[01:15] Hello. I heard that 13.10 supported optimus in a way different from bumblebee. I've been unhappy with my card's performance under optirun... it's only barely better than the integrated! So I installed Xubuntu 13.10's beta to try it out, and it just... doesn't work. It just hangs at the splash screen and I never see lightdm. What do I have to do to enable the new prime support? === bazhang_ is now known as bazhang [05:46] hey there, i see the new system settings has landed, but for now lacking a keyboard settings component. is everyone else seeing that? i presume keyboard settings is still coming? and how does one move "back" in settings? [08:17] Has the new udev (204) broken the behaviour of 70-persistent-net.rules renaming? On a 13.10 server udev generated the file as expected, I edited it to shuffle the names around, but on boot it fails to rename the interfaces leading to no connectivity [08:37] Finding a decent mirror for italy is somehow difficult [09:09] I am not able to do a network installation of 13.10 on a laptop... it hangs on "ip link set wlan up" and I get "INFO: task ip:1930 blocked for more than 120 seconds." in dmesg... http://pastebin.com/bQ200dfy [09:10] If I remove the wlan card from the laptop the installation works as expected. [09:10] How should I report this? [09:11] You're missing a firmware file, as per that log file: "ieee80211 phy0: brcmsmac: fail to load firmware brcm/bcm43xx-0.fw" [09:12] broadcom devices need their firmware 'cutting' from other binaries, often from the Windows drivers. [09:12] I am not using wlan for installation... [09:12] On 13.04 I get a question about this and after answer no to the question it just continues. [09:17] qtcreator can't run gdb since last update. any known solution? === roflin_ is now known as roflin [11:00] howdy all [11:06] hi whens the next release cadidate out? [11:07] candidate* [11:11] hi whens the next release candidate out? [11:13] Dubacco, read the topic [12:13] Just noticed that the HUD doesn't let me log out / shut down anymore. Is this intended behaviour or should I report it? [12:35] question, is there any centeralized certificate management solution for linux yet? === BluesKaj_ is now known as BluesKaj [14:08] I patched line 98 in /bin/ethdetect in the initrd so it does not return wlan0 and now I can do a network installation of Ubuntu 13.10 ... This is just an ugly workaround until we can find the real problem. [16:18] installed xubuntu b2 yesterdays, power manager informs me that 'hibernate and suspend operations are not supported' but I can suspend the machine manually just fine, what's up with that? [16:25] kRush: the beta images and the daily one don't ship with pm-utils [16:25] https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xubuntu-meta/+bug/1232027 [16:25] Ubuntu bug 1232027 in xubuntu-meta (Ubuntu) "pm-utils not installed by default in 13.10" [Medium,Confirmed] [16:27] oops, thanks === jdrab_ is now known as jdrab [18:15] quit [19:40] hello. [19:41] Hello odium . Could you please put the contents of the file "/etc/apt/sources.list" onto http://paste.ubuntu.com [19:41] So, I am trying to set the proper governor for my AMD A10-6800 socket FM2 [19:41] One step ahead [19:42] sure, one second [19:43] rory, http://paste.ubuntu.com/6193683/ [19:44] Thanks odium . Can you uncomment the line that says "deb http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu saucy partner" (by removing the #) and then save it? [19:44] odium: Then run "sudo apt-get update" and try again [19:48] okay, I finally ran apt-get update [19:48] sorry for the delay [19:50] update doesn't do anything unless you run upgrade as well [19:51] Rory: apt-cache search powernowd doesn't yield anything still. [19:51] !info powernowd [19:51] Package powernowd does not exist in saucy [19:51] THat'll be why then :P [19:51] hmm, but I want to change my regulator [19:52] my governor, I meant. [19:55] what am I looking at here? https://code.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-branches/ubuntu/saucy/powernowd/saucy [20:02] odium: some source code [20:06] well i have the sources in /usr/src I guess I better get to it. [20:08] Citizens! I think i finally figured out my Ubuntu issue! That i've had since my adoption of Ubuntu in December of 2012! How do I read up on "txpower", options available with it, and to make the changes permanent? [20:13] Ponch0: man iwconfig for how to apply txpower option of that command. Once you have that figured out, put the command in /etc/rc.local [20:17] Thanks so much genii: that's going in my gedit. [20:20] aw, I can't seem to run make menuconfig because ncurses-devel can't be installed. [20:22] oh, if powernow_k8 is compiled into my kernel, then that isn't the problem. === dmitrykorotkov_ is now known as dmitrykorotkov [23:23] no bugs to report [23:23] saucy = great prerelease [23:24] too bad xmir didnt make it [23:24] xmir? [23:26] oh, new xorg alternative? cool [23:26] a x compatibility layer for the new MIR display server [23:26] i want it, as soon as it's usable :P [23:36] you want something you didn't know about ? [23:37] its new? and shiny? i want it! :) [23:38] ^ = fail [23:39] (although I know you jest) [23:40] :P [23:41] what is the benefit of adding an extra layer? it's still xorg, just on top of mir [23:42] brainwash: and you need something that glues xorg into mir. and that is xmir [23:47] right, but mir isn't ready yet, so why run xmir instead of plain X? [23:51] brainwash, Mir is ready. Way more ready than XMir [23:51] But nothing is ready for Mir. [23:51] (it doesn't matter, X/Mir isn't getting used by default in 13.10) [23:52] just downloading linuxmint 15 [23:53] let's see how it compares to saucy
