[02:55] Or any way to tweak the trackpad settings? [06:31] hi! how private send message - how private chat? [13:11] hello anyone here? [13:16] !ask [13:16] Please don't ask to ask a question, simply ask the question (all on ONE line and in the channel, so that others can read and follow it easily). If anyone knows the answer they will most likely reply. :-) See also !patience [13:46] i have a laptop asus x51rl with integrated ati radeon xpress 1100 [13:46] i can find a driver for this.. coz it's move very slowly [13:46] humm installation seem to have got stuck at configuring APT sources [13:47] it hasn't moved for ages [13:48] it that normal, it doesn't sound normal [13:54] damn it install failed, now re-installing on unclean drive, it sould be ok, i think [13:55] floo: you need to use the open source drivers [13:55] floo: which version of xubuntu are you using? [13:58] hi all [13:59] humm whats an unlean partition? [14:00] Diavlo: An unclean filesystem is a filesystem with error to be fixed. [14:00] bekks: humm, installing on un unclean filesystem, i hope this works [14:01] It wont. [14:01] You will lose all data on that filesystem since it will be reformatted. [14:02] its configuring apt atm, it should install [14:04] * SuperEngineer recommends a quick dose of "sort it before install next time" ;) [14:12] where can i find an iso xubuntu's iso image in spanish? [14:13] xubuntu295: There arent localized iso images. Just install localization support after installing ubuntu. [14:14] thanks [14:15] And do you recommend it for a Pentium M (Centrino) 1'6Ghz and 512Mb of Ram? [15:04] it worked, you were wrong, unclean partition but it still works like a charm [15:07] what drivers do i need for broadcom bcm4311 wlan to work on xubuntu [15:10] anyone? [15:11] !wifi | Diavlo [15:11] Diavlo: Wireless documentation, including how-to guides and troubleshooting information, can be found at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs [15:15] supposed to work out of the box it says "firmware required" [15:16] how do i make it work? [15:16] hello [15:19] Diavlo: Thats described in the links given. [15:20] ok, how do i install .tat.gz flies? [15:24] Diavlo: normally you do not "install" .tar.gz files, what exactly do you want to do? [15:28] nevermind i had to make it [15:42] somebody help me, i can't get this wireless to work [15:43] module does not load up after make [15:45] https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/bcm43xx#b43%20-%20Internet%20access [15:46] hey everyone [15:48] I have a problem: I use a dual monitor setup. After rebooting the machine, in the desktop settings the window shows settings only for one monitor, even though in the Display options, there are still two monitors set. The window also looks quite different as before (there are no suggestions of wallpapers) and it won't allow me to set a desktop background [15:48] it's just really confusing === azeam_afk is now known as azeam [19:32] I have installed xubuntu v-13.10 beta 2 in a VMware Player (latest one) but I can't access the host hd. I get the error [vmhgfs.ko] Error 2 when I run vmware-instal -l. Has anyone elseencoutered this problem [19:33] I should mentin that v-13.04 works in all respects in the same VM. [19:34] If help is available I'd appreciate a note to s.molnar@sbcglobal.net. Thanks. [19:46] quit [19:54] my rightclick is broken on my thinkpad. is it possible to emulate right click using something like a ctrl click or something else? [19:57] is it a touch pad? [19:57] My netbook seems to have right click when you tap the lower right corner of the touchpad. [19:57] it's not a touchpad [19:57] it's the track point thing [19:57] oh. [19:57] Hmm.... [19:57] the touchpad works but i have it manually disabled [19:58] Might have to consider using it instead, if it can give you back right-click functionality. [19:58] .. [19:58] damnit [19:58] Otherwise, external mouse time [19:58] i have that, but when i'm unplugged.. [19:58] how does mac people activate ctrl click? [19:59] ugh. i don't want to spend another like $40 for a new keyboard [19:59] um, osx has a feature where you click and hold, to get right-click. [19:59] Although, if you put a 3 button non-apple mouse, right-click works like normal [20:00] yeah.. [20:00] i wish the rightclick keyboard key would rightclick where i'm point [20:01] not where is focused. [20:01] actually, does it have a context menu key? [20:01] next to the win key? [20:02] between Alt and Control on the right side [20:02] yea [20:02] you can use that. [20:03] it doesn't show the context menu of where i am hovering [20:03] when you highlight something, you can press that button to get the right click menu [20:03] only focused [20:03] on a web page, you can highlight hyperlinks and press the button for that context menu [20:04] the only flaw is sys tray icons and other odd stuff [20:04] exactly [20:04] and that's where i rightclick most often [20:04] hey, doesn't your trackpoint support clicking by tapping? [20:05] actually firefox doesn't work [20:05] i guess. but i don't use it [20:05] ever [20:05] you will now [20:05] i have two thinkpads lol. trying to keep a common interface :P [20:05] then you can reverse the mouse buttons [20:05] I think if you have keyboard navigation enabled, it used shift-F10 for rightclick [20:05] Oh, forgot about kb navi. [20:05] hm that works [20:06] wait [20:06] that's the same as context menu for me [20:06] context key* [20:06] yeah, but by reversing the buttons, you can now right click anything again [20:06] yeah. [20:06] that will be confusing as i switch between my thinkpads :x [20:07] lol... left "right-click" :) [20:07] ugh. i should crack open this keyboard and see what's wrong with it [20:07] the button could be worn [20:07] it happeneds [20:07] Probably should just get some cheap USB mouse [20:07] *happens [20:07] i have a bt mouse [20:07] got a bt dongle? [20:07] * genii slides bazhang a beverage [20:07] use that [20:08] i have bluetooth lol [20:08] also 13.10's bt support has regressed o.O [20:08] reconnecting after suspend is manual.. [20:08] ah... hmmm. [20:08] Well, you got some good suggestions. You'll adapt. [20:09] Heck between my netbook and desktop, I don't have a common interface. [20:09] You just grow to use what's proper when it's demanded of you [20:09] i have a pretty consistent interface [20:10] though, the two thinkpad has slightly different keyboard layous [20:10] also i wont switch to something like dvorak [20:10] The only thing consistant for me is the DE and the layout. Beyond that, the machine dictates that. [20:10] lol [20:10] i'm already considering setting up my laptops with an ansible playbook [20:10] a wut? [20:11] it's like puppet or chef but easier [20:11] lol, still lost [20:11] it's a way to manage your configurations [20:11] it's usually used for servers, but i can use it for laptops too. lol [20:11] Oh... That would be why. [20:11] I don't have a linux server setup. [20:12] Or any server setup. :) [20:13] lol
