wissamHi ,How to know if a usb drive is mounted in sync or async mode?00:36
SonikkuAmerica!crosspost | wissam 00:37
ubottuwissam: Please don't ask the same question in multiple Ubuntu channels at the same time. Many helpers are in more than one channel and it's not fair to them or the other people seeking support.00:37
wissamSonikkuAmerica: uh sorry.00:38

ubuntu____hi all08:08
ubuntu____something really weird happened: i put in win7 recovery cd, just checked options and rebooted. previously i had kubuntu12.04, now i'm on live cd and partition editor says about my previous  kubuntu partition it's unallocated. wtf happened?08:10
rosco_yDoes anyone know why the HP Device Manager - Plug-in Installer runs every time I login to my account?08:18
ubuntu____rosco_y:  probably cos it's amog start-up packages08:19
ubuntu____please help i'm desperate http://paste.kde.org/pf9be1b20/08:22
rosco_yubuntu____: ty.  It was in the start-up packages at first.  I thought I'd solved the problem when I removed it from the statup-packages, but it's still running when I login08:30
ubuntu____rosco_y: is that a laptop? why is it disturbing?08:31
rosco_yubuntu____: no, this is my desktop.  It's disturbing because I have to interact with the Device Manager Plug-in Installer software every time I login, and if I ignore it, it results in a gksu error.  I can install it every time and it works fine, but it's a nuisance08:39
ubuntu____rosco_y: so it wants to install itself everytime?08:44
rosco_yubuntu____: ty, yes.  Not just on reboot, but also if I logout and log back in08:46
ubuntu____rosco_y: what happens if you type in terminal> sudo hp-pugin08:47
rosco_yubuntu____: ty, I'll check.....08:48
rosco_yubuntu____: the same installer runs08:49
rosco_ymaybe installing it with sudo will clear up the problem?08:49
rosco_yworth a try :)08:50
ubuntu____rosco_y:  remove previous installs first08:50
rosco_y:ooch, do you know how to do that?08:51
rosco_yI'll see if running the hp-plugin software with sudo made a difference--the previous installs were run with gksu, which seems to have issues08:53
rosco_yI think it has a chance08:53

alvinHi people. What are you guys using for Twitter client? I liked http://choqok.gnufolks.org/ , but the Kubuntu package has been defunct for months11:45
skramer_I´ve got a problem with smb4k: Trying to mount a share from my other PC, it´s all the time asking for user/password but not mounting the share. User and pass are both correct, but anyway I can´t get acces to the share...11:49
skramer_any idea what might be the problem?11:50
soeewhere are stored scripts added to Amarok ?11:53
Riddellsoee: ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok maybe?11:54
BluesKajHiyas all11:54
soeeRiddell, yes thank you11:55
skramer_alvin:this PPA https://launchpad.net/~adilson/+archive/experimental/+packages provides the latest release (1.4). However, use PPA´s at your own risk....11:57
alvinIndeed, but it also contains other packages and I only want Choqok. I'd rather use an official package. (like in kubuntu-ppa or kubuntu-backports)11:58
alvinAccording to https://launchpad.net/choqok the version inclused in Saucy will also simply not work11:59
alvinOtherwise, I'd backport it myself11:59
skramer_alvin: the PPA contains other packages, but you could only upgrade choqok... Still, it is not an official package...12:03
alvinI'd settle for a .deb file. Let's see if I can download that12:04
skramer_yes, you should be able to download it manually from that PPA & the install it using gdebi or dpkg.12:04
alvinIndeed. That worked. I do get a "parsing error", but other than that, messages are loaded. This is a start.12:05
skramer_alvin: :)12:06

qqz_Hi. I tried to install some proprietary graphics drivers. I also installed vaoifand, a tool to control my fan. I rebooted, and now I am presented with a tty. alt+shift+f7 does not help, it shows a black screen. startx does not work "failed to create screen resources". What do I do?21:39
qqz_I uninstalled the drivers now with a sh script, and it booted succesfuly!!21:44

ubottuPlease don't ask to ask a question, simply ask the question (all on ONE line and in the channel, so that others can read and follow it easily). If anyone knows the answer they will most likely reply. :-) See also !patience22:20
