vadiHi. I've added the Gnome 3 ppa (needed to get treeview in nautilus back), and since then Evince has crashed a couple of times on me. Launchpad has rejected both of my reports due to an outdated package: outdated debug symbol package for liblcms2-2: package version 2.5-0ubuntu1~raring1 dbgsym version 2.4-0ubuntu3.101:43
vadiHowever my system is fully updated and no updates are available. What can I do?01:43
RAOFvadi: Remove the GNOME 3 PPA and see if Evince still crashes; your system is currently in an unsupportable state because you've got (at least) a version of liblcms2-2 that's not in the archive.01:56
vadiJust remove the PPA and do nothing else? Or uninstall all of the new things? All I'd like is Nautilus with a treeview, because I've used the non-treeview version available in 13.04 for a good month and it unworkable.01:58
RAOFvadi: As long as you've got your current version of liblcms2-2 installed (and possibly other things), Launchpad isn't going to be able to retrace any of your crashes (that have liblcms2-2 in their process space).02:01
vadiSo what does this mean of the GNOME 3 PPA? It is unstable and unsupported, or? The description does not mention such things, and it encourages reporting issues (which is what I've attempted to do).02:03
RAOFvadi: It appears to mean that you can't get Launchpad to provide symbolic backtraces if you've got the GNOME 3 PPA enabled.02:05
vadiAlright. But it also marks my reports as invalid. Should I unset that and mark them as new?02:05
RAOFYeah, that'd be about right.02:06
vadiAlright. Thanks for your answers!02:06
darkxstRAOF, vadi, we have ddebs on the GNOME3 PPA02:13
darkxstbut you have to add a "main/debug" to apt02:13
RAOFdarkxst: Sounds like you need to get the apport retracers to add that, then?02:14
darkxstRAOF, we have our own retracer02:18
RAOFdarkxst: So then vadi has some other PPA installed?02:19
darkxstvadi, do you have a link to the bug?02:21
darkxstRAOF, the retracer did get the stuck the other day for a few days, so a bunch a reports ended getting invalidated due to outdated packages02:31
RAOFdarkxst: Ah, fair 'nuff.02:31
darkxstand its not uncommon to have traces that can't be retraced (due to invalid core dumps, I presume)02:32
vadiI did install the Gnome 3 ppa, not another02:34
vadidarkxst: link to the bug apport closed? yes, moment02:34
vadidarkxst: it is still private: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-gnome/+bug/123988302:34
ubot2vadi: Error: launchpad bug 1239883 not found02:34
darkxstvadi, that one failed due to libreoffice PPA not having debug symbols02:37
vadiI do have libreoffice PPA... had to add it, because LibreOffice kept crashing on .docx documents (Ubuntu 13.04's 4.0 version). It's affecting Evince backtracing?02:38
darkxstand/or an invalid core dump02:39
vadiThat doesn't really leave me with a solution, and both of my Evince crashes have been rejected by LP. I'm not certain if making them public manually is save (whenever any information that should have been scrubbed was scrubbed).02:46
darkxstvadi, you can make them public, just make sure the core dump is deleted and there is nothing revealing in the stacktraces02:49
darkxstvadi, you can also try and get stacktraces locally and then attach them https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash02:50
vadiI'll try the latter.03:45
vadiIt doesn't seem to work for me: http://pastebin.com/DKxVjjYH03:53
vadiI'll try the first method. What file is the core dump? There isn't one with an obvious name.03:55
pittiGood morning04:22
darkxstvadi, you need to enable the deb-src lines for the PPA06:43
darkxstand add main/debug to both lines06:43

didrocksdo you have any idea? (sorry for bothering you with non QA stuff)11:54
pittididrocks: hm, it could just be a broken .po file (step: check the .po file in desktop whether it displays properly)11:57
pittididrocks: or a broken fontconfig which assigns the wrong font to these glyphs (I know almost nothing about that, though)11:57

didrocksok, not ttf-wqy-zenhei either12:03
didrocksfonts-arphic-ukai is the one we need :)12:04
pittididrocks: no, missing langpack would just mean that the strings were in English12:04

Laneyattente is the one working on the language panel mainly12:15
didrocksLaney: quite a large review, we aren't supposed to fix/review upstream's ;)12:18
didrocksLaney: just give us an ETA, I think this one will be on the bugs we track12:19
LaneyI don't have an ETA, I'm not tracking or working on all of the bugs personally12:19
LaneyAsk attente if he plans to do it otherwise I will see, but I don't know that panel at all12:19
jibeldidrocks, with the font I can see chinese characters on the language list but cannot select the language, it always returns to english12:20
didrocksjibel: it return to suisse french for me12:21
didrocksLaney: I think I'll have to ask seb128 tomorrow then12:21
LaneyNot trying to dodge it, but I'm just saying I can't give you an ETA on the fix since I don't know what it is12:21
didrocksno worry12:22
LaneyI think returning to the previous language is the first one I listed12:22
didrocksyeah, they seem mixed, but they aren't12:22

leniosto*12:24
didrockslenios: we are talking about phone, that's what we just tested12:25
leniosi know12:25
leniosbut according to package description and what i have on my desktop, i think ttf-wqy-microhei should be enough for phone12:26
leniosif it's not working correctly, that's probably misconfiguration and not a missing font12:26
didrockslenios: possibly, it was the first one I tried without any success. Any debugging/help appreciated :)12:27
jibeldidrocks, there is definitely something wrong, 'search' on the top left is in chinese, categories of the scopes and u-s-s are in french and the rest in english12:34
Laneyattente's branch makes things nicer for me on my desktop12:36
Laneyit sets german to de_DE instead of de_LI(?)12:37

Laneylet me try building it for armhf and see what happens12:41

LaneyWhat DE are you using?15:59
bschaeferunity16:00
LaneyThere's one I was looking at earlier ...16:00
Laneydo you have gnome-screensaver installed?16:00
bschaeferi do not, i was testing out a new light-locker package16:00
Laneyok16:01
bschaeferthat would explain that problem :)16:01
Laneyplease try g-s-d from ppa:laney/experimental16:01
bschaefercool, let me try it out16:01
Laneyit's supposed to remove that dependency16:01

jasoncwarner_hey didrocks , around?16:26
alan_gcyphermox or stgraber - yesterday seb128 referred me to you about a problem I have on my desktop PC. (http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/6241293/) Short version: I got my system in a state where I had to switch IP6 to Local to get dhcp working. can you help?16:43
didrocksjasoncwarner_: was in a HO, here16:54
jasoncwarner_hey didrocks :) hey, I'm trying to update and I'm getting a 'image failed to download' or something close to that. I'm getting it always today and I've always seen it hit 100% downloaded. Know anything about that? Also, probably would be a good thing to change the 'install and restart' button to something else in that case. Maybe 'try again' and/or 'cancel'?16:55
jasoncwarner_didrocks: also, wasn't sure of the reason for getting that. I asked a few others and they said they've never seen it. I guess I'm one of the lucky few ;)16:56
didrocksjasoncwarner_: did you update everyday?16:56
didrocksor did you wait for a few days?16:56
jasoncwarner_I have been. this is image 9616:56
jasoncwarner_I think I was on 92 maybe? or 94?16:56
didrocksjasoncwarner_: if the image is too big, the service can't download a new image16:57
jasoncwarner_the image is 96m, if I recall16:57
didrocksjasoncwarner_: barry has a fix for that, but if you are blocked, the only way for you now is to reflash16:57
didrocksjasoncwarner_: the daemon is still telling that installed is ready and can be apply, that's why the ui is showing those buttons instead of retry16:58
jasoncwarner_didrocks: gah, ok. do you happen to know the size limit (just for my own knowledge)16:58
didrocksI think barry fixed that one as well16:58
didrocksjasoncwarner_: it was downloading in memory, so whatever memory you still have free on the phone :)16:58
didrocks(now it will be on disk)16:58
jasoncwarner_ok, thanks didrocks. I guess I'm reflashing today then ;)16:59
didrocksjasoncwarner_: yeah, no other choise, sorry ;)16:59
didrockschoice*16:59
jasoncwarner_thanks, didrocks will flash in a few!17:00
didrocksyw!17:03

ubot2Launchpad bug 1232273 in ubuntu-system-settings (Ubuntu) "Updates will not complete if the system-image service times out" [High,Fix released]17:09
didrocksjasoncwarner_: it's a different one where barry had to track it17:10
didrocks(an older one)17:10
didrocksjasoncwarner_: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/system-image/+bug/123352117:13
ubot2Launchpad bug 1233521 in system-image (Ubuntu Saucy) "system-image cannot recover from a partial download without rebooting" [High,Triaged]17:13
jasoncwarner_thanks didrocks17:13
didrocksjasoncwarner_: and that one as well: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/system-image/+bug/123681817:13
ubot2Launchpad bug 1236818 in system-image (Ubuntu) "No update downloaded" [High,Triaged]17:13
didrocks(not fixed though)17:14
didrocksjasoncwarner_: basically barry disabled the persistence mode, which is what agreed between the ui and service17:14
didrockshence you can see this "redownload, restart, no pause…"17:14
* didrocks really needs to go now :)17:15
jasoncwarner_later didrocks !17:15
