tencGood morning wrst, Unit193, twayneprice.14:04
wrsttenc: how are you doing?14:12
tencGreat wrst. How about yourself?14:17
wrstdoing well... so far :)14:18
tencI think I just powered down my remote VM. Doh. -_-14:21
tencHey Unit193: I noticed since upgrading to 13.10 that there's no longer a 'Sound' entry in Settings Manager; sound works fine but there were some nice controls in there to set per-app volume. Know anything about how I might restore it?14:24
wrsttenc: not for sure if this is related or not?  http://www.webupd8.org/2013/10/xubuntu-1310-sound-indicator-fix.html14:26
wrstoh no its not that's about the indicator14:26
tencYeah, thanks wrst I managed to fix the indicator yesterday.14:26
wrstas usual I'm no help... where is Unit193? he is the xfce expert especially xubuntu15:53
wrstafternoon chris458518:11
Unit193tenc: The one in  Multimedia > PulseAudio Volume Control ?18:29
tencHah, there it is... just moved. Thanks Unit193.18:30
wrstUnit193: you the master :)18:31
Unit193The never ending drumbeat!18:36
Unit193Anyway, padevchooser is back in too, I even helped. :P18:37
wrstgood Unit193 :)18:37
Unit193wrst: When's Arch switching to Gnome/Wayland?19:51
wrstarch doesn't really switch to such things... its just up to you to choose them19:52
Unit193Arch switched from sysv to systemd, it's not really up to you always.19:53
wrstno they do go to new technologies19:55
wrstand eventually you will have to go to wayland or hack something together19:55
wrstand I think sysv is still available probably in the aur19:55
wrstUnit193: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/sysvinit/19:56
Unit193Yeah, but with everything depending on sysd...19:56
Unit193wrst: oblogout in aur?19:56
wrsthttps://aur.archlinux.org/packages/oblogout-fork-git/19:57
wrst?19:57
wrstUnit193: yeah systemv is really outdated I think now, and if you use gnome systemd isn't required but it is designed to work with systemd19:57
Unit193wrst: Really?  Gnome seemed to be really attached to it, they made a good pair too. :P19:58
Unit193And yeah, but looks like a fork. ;)19:58
wrstUnit193:  I have no clue what it even is :)19:59
Unit193Heh, a fork never committed to. :P19:59
wrstUnit193: with ssd and systemd my boot times are pretty speedy, but I really don't care a lot about boot times as long as it isn't like booting winows 3.1 or something20:00
Unit193wrst: It's a handy little program to call shutdown/reboot/etc in openbox, by itself it doesn't really do it.20:00
wrstthat's a pain :)20:00
wrstshutdown -h now, come on Unit193 do it oldschool20:00
Unit193I updated it for my openbox build, found it on some Debian Maintainer's git repo, now it works for 13.10 and it's cludge systemd.  I normally use poweroff, but this doesn't require admin account, just policykit.20:01
wrstcludge systemd?20:01
wrstUnit193: does it still look like debian will go systemd?20:02
Unit193Well you know udev and logind (consolekit replacement) are systemd source packages?   And sadly, does appear to be going that way. :/20:02
wrstsadly?20:02
wrstonce again ubuntu goes alone20:02
Unit193Yes, I rather dislike systemd.20:02
wrstit starts services... I'm happy :)20:03
Unit193wrst: Maybe, but upstart was there before systemd so it's not like everyone else had it's own thing.20:03
Unit193Also, suse had it then dropped it I think, right?20:03
wrstRHEL had it20:03
Unit193Upstart?20:03
wrstyes I think20:03
Unit193Weiiird.20:03
wrstit was in fedora20:03
Unit193Anyway, if Debian really does go with systemd, I think the only sane thing for Ubuntu is to fall in line, no matter how annoying it is.20:04
wrstI don't think they will do that20:04
Unit193I'm pretty sure I'll be on xorg for a long time yet, so nothing new there.20:04
Unit193wrst: I could see a reason for them to, but yeah, not sure.20:05
Unit193But, if they made a upstart/systemd compatibility layer, it wouldn't be too insane as they could still sync everything, right?20:05
wrstI have no clue20:05
wrstha ha20:05
wrstjust like mir :)20:06
Unit193Erm, no.20:06
Unit193:P20:06
Unit193One that actually works please.20:06
wrstI think Ubuntu is going to do their own thing which is fine but I think they are heading the way of what OSX is to BSD20:06
wrstwhich again may be good in the end its certainly an interesting ride to watch20:08
Unit193wrst: https://www.google.com/search?q=oblogout&tbm=isch anyway, not bad.20:08
wrstUnit193: that looks nice20:09
Unit193Part of the reason my openbox build is large is because it has both webkit gtk2 and gtk3 because of ubiquity.  Ubiquity and casper pull in more than I'd like too.20:09
Unit193:P20:09
Unit193Anyway, that's seeded. :D20:09
