tsdgeoszsombi: any chance you guys can have a look at https://code.launchpad.net/~aacid/ubuntu-ui-toolkit/tabbar_external_use/+merge/192307 ?09:31
tsdgeosit'd be cool if we can get that in since it'd make much easier for me to reuse the tabbar for the Dash in the unity shell09:32
zsombitsdgeos: let's get t1mp for that, he's with the Tabs :)09:32
zsombit1mp: ^^09:33
t1mphmm09:34
t1mptsdgeos: why not directly use the 'normal" tabs?09:34
tsdgeost1mp: what is "the normal tabs"?09:34
tsdgeosMainView + Tabs ?09:34
t1mptsdgeos: yes09:34
t1mpah you want no toolbar?09:34
tsdgeosbecause doesn't fit at all our model09:35
tsdgeosand i don't want the magic page swapping either09:35
t1mptsdgeos: what do you need exactly that is different?09:35
t1mptsdgeos: what is magic page swapping?09:35
tsdgeosi just want a tabs that tells me which tab is the current09:35
t1mptsdgeos: you mean you don't want to use the tabbar to switch between tabs? only to display them?09:35
tsdgeost1mp: each Tab has a page component that Tabs + MainView put on their viewport when the tab changes09:35
tsdgeost1mp: exactly09:35
tsdgeosi have my own listview that will take care of the swapping09:36
tsdgeosi want a simple UI09:36
tsdgeosnot a billion of things09:36
tsdgeosbesides having something called MainView as layer 45 of our QML looks weird :D09:37
tsdgeoswe already have that inside the Indicators code09:37
tsdgeoswith something like "FIXME this is not the main view" :D09:37
t1mptsdgeos: ah you want your own TabsStyle, but that currently needs Tabs which is internal?09:37
tsdgeost1mp: kind of, i want a TabBar + TabBarStyle09:38
tsdgeoswhich uses Tabs for some stuff, it's not internal but adding Tabs adds stuff i don't want09:38
tsdgeost1mp: basically i want something like the example of TabsBase.qml describes09:39
tsdgeostabs with title and the signal to know it changed09:39
tsdgeoswhich afaics you can't get with the current code09:39
t1mptsdgeos: ok. I'll review your MR. But we can also consider adding properties to the tabbar to control that09:42
tsdgeost1mp: sure if you prefer me to do it in a different way, i can do it too, i just did this because it was basically a simple copy&paste of stuff around09:45
tsdgeost1mp: so feel free to say "no, do this", and i'll do it09:45

tsdgeoszsombi: as said make check fails somewhere else unrelated so probably doesn't get to that stage10:06

ogra_"devel" and "stable" are aliases that are supposed to be pointing to the last stable/devel versions all the time10:56

danielbeckHi. I uploaded a new version of RamSamSam Reader, because the last one did not work (I believe the problem was that the launch icon was missing). Could someone try to start it on its smartphone?14:12
danielbeckThat would be nice, since I don't have a Ubuntu Touch device.14:12
davmor2ogra_, sergiusens: so guys did we get to the bottom of the data disappearance?  also should apps of remained?14:13
ogra_davmor2, i'm pretty sure it is a stgraber thing ... the rw stuff gets re-initialized and ro bits get copied in place or so14:14
davmor2ogra_, sergiusens: and finally all the data is on the system but not being used if I add it again I'm going to run out of space is it best to just wipe it completely and start again from scratch?14:14

davmor2ogra_: oh ah, I only saw you comments on the size14:20
ogra_heh14:20
danielbeckThe n4 has a high resolution, so the result is very tiny.14:21
ogra_well, not for any other apps14:21

ogra_ah14:22
stgraberdavmor2: not sure I understand your problem. Can you try to explain it in more details?14:23
danielbeckUbuntu HTML5 scales very badly accross devices. The size of Ubuntu HTML5 should be set in em instead of pixels. I will make a bug report.14:23
ogra_stgraber, bug 1243577 and  bug 124357314:24
ubot5bug 1243577 in phablet-tools (Ubuntu) "All apps are gone after upgrade to trusty" [Undecided,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/124357714:24
ubot5bug 1243573 in Ubuntu system image "Timezone setting is gone after upgrade to Ubuntu Touch touchy" [Undecided,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/124357314:24
ogra_likely the same root cause14:24
ogra_stgraber, and there is also bug 1243612 (unrelated to the two above though)14:24
ubot5bug 1243612 in system-image (Ubuntu) "system-image-cli does not allow to switch from saucy-proposed to trusty-proposed" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/124361214:24
davmor2stgraber: I have a maguro, it was setup with music, contacts, apps etc I ran phablet-flash ubuntu-system --channel devel-proposed now I see the music through mtp but the phone doesn't and all the apps are gone and I have no contacts14:25
stgraberogra_: bug 1243612 seems wrong... you can do -b 0 -c trusty-proposed and that should work as expected, though that's more of a barry question14:27
ubot5bug 1243612 in system-image (Ubuntu) "system-image-cli does not allow to switch from saucy-proposed to trusty-proposed" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/124361214:27
ogra_stgraber, yeah14:27
ogra_stgraber, and not a critical one14:27
ogra_stgraber, the two others are though14:28
stgraberdavmor2: can you pastebin a "find /userdata" and "cat /proc/mounts"?14:28
ogra_i suspect it just re-initializes where it shouldnt14:28
stgraberI suspect they are actually a single bug, but I can't quite figure out what exactly since it worked fine here14:28
barrystgraber, ogra_ correct.  -c does not imply -b14:29
ogra_barry, well, if i select a new channel i would expect it to use the latest version from there14:29
davmor2stgraber: http://paste.ubuntu.com/6289321/14:30
barryogra_: it should still calculate an upgrade path from whatever your current build number is to the highest build number on that channel.  the problem is that if the channel's build number is lower than the device's, you won't have an upgrade path, so forcing the device's build number to 0 solves that14:31
ogra_barry, thats not very intuitive imho14:31
=== dandrader_ is now known as dandrader
ogra_me picking -c means i already did some override action14:31
barryogra_: you can always figure it out with --info and --dry-run14:31
stgraberogra_: so based on that paste, nothing got removed...14:32
ogra_stgraber, well, /opt is definitely empty14:32
ogra_at least it was in my case14:32
barryogra_: i can understand that, but this gives maximum flexibility, since if -c implied -b 0, you couldn't switch channels and take a normal upgrade path14:32
ogra_(i sadly have manually installed all the apps i use already, it was my dogfooding phone)14:32
stgraberhmm, yes, /opt/click.ubuntu.com appears to be empty, not sure what caused that though14:33
ogra_stgraber, and my timezone was set to UTC+014:33
ogra_whihc implies the TZ config was overwritten with the ro file14:33
stgraberthe upgrader is an all or nothing kind of thing, either it wipes your data (by formatting the partition) or it doesn't, if you still have a single file from your previous setup in /userdata, it's not something caused by system-image14:33
barryogra_: if you can suggest manpage improvements to make it clearer, happy to make that change14:34
ogra_stgraber, right, the upgrade ... i'm referring to first boto stuff :)14:34
ogra_*boot14:34
ogra_my suspicion is that parts have been re-initialized14:34
ogra_barry, we dont ship man14:34
ogra_barry, so adding some info the the help command would be needed14:35
barryogra_: or even --help14:35
davmor2stgraber: http://ubuntuone.com/5Sn2hA3by3Wf0Qek7S2QHP and http://ubuntuone.com/03FTUzUaeZG5dkEzgn4wL0 and http://ubuntuone.com/4whqzfYCnQu4xiEhdkFHDI  the cities were setup, there is music but it doesn't show, and the last is contact which was full14:35
stgraberogra_: we don't have any click-specific logic in the initrd or in boot-hooks that I know of so I don't see how only /opt/click.u.c would end up empty14:35
ogra_stgraber, right, that was rather the TZ issue i was referring to ...14:35
ogra_(though i still think they are secretly related somehow)14:36

stgraberogra_, davmor2: so I'll need to play with this and see if I can reproduce the issue on trusty here... it's not obvious exactly what happened15:53
stgraberI got a few other things to do first though15:53
davmor2stgraber: I'm wondering if it is caused by going from saucy to trusty, rather than a saucy to saucy build15:54
stgrabershouldn't be15:54
stgraberthere's no release to release upgrade hooks of any sort15:55
ogra_stgraber, well, looking at sergiusens answer on the  ML it might be phablet-flash15:55
stgraberthe only difference between a standard saucy to saucy update and saucy to trusty is that a full update is forced which means the system partition is reformatted, but nothing else is touched (as the find you pasted seems to prove)15:56
