] yes bri just talks all the time I have a feeling this will only get worse too [12:27] yup [12:30] We're expecting our first in Feb. [12:31] Most of the house looks like a construction zone getting the nursery ready. [12:32] ha ha yep and so much stuff that you will prepare that will be a total waste, but you don't know what parts will be :) [12:33] So it goes, right? We're thrilled and I like house projects besides... except painting. [12:33] yes I despise painting with all my heart :) [12:34] Odd. I hate painting also but my wife likes to paint. [12:35] I think if I had the time it wouldn't be so bad [12:35] but trying to do it for a couple hours at night is just torture [12:42] I could work out in the yard all day or anything with hammer and nails and life is good. I'm not sure what it is about painting that just doesn't do it for me. === Omnifrog|pond is now known as Omnifrog [12:57] morning Omnifrog [12:57] yep tenc i think i may get too much help from my non-painting wife also and that hampers my love for painting [12:58] morning wrst [12:58] morning tenc twayneprice [13:00] Mornin' Omnifrog [13:00] Geez wrst I think your hand trouble is catching; I just had to retype my pw 3 times. [13:09] ha ha you can keep it tenc! I don't want it back :) [13:11] morning Omnifrog [14:17] 'Define' is to dictionary as ____ is to thesaurus. Is there such a word? [14:21] tenc: I don't think there is a word. Define means "to get the definition of". I can't think of a word that means "to get the synonym of". [14:21] There should be such a word. [14:22] "Synonymize"? :) [14:23] Actually that is the word! :) [14:24] Hah! Look at that. [14:24] Nice. [14:27] I thought 'alias' might work but this is kind of interesting: alias /verb/ [physics][telecommunications] 1. misidentify (a signal frequency), introducing distortion or error. [14:29] Of course many thesaurus have antonyms too. Antonymize? :) [14:30] oh the grammar of it all, this is like talking to my wife [14:31] Google should interpret 'synonymize' the same way it interprets 'define'. [14:31] Antonymize, I love it. [14:34] Now I need to synonymize currentness. [15:13] wrst: I got an "A" in English and that ain't not bad! :) [15:21] no that's not :) [15:31] ain't not bad? [15:31] lol [15:46] ain't not, you did good, or actually you did well, you used a word you shouldn't use and combined it to be a double negative also [15:48] double negatives are a no no [15:50] twayneprice: serously, an "A" is good work [15:55] wb tenc [15:55] thanks wrst [18:11] Sigh. Finish one meeting and then grab a bite and back to another one. There should be a law against meetings on Friday. :) [18:15] there is, but the same places also ban alcohol, require a Hijab, and aren't a fan of citizens of the zionist regime or the great satan [18:26] twayneprice: I think banning meetings all together would not be a terrible thing :) === Omnifrog is now known as DJOmnifrog [21:08] good luck spinnin' the tunes DJOmnifrog [21:09] ugh [21:09] I had to get up from a nap [21:10] oh no [21:10] :) [21:24] so it's gonna be DJDrowsyZZzz
