OjzcrocI have a problem: When I try and install apps from the suggested apps section, they won't install. Does anyone else have this problem, or it's solution?08:11
ogra_Ojzcroc, can you describe "they wont install" a little more ? and also what device is this08:29
OjzcrocI use a nexus 4. When I click an app, and click install, it freezes, and then closes. I go looking in the installed apps section, and the app isn't there. I checked some log files, and I think that the packages may download, but they don't install, and I don't know where they go, or how to install them.08:37
ogra_hmm, this works fine here, are you connected and is your ubuntu one account set up ?08:41
ogra_for me it shows a progress bar after ~5sec after tapping "install"08:43
ogra_also which image are you on (look  in the system settings "about this device")08:46
Ninijagood morning, enyone may help me to install ubuntu touch on my nexus 7? I've an error "device not found" but my device is connected to pc...08:47
Ninijajwr66y08:48
ogra_hmm, somenoe should update his password08:49
Ojzcrocogra_: I'm using 13.10 r100; I'll check my ubuntu one08:50
ogra_Ojzcroc, well, with that image it definitely works, if your U1 is not set up it should ask you to go to the account setup though08:51
ogra_Ojzcroc, are you connected via WLAN ? it might indeed be very slow on 2G for example08:51
Ojzcrocogra_: wlan08:53
ogra_hmm, then i dont really se a reason why it should not work08:53
ogra_image 100 was pertty heavily tested since that was the saucy release image08:53
OjzcrocMaybe something's wrong with my ubuntu one08:54
OjzcrocI'll check08:54
Ojzcrocogra_: thanks, it worked.08:58

AskUbuntuHow do I upgrade my Ubuntu Touch Preview to Ubuntu Touch? | http://askubuntu.com/q/36617614:06
Elleojdstrand: hi, a chap in #ubuntu-app-devel suggested you might be the best person to ask about the correct way to get hold of a writable path for ubuntu touch apps? (it's getting passed along to libspotify which is closed source, so it has to be a path rather than an sqlite db or similar)14:17
nik90popey, mhall119: spotify app in development ^^ Needs helps with app confinement rules14:24

shawnsolhmm. trying in install ubuntu touch on nexus 7. flashed system, boot, and recovery to my device while it was in the bootloader.  I can't use adb because the device isn't' connected (it's in bootloader still). starting recovery mode from the device freezes :(15:03

VyomHello everyone18:56
YakushimaVyom, hi18:58
VyomI have been researching over installing Ubuntu touch on me new N7 for hours now.. and only now came to know that Grouper/Manta/Mako are codenames :P18:58
VyomThanks to that spreadsheet link in topic.18:58
VyomCould have helped, if they have simply named it like, N7, N4, N10 etc.... -_-18:59
VyomSo things in N7, are either Perfect or Broken... xD19:02
Vyomcan anyone recommend which to use for flashing on N7.. trusty or saucy?19:03
Vyom2<Vyom>can anyone recommend which to use for flashing on N7.. trusty or saucy?19:06

Vyom2Btw... I am dual booting19:22
Vyom2using MultiROM19:22
popeyVyom2: updated the spreadsheet, adding the codenames as per your suggestion19:22
popeyI can't help with that. I never test multiboot19:22
Vyom2yea.. I am experimenting.19:22

panandehi20:59
panandemy installation stopped at downloading "boot.img" at least thats what it seems like20:59
panandethe screen is there since an hour!21:00
fishscenedid it stop during the download?21:00
panandeI cant really tell...21:01
fishsceneBummer. Might have to start over again :S21:01
panandeSo the screen turned black sever times because I idled :/21:01
panande*several21:01
fishsceneI've had some issues flashing my Nexus 7 2012 yesterday. I had to manually run some commands because running those same commands in a script (as instructed on the install instructions) resulted in no-error, no status unexplained halts, similar to what you might be seeing.21:02
panandeok21:02
fishsceneWhat step are you on?: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Install21:03
panandeBut I also have to admit, that Im a complete Ubuntu noob :D So I dont really get what to do without a detailed instruction...21:03
panande phablet-flash ubuntu-system --channel devel --no-backup21:03
panandeso basically the last one21:04
fishsceneWhat device are you flashing?21:06
panandeA nexus 7 201221:06
panandewifi 32gb21:06
fishsceneI have the same, but 16GB. Yea, I had to start the whole process over from scratch.21:07
panandeok could you tell me what to do?21:07
panandeas I said I have no experience with ubuntu21:08
panandeor linux in common except from android21:08
fishsceneNot a problem.21:08
panandeOK so first I have to abort the old process... just close the terminal?21:10
fishsceneYes.21:11
fishsceneGo to the part on the website where it is titled "Restoring Android". If you run into trouble with "./flash-all.sh". Just open that file in a text editor and manually type those commands into a terminal. Let me know if you have any issues or need further explanation.21:11
panandeok21:11
panandecommand not found wtf?21:15
fishsceneWhich command?21:16
panandesudo ./flash-all.sh21:17
fishsceneDid you CD into the directory of the extracted zip?21:17
fishscenecd = change directory21:17
panandewell how? I have the factory image...21:18
fishsceneOh. I forgot to mention. "Factory Image for Nexus 7 (Wi-Fi)", Android 4.3 image doesn't work for me. I have to use 4.2.221:18
panandeok21:18
fishsceneOnce you download the image (it's a zip file), You need to extract the zip file and in the terminal, navigate to the extracted folder.21:19
panandeok21:19
panandeAlright Im downloading 4.2.2 factory image right now21:20
fishsceneSounds good.21:20
panandeahhh fuck Im an idiot :D I downloaded the FI on windows 8.1 instead of my ubuntu VM21:23
fishscenelol. No worries. I have some time to kill while I work on a script.21:24
panandeok :D and also thanks for helping me ^^21:25
panandek its ready21:26
panandeOK I extracted it to my Documents folder21:27
fishsceneFeel free to run through the steps and report back if there's an issue or you don't know how to proceed.21:28
panandeyou said something about changing the CD21:28
panandehow do I do that?21:30
fishscenecd is the command used in terminal to navigate into directories (folders)21:31
fishscenecd = "change directory"21:31
panandeok21:31
fishscene"cd ~/Documents" should get you into your documents folder. ~ = "your home folder".21:32
panandeok21:32
panandeOk Im in21:33
panandeaaaand it says device not found... great21:34
panandeIt worked before that -.-21:34
fishsceneStandby...21:34
panandeK it worked21:35
panandeno such file or directory21:36
fishsceneDid you "cd" into the extracted zip directory?21:36
panandeyep21:36
fishsceneand you typed "./flash-all.sh" ?21:37
panandeyes21:37
panandeso it says lorin@ubuntu:~/Documents$21:38
panandebut there is still the nakasi... folder21:38
fishscenecd into the nakasi folder.21:38
fishsceneWhile you're typing that horrid folder name, you can press tab to auto-complete.21:38
panandeI tried with cd ~/Documents/nakasi-jdq3921:39
panandewas that the wrong command?21:39
fishsceneerr… nvm. It's not as bad as the zip file itself :P21:39
fishsceneThat's perfect21:39
panandewhatever I just copied the files out of the folder and now it works ^^21:40
fishsceneYou can type "ls" (with a lower-case L) to see the contents of the folder to verify that "flash-all.sh" is present21:40
panandearchive does not contain 'boot.sig'21:40
fishsceneDid it continue anyway?21:41
panandenope it stopped21:41
fishsceneI'm going to flash my N7 to see if I get the same error.21:42
fishsceneI got the same error, but it continued anyway21:45
panandehmh21:46
fishsceneDid you cancel (ctrl-c)? or is it just paused at the "boot.sig" error?21:46
buraker|2Hi. Is it possible to install ubuntu touch onto phone under debian?21:47
panandeI just closed the terminal21:47
belkinsaHas anyone tired to put Ubuntu Touch on a HTC EVO LTE?  I tried to do from XDA forums but it's failing for me.  And I know that the developer stopped developing it.21:48
panandemy n7 just said Boot failed, so Im currently reinstalling the FI through the nexus root  toolkit21:48
fishscenepanande: Try again, but just let it sit for a while and see what happens.21:48
fishsceneYou can boot into recovery mode and flash Android on again.21:48
panandeok21:49
panandeI cant get into recovery...21:49
panandeI hope I didnt bricked it now,,,21:50
fishsceneLet's assume you didn't and see if we can get through this. Do you know how to boot into recovery mode?21:51
panandeI know but it wont let me21:51
panandeIt just says booting failed21:52
panandeI hope the NRT settles that for me21:52
fishsceneNRT=?21:52
panandenexus root toolkit21:53
fishsceneoh. Just found it.21:53
gignfrbonjour  a tous21:58
panandegreat22:04
panandenow my tablet isnt responding anymoire22:04
fishscenepanande: Nothing on the screen?22:05
panandephew now its booting again22:05
belkinsadoes anyone know where this folder sits: android-sdk-linux/platform-tools/ if it's a real one?22:07
fishsceneok. If it ever seems to completely die, you can disconnect the batter (I've had to do that a few times). I just used my fingernails on the top of the device to pull off the back cover.22:07
panandeok22:07
belkinsaNevermind, found it.22:09
panandeok I set it up again with 4.2.222:13
panandebtw how can I activate german for my ubuntu? I already installed it but somehow my system is still in english22:16
panandenow it worked22:18
fishsceneThe flash or the system language?22:18
panandeGod I hate ubuntu, but it all works so fine!!!!!!!!!!!! and looks great22:18
fishscenelol.22:18
fishsceneLanguage: System Settings > Language support. You can change the order of language preferences there. Try dragging "German" to the top. Maybe change your regional format too. Then click "apply system wide". You may have to log off and on (or reboot) to get the language working.22:21
panandeOk so changing the keyboard layout didnt work either22:31
panandeat the first time22:31
panandebut as everything seems to be working at the second try here with ubuntu...22:32
panandeAnd I was right22:34
panandenow the keyboard layout is normal22:34
panandeOk Im redoing the whole process now22:39
panandeand its again where it stopped the last time downloading 'boot.img'...22:40
fishscenelet it sit for a bit22:40
panandeyeah the last time I waited over an hour :D22:40
panandehow long should that step take normally?22:41
fishsceneWhat was the last command you ran?22:42
panande phablet-flash ubuntu-system --channel devel --no-backup22:43
fishsceneIt can take a while to transfer it to your device. Usually the Whole process for me takes about an hour.22:44
panandebut the whole process and not just that boot.img22:45
fishsceneBut I'm not sure if that's because I'm running Ubuntu in a VM or if the whole process (including downloading and running a full flash) really does take 1 hour.22:45
panandeIm also running it in a VM22:45
panandeit still says downloading boot img22:49
fishsceneI'll start my flash now and see if I beat you.22:50
panandeOK I really need some sleep now or Ill pass out...22:55
fishsceneTTYL mate… and good luck!22:55
fishscene…dang I'm slow.22:55
