Preytellis there a document or some info on the network engineering side of maas deployments. I need to see the requirements and best practice for deploying the physical layers. All the documents that I have read seem to be based on have one flat network for all connections, whereas I typically have at least three separate networks, front-end (public), back-end (private) and power (IPMI). Can you can point me in the right direction?15:52
roaksoaxPreytell: we don't have a proper document but it is possible. Though, maas does expect that IPMI network is different from the provisioniing network (which you can be consider what you describe as flat network)15:56
roaksoaxPreytell: as long as the MAAS server can reach the ipmi network of course15:56
Preytellyeah that's the fun part. So if you decide to go down the MAAS/JuJu/OpenStack path there are networking layers all over the place. I was just wondering if that was covered somewhere.15:59
roaksoaxPreytell: we've done it but we've not documented it16:01
roaksoaxbut really depends on your requirenments16:02
bigjoolswe're discussing how to document that16:02
PreytellI've been there..... I have tons of things that I have done but not had the time to write the docs...16:02
bigjoolswe're going to add some typical scenarios to the setup docs16:02
roaksoaxPreytell: but this documentation might be useful:16:03
roaksoaxhttp://astokes.org/automatically-configuring-vlans-maas/16:03
bigjoolscurrent docs assume spome knowledge of how to do networking16:03
PreytellI will check it out. I need to get a lab going. multiple efforts underway to discover which direction to take into the openstack world, and I like the maas/juju offer right now.16:04
Preytellthanks!16:04
