=== gfrog_away is now known as gfrog [03:34] apw: The trusty kernel bits I just copied from the PPA seem to lack meta adjustments for arm64. [04:15] infinity, hrm, that'd be my fault, will sort and upload in the am [04:40] apw: Cool. No huge rush, just thought I'd point it out. :P === gfrog is now known as gfrog_busy === gfrog_busy is now known as gfrog === fmasi_afk is now known as fmasi [11:51] hi [11:52] 0 down vote favorite [11:52] [11:52] I would like to zero-out unused memory pages to reduce the size of VM snapshots. The hypervisor saves all non-zero pages in the snapshot, so freed, non-zero, but unused pages are stored in the snapshot when they needn't be. [11:52] is this possible? [12:18] bjf, hi [12:19] bjf, we've been whacked by some tooling issues this week that were outside of our control. how would you feel about me updating the tracking bugs tomorrow. i can go ahead with what we've got right now if you'd prefer though === fmasi is now known as fmasi_afk [15:00] lesshaste, there has been some talk of it, i have not seen any actual changes to implement it, but it wouldn't be so hard i recon [15:02] apw, oh! [15:02] apw, do you happen to have a reference to this talk? [15:02] apw, or some terms I can google [15:05] i would look for talk about kfree and _ZERO, but otherwise i no longer recall [15:07] brendand, that's fine, you have all next week as well for testing. not exactly sure what your asking me [15:08] lesshaste, oh and KSM i think was involved. they wanted it for the same purpose making unused pages in VMs merge i think [15:16] bjf, ok. usually we like to have results this week anyway [15:17] brendand, usually you don't start testing until next week (the 3rd week). we started setting the cert-testing task earlier because there wasn't any real need to wait until the 3rd week [15:18] brendand, so now, in the 3 week cadence, you have the 2nd and 3rd week to do your testing === fmasi_afk is now known as fmasi [15:31] apw, thanks [15:31] apw, actually.. which mailing list? lkml or an ubuntu one?
