I get the error: "Cannot login". Why I try to login to mysql using the mythtv user I get access denied for user 'mythtv@localhost'. I let myth do the whole automatic table setup thing [15:56] stevie_man, is mysql started [15:57] tgm4883: yes, I was looking at the logs and I think mythbackend was using the hosts entry for 127.0.0.1 I had that said zues (name of the server) and not the one that said localhost [15:58] stevie_man, so 'mysql -u mythtv -p mythconverg' gives you access denied? [15:58] yep [15:59] odd [15:59] very [15:59] I'd try resetting it [15:59] !mysql [15:59] If you are having problems connecting to your mysql database, perform the following to reconfigure it: [1] sudo dpkg-reconfigure mysql-server-5.5 (pay attention to the root password you set, you will need it later) [2] sudo dpkg-reconfigure mythtv-database [3] sudo dpkg-reconfigure mythtv-common [15:59] I'm going to wipe everything and try again with the 127.0.0.1 zues entry commented out [16:05] So here is my mythbackend log. http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/6184448/ [16:05] Yes I know I'm using .24 it's for testing only before I switch everythinf over to .27 [16:11] stevie_man, did you go though mythtv-setup? [16:11] stevie_man, that is so old, i'm not even sure I remember all of the oddities of it [16:15] yah, that's what is generated when I do the mythtv-setup [16:27] what is this? Using configuration directory = /var/lib/mythtv/.mythtv [16:27] when I try to cd into it I'm told it is not a directory and when I try to edit it it's not a file [16:28] it looks like it thinks that is the home directory for the mythtv user [16:28] what did you do? [16:28] Nothing that I know of [16:28] what version of ubuntu is this? [16:29] I'm on Debian Squeeze [16:29] ok, where did you install the packages from? [16:32] from www.deb-multimedia.org [16:33] hmm [16:33] stevie_man, so for some reason, their packages are looking in that directory for the config files [16:33] * tgm4883 shrugs [16:34] even better the setup didn't create the mysql users this time around [16:34] oh that one was my fault [16:35] stevie_man, this is why I tend to recommend mythbuntu [16:35] yah, this is only a test, a prove of concept before I replace my working mediaportal frontends with mythbuntu [16:38] so even before I run the ,ythtv-setup the user cannot connect to the database [16:41] is the user even setup in the database? [18:20] tgm4883: The user was setup in the database twice. One @localhost and once @% [18:42] What does the mythbuntu-repos.deb file do? (located at http://www.mythbuntu.org/files/mythbuntu-repos.deb) [18:43] stevie_man, it adds the repos tab to MCC for versions prior to 12.04 [18:44] ah, can I use this to install .25 then? (11.04?) [18:46] yea I think it's still available [18:46] yea it's still available === dahlSTROM is now known as dahlSTROM|sleep [20:02] tgm4883: how do I use the mythbuntu repo installer package once it is installed? [20:03] stevie_man, you need mythbuntu-control-centre [20:05] oh so I need to be in mythbuntu to use the repo-installer? [20:05] stevie_man, no, mythbuntu-control-centre is another package. the repo installer is a plugin for i [20:11] ah, I guess there isn't a control centre for Debian === dahlSTROM|sleep is now known as dahlSTROM === dahlSTROM is now known as dahlSTROM|sleep
