cgoldbergballoons, does ubuntu-ui-toolkit  or SDK Team have an irc channel?  my sphinx documentation branch is failing CI.  I want to make sure I didn't break anything in the qdoc build... so looking for someone to chat with16:38
balloonsyou can talk in #ubuntu-touch16:39

cgoldbergballoons, k thanks16:39

balloonsom26er, this week, not so much16:44
balloonsI'm full on with autopilot tests, mir, and sdk16:45
om26erbusy balloons is busy16:45

om26era more easier way to verify is specified in my first comment. Make sure you are connected to wifi so that 'more suggestions' appears16:46
om26erballoons, ok, its not urgent. If you get around to flash the device later in the day, that's fine16:47
balloonsom26er, certainly. I need to update my device today so I'll confirm when I do16:47

DanChapmanballoons: pong! sorry for the slow response :-)17:30
balloonsDanChapman, no worries mate!17:32
balloonsalways lots going on this last weeks. So I wanted to see how we were doing in regards to ubiquity is all.. And yourself, hanging in there?17:32
DanChapmanballoons: The tests themselves are coming along nice. Just adding the finishing touches to the custom install. Ended up taking a different approach, it now selects a random partition config from a selection set out in a config file. Rather than seperate tests for different configurations  :-) still waiting to see them running on jenkins though17:38
DanChapmanhows your week going?17:39
balloonsDanChapman, not too bad at all. Today is much saner than the first couple of days. We're not quite 1 week to release17:42

balloonsso rssreader is the last app to get squared away.. how are we looking? :-)18:55
balloonsgood morning Noskcaj18:55
Noskcajhey balloons18:56
letozafballoons, got to fix an error, hope quickly :p18:58
balloonsletozaf, let me know.. just finished up music app I think, so I can dive in.. I'll probably grab your branch now ;-)19:02
letozafballoons, wait let me push the last changes19:02
thomimorning19:09
letozafballoons, if I stop bumping into errors I will push it shortly :P19:11
balloonshehe19:13
letozafballoons, I have an error that maybe needs your help19:15
letozafballoons, TypeError: 'tuple' object is not callable19:16
balloonsletozaf, yes, is everything pushed?19:16
letozafballoons, yes19:16
balloonsme syncs19:16
letozafhttps://code.launchpad.net/~carla-sella/ubuntu-rssreader-app/edit-topic-test19:16
letozafballoons, it happens in a "strange" place19:16
letozafballoons, that is the remove feed part, that part has been called before and did not have problems19:17
letozafballoons, it returns an error in the new test19:17
balloonsubuntu_rssreader_app.tests.test_rssreader.TestMainWindow.test_edit_topic?19:17
balloonsok got the error19:18
* balloons looks @ code19:18
balloonsletozaf, essentially what that error is telling you is you can't use eventually on a non-function19:20
balloons    self.assertThat(feedlistpage.visible, Eventually(Equals(True)))19:20
balloonsTypeError: 'tuple' object is not callable19:20
balloonsfeedlist.visible will never change, so eventually doesn't make sense19:20
letozafballoons, yes but if you run the ubuntu_rssreader_app.tests.test_rssreader.TestMainWindow.test_view_feeds19:20
balloonsletozaf, does it have the same thing, lol?19:20
letozafballoons, test the same routine is called and no error19:20
letozafballoons, I'm a bit "confused" :D19:21
balloonsletozaf, well let's fix it to be correct regardless19:22
balloonsit should fail.. it doesn't make sense19:22
balloonslikely what is happening is it is true right away, so it's not triggering perhaps19:22
letozafballoons, yes19:22
balloonsletozaf, feedlistpage = lambda: self.main_view.get_feed_management_page().visible19:23
balloons        self.assertThat(feedlistpage, Eventually(Equals(True)))19:23
cgoldbergletozaf, got a link to the stacktrace?  sounds like you are passing a tuple where it is expecting a callable (funtion name) essentially)19:23
balloonsletozaf, I see more like this..19:24
* balloons edits19:24
letozafcgoldberg, if you want the code is here https://code.launchpad.net/~carla-sella/ubuntu-rssreader-app/edit-topic-test19:25
balloonsletozaf, OHH19:25
letozafcgoldberg, thanks19:25
letozafballoons, what ?19:25
cgoldbergletozaf, can you paste me the error you are getting so I dont have to run it? :)  i just wanna look over the code quick and see if I can identify something19:26
cgoldbergfull stracktrace19:26
balloonsignore my idea is all letozaf :-)19:26
letozafcgoldberg, is this enough ? http://paste.ubuntu.com/6215135/19:27
cgoldbergshould do19:27
balloonsletozaf, because it's running through select_single_retry19:28
letozafballoons, ooh!!19:28
balloonsI was thinking perhaps it was sending an error or something19:29
balloonsbut that doesn't look correct at all19:29
knomecan somebody confirm if bug 1237594 is affecting konsole?19:29
ubot5bug 1237594 in xfce4-terminal (Ubuntu) "The U+0001 control character is output in terminal" [Undecided,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/123759419:29
balloonsso as i said, ignore me ;-)19:29
knome(hai)19:29
letozafballoons, lol19:29
balloonsknome, cool bug19:30
balloonsI like the colors!19:30
* knome facepalms19:30
balloonsit affects gnome and xfce terms that I can tes19:30
knomei know, i marked those as affected ;)=19:31
knomeprobably related to libvte19:31
balloonsxterm works fine19:31
knomeyep, that's noted too in the bug report ;)19:31
knomeand that's not using libvte19:32
balloonsI would agree with your synopsis19:32
balloonsletozaf, so for some reason you are getting back something weird.. the asserts and everything all makes sense now19:33
letozafballoons, yes I'm stuck19:34
balloonsa tuple is an immutable list more or less.. cgoldberg  and/or thomi are more up on python than me19:34
letozafballoons, do not know how to solve it19:34
thomiyo19:34
letozafballoons, yes I read about that19:34
balloonswhy you are getting something like that is odd, but I'll still call out the _retry function :-)19:34
knomebbl19:34
balloonshey thomi :-)19:35
* thomi hears his name19:35
thomisup?19:35
cgoldbergletozaf, i'm looking.. somewhere you are passing a tuple when it's excpecting aq callable object19:35
balloonsthomi, a select_single is returning a tuple19:35
thomiumwut?19:35
thomigot a code example? that's odd19:35
letozafcgoldberg, thanks for your help19:35
balloonsthomi, however, it's passing through a select_single_retry function, so I'm blaming that19:35
cgoldbergletozaf, it would also be nice to find an idiomatic way to remove those lambda's if possible... me hates lambdas.. and they are sorta sprinkled intermittently in that code19:36
letozafthomi, https://code.launchpad.net/~carla-sella/ubuntu-rssreader-app/edit-topic-test19:36
cgoldbergmorning thomi19:36
balloonscgoldberg, it used to be much worse :-)19:36
thomihi cgoldberg19:36
thomiletozaf: what file/line?19:36
letozafthomi, the test_edit_topic19:36
balloonsline 11719:37
cgoldbergthomi http://paste.ubuntu.com/6215135/19:37
letozafthomi, if you run it19:37
balloonsline 1116 is an attempt to get the object19:37
letozafthomi, you get the error19:37
letozafcgoldberg, I also do not fancy lambda's :p19:37
* thomi looks19:38
balloonsthe poor rssreader testcase is abused.. it's quite beat19:38
cgoldbergbrb19:38
balloonsI've been on both sides of it19:38
letozafthomi, the strange fact is that if you run the test_view_feeds  test it works no error19:38
thomifound the problem19:39
thomiline 392 in that file:19:40
thomiself.assertThat=(topicValueselectorValue.text, Eventually(Equals("news")))19:40
thomiyou're assigning a tuple to the 'assertThat' method - I guess a typo that happened to be valid python :)19:40
balloonsohh nice!19:40
thomiand line 420, same thing19:41
thomicopy paste error I guess19:41
letozafthomi, :(19:41
thomi:)19:41
balloonsthomi, excellent work :-)19:42
thomiwhy thank you sir. Time for my second coffee I think19:42
balloonslittle errors like that are so hard to spot.. we knew select_single wasn't giving a tuple, haha19:42
letozafthomi, thank you19:42
thomino worries19:42
balloonstests pass as-is with that fix19:42
balloonsbut I'm guessing you've more cleanup to do?19:42
letozafballoons, I'm quite new to python, but how do I check that tuple value now ?19:45
letozafballoons, cannot use asserthat19:45
balloonsletozaf, no, the issue was you were assigning assertthat to a value19:45
balloonsit's really weird.. the end result is just remove the accidental equals sign19:46
balloonseverything works19:46
letozafballoons, ah ok, let me try19:46
balloonsyou can drop the sleep also if you add a retry to the get_feedlist_feed19:47
balloonsthen just an clean up work you need to do.. and merge proposal time..19:48
letozafballoons, argh! forgot that sleep there :(19:50
balloonsno worries.. glad it's working.. push it up and let's see what the mp looks like ;-19:51
letozafballoons, ooooh!!! that equals sign !!!! didn't see it lol19:52
* letozaf slaps her head19:52
balloonsit's the little things that get you19:52

sergiusensballoons, did you have time to look at filemanager tests for click?20:52
balloonssergiusens, sure20:52
balloonsI need 5 mins20:52
sergiusensballoons, oh, well the code init needs refactoring I think, but the test setup is a little big; doing the same with the music app myself20:52
balloonsletozaf, maybe thomi has some insight here again20:53
thomihmmm?20:53
balloonssergiusens, we just landed quite a bit of changes to music app, fair warning20:53
balloonssergiusens, what refactoring specifically? for click? for ro?20:53
balloonsthomi, http://91.189.93.70:8080/job/generic-mediumtests/861/testReport/ubuntu_rssreader_app.tests.test_rssreader/TestMainWindow/test_edit_topic_with_mouse_/?20:53
balloonsthomi, it's a StateNotFoundError20:54
balloonstrying to land the code you were looking at earlier; https://code.launchpad.net/~carla-sella/ubuntu-rssreader-app/edit-topic-test/+merge/19023420:54
sergiusensballoons, for click; when was this landed?20:55
sergiusensballoons, the music app has a home stub, but when launching the app with upstart, that's a bit messy20:56
balloonssergiusens, music app? sorry I should be specific, we merged code to trunk within the last 3 hours20:56
thomiballoons: it'd be good to see the test log as well20:56
thomiballoons: can you change it to run with -v?20:56
balloonsthomi, they should all be running like that..20:57
balloonsfginther, can we ensure we are running autopilot with -v in the core apps vm's if we're not for some reason? ;-)20:58
balloonsthomi, since it doesn't happen here, I can't give anything more20:58
balloonsI like running with -vv actually.. I like logs :-)20:58
fgintherballoons, ack20:59
thomiyeah, you need the logs before you can tell anything really20:59
balloonsfginther, specifically we're looking at rssreader app atm20:59
balloonsty!20:59
fgintherballoons, done20:59
balloonsthomi, I'll get a log in a few :-)21:00
sergiusensballoons, so just to be aware, you know about the swipe to delete missing emulator?21:01
sergiusensballoons, and I can't seem to fix these either: http://reports.qa.ubuntu.com/smokeng/saucy/touch_ro/maguro/89:20131009.1:20131009.1/4640/ubuntu-rssreader-app-autopilot/470106/21:01
balloonssergiusens, we're trying to fix rssreader right now actuall21:02
balloonssergiusens, swipe to delete? you mean the trash can change?21:02
phillwballoons: when you get a spare couple of minutes can you give me a ping for a quick PM. Thanks.21:04
sergiusensballoons, first I've heard of trash can change :-)21:04
sergiusensballoons, I mean this http://reports.qa.ubuntu.com/smokeng/saucy/touch_ro/maguro/89:20131009.1:20131009.1/4640/ubuntu-calculator-app-autopilot/469697/21:04
balloonssergiusens, there was a swipe to delete change that would force you to tap a trash can icon after swiping21:04
slickymastergood night all21:04
balloonssergiusens, I'm not sure of the status atm on it.. don't have the bug handy21:05
sergiusensballoons, yeah, that; didn't think it would be referred to as the 'trash can change' :-)21:05
balloonssergiusens, hahahahah21:05
balloonssergiusens, I'm a slow typist my friend.. short and simple21:05
sergiusensballoons, no problem, bfiller told me that the sdk wouldn't do it by default but the feature hadn't landed yet21:05
sergiusensbut it would be nice to have an emulator21:06
balloonssergiusens, right.. the not by default action made me go "whew"21:06
letozafballoons, need me to wait or can I go to sleep ?21:07
balloonsletozaf, no reason to wait. arrivederci21:08
letozafballoons, buona notte! hope you fix rssreader :D21:09
balloonsI'm sure sergiusens will make it work or remove it :-)21:09
sergiusensballoons, heh :-)21:12
sergiusensballoons, so back to music, is the refactor making it work with click as well?21:12
balloonsfginther, ty, looks better now :-). thomi have a look: http://91.189.93.70:8080/job/generic-mediumtests/862/testReport/ubuntu_rssreader_app.tests.test_rssreader/TestMainWindow/test_edit_topic_with_mouse_/?21:12
balloonssergiusens, the primary purpose was keeping the tests inline with the huge UI changes that were landing21:13
balloonssergiusens, the rssreader was the last one on my list of stuff to fix before diving more into MIR. Are you finding issues with them running as click?21:14
sergiusensballoons, yes; but just the tests; everything runs until it gets an exception (qml) that you can see in the upstart log for the click app21:15
balloonssergiusens, and this is across the board with all the core apps/21:19
balloons?21:19
sergiusensballoons, no, only reader21:19
balloonssergiusens, ahh.. so it's probably just the tests not running successfully due to UI changes atm21:20
balloonsso this merge should fix that issue21:20
sergiusensballoons, the error is in the dashboard21:20
sergiusensballoons, great21:20
balloonssergiusens, ahh you are basically looking at these eh? http://reports.qa.ubuntu.com/smokeng/saucy/touch_ro/maguro/89:20131009.1:20131009.1/4640/21:21
sergiusensyup21:22
sergiusensdarn, music app merged incorrectly, missing files in trunk :-/21:22
balloonsyes, so rssreader is the only one on that list I consider having a true issue. The others are a bit perplexing.. random failures21:24
balloonsstill an issue, as any failure is a potential sign tests aren't robust21:24
sergiusensballoons, not sure about dropping letters, feels the device just failed and calculator just needs that swipte to delete fix from the sdk21:28
balloonssergiusens, yes, dropping letters ran fine on the other device, and I've never seen a failure from it21:29
balloonssergiusens, ohh, if calc didn't apply the fix.. hmm, you know I'm not sure it did. Clock, weather and rss did I remember, but I don't remember for calc21:30
sergiusensballoons, I fixed calc and clock this morning with the devs21:31
sergiusensballoons, also, https://code.launchpad.net/~andrew-hayzen/music-app/toolbar-rewrite-1/+merge/18891721:31
sergiusensballoons, I see you happroved21:31
sergiusensballoons, there's no reasoning for the removal of manifest.json in there21:32
balloonsI top approved that yes, it had been sitting out there forever waiting on an sdk fix21:33
sergiusensballoons, so autolanding woes?21:33
balloonsthere is no reason for the removal21:33
sergiusensballoons, let me re add it21:34
balloonsgo for it, I'll approve and get it put back21:34
balloonsandrew probably did that inadvertently during one of his rebases21:34
sergiusensballoons, seems so; I'm being slow at finding it though21:40
sergiusensballoons, the file only gets removed after the merge though; might be looking at it wrong21:43
