Is there a way I can get the private IP address of my machine? I know unit-get private-address returns the hostname, but I specifically need the IP. === thumper-afk is now known as thumper [07:44] kenn: In my environments, private-address is an IP address. If you are in Python, socket.gethostbyname(hostname) should convert either to the IP. Hopefully you don't end up with the loopback address or something useless like that. [07:46] Can someone give me the minimal steps to firing up a Swift server? My simple one failed with Bug #1238660, but I'm hoping it was my fail rather than the charm. [07:46] <_mup_> Bug #1238660: Default installation fails [07:50] Must verify that any software installed or utilized is verified as coming from the intended source. Any software installed from the Ubuntu archive satisfies this due to the apt sources including cryptographic signing information. [07:51] and Must call Juju API tools (relation-*, unit-*, config-*, etc) without a hard coded path. Should default to use software that is included in the Ubuntu archive, however we encourage that charm authors have a config options for allowing users to deploy from newer upstream releases, or even right from VCS if it's useful to users. [07:51] so, if deploying from VCS, e.g. github....... [07:51] I was just going to see how everyone else was doing it [07:52] and write packages later [08:20] routelastresort: If you are writing your charm in Python, charm-helpers has some support for deploying from VCS. I think only bzr at the moment, but would be easy to add git support too. Most people seem to be using packages wherever possible. === freeflying is now known as freeflying_away === freeflying_away is now known as freeflying [09:00] stub: thanks I wrote some quick bash to run it through dig if it wasn't already and IP. I only get a hostname on AWS, not locally === freeflying is now known as freeflying_away === freeflying_away is now known as freeflying [13:42] marcoceppi: question if you've got a sec. Working on this api endpoint I know deployer files can be json/yaml but do they allow any fancy yaml bits? [13:42] marcoceppi: I want to know if I can ask you to send me json every time or if that'll never fly, you need the option for both to validate properly? [15:39] stub: ping [15:51] rick_h_: I'd rather send the original format, can send with content type, but translation from yaml -> json might not translate 100% [15:51] marcoceppi: yea, sorry. The more I thought about that the more I went "bad plan" [16:13] rick_h_ : ping [16:13] Anju: pong [16:14] rick_h_: can we find the usage of block storage and object storage by juju [16:14] Anju: hmm, outside my wheel house. Assume you mean in openstack/swift or something? [16:15] openstack [16:15] marcoceppi: any hints on where to point Anju at? [16:15] rick_h_: thanks [16:16] Anju: yea, not sure what reporting tools are available in openstack for monitoring stuff like the disk usage [16:17] rick_h_: i just want to know about ceph [16:17] I want to use that in opensatck [16:17] Anju: using the ceph charm then? [16:17] rick_h_: means [16:18] rick_h_: please help [16:19] Anju: means? [16:19] Anju: rick_h_: not able to go in to it ATM, you can ask on askubuntu.com [16:19] marcoceppi: cool thanks [16:20] Anju: so yea, in checking out a quick search of the ceph docs http://ceph.com/docs/master/rados/operations/monitoring/#checking-a-cluster-s-status looks like it'd give you some basic usage info [16:20] Anju: so you could juju ssh to your ceph service and maybe that will get you started. [16:20] rick_h_: yes rick_h_ [16:20] i followed this one [16:20] a command ceph -s [16:20] Anju: if you've got more details then marcoceppi makes a great point that it would be a great askubuntu.com question and easier to provide details on what you're running and what you want to get out of it. [16:21] rick_h_: some questions I want to know [16:22] sorry if I am stealing your time [16:22] Anju: not at all, the issue is just I'm not a ceph expert. I'm honestly not going to have the answer for you right now. The best thing to do is to hit up askubuntu.com and write them out. Then others can see/respond better. [16:23] okk rick_h_ [16:23] thanks [16:24] np, once you write them out make sure to tag them juju and ceph. [16:25] rick_h_: thanks [17:12] does open-port take ranges yet? [17:46] marcoceppi: got a sec? === thomi_ is now known as thomi [19:28] I have a quick question about juju on aws: Is there a way to setup a raid 10 ebs using juju, or do I have to set that up manually? I am thinking about deploying the mongodb charm. [21:06] has anyone gotten a HOOK Host key verification failed. error on charms with brand new hosts? [22:58] Anyone - I discovered bug 1276734 was actually not fixed in 1.16.0 as it said it was. I noted this in the bug tracker, but no one has responded. What can I do about this? [23:02] kurt_: go to #juju-dev, complain loudly === CyberJacob is now known as CyberJacob|Away [23:03] davecheney: ok, thanks [23:14] davecheney: were you guys already talking about it?
