I still have a few analog channels I'd like to get [16:10] stevie_man, it was pretty easy, set it up as an mpeg encoder card [16:11] tgm4883: lspic -n sees the card but mythtv-setup does not [16:12] odd [16:13] I haven't used mine in years so IDK [16:13] does it have a /dev/video# [16:22] tgm4883: odd is right. I'm running .24 if that makes a difference [16:23] tgm4883: not sure which /dev/video# might be assigned to the 150 card. I know it's not 1 but there is a 0 [16:34] tgm4883: but video0 is not an option in -setup, just video1 which is my digital card [16:34] stevie_man, IDK, sorry [16:35] I haven't dealt with a PVR card or 0.24 in probably 5 years [16:35] tgm4883: no problem. I was going to use it as the analog portion of my hybrid card doesn't seem to scan any actual analog channels [18:09] stevie_man: might be a permissions thing [18:10] check permissions on /dev/video* [18:10] and see if whatever permissions it has you can actually use from the user you're running mythtv-setup as [18:10] and more importantly that the mythtv daemon user has those permissions too [18:11] superm1: hmmm not sure what I did but now video0 and 24 are no longer listed when I do a ls /dev [18:11] reboot and they should be created by udev if the card is working and drivers load [18:12] superm1: I'll give that a try right now [18:15] superm1:Same permissions that video1 has which is a working card in Myth [18:16] stevie_man: look it up with 'getfacl' [18:16] see if they're the same with that [18:16] superm1: I think I noticed a few messages on bootup about ivtv0 which I believe is the 150 card. Do you have any idea which log I should check for bootup messages? [18:20] /var/log/syslog [18:20] or the command dmesg [18:26] superm1: Thanks, found what I was looking for looks like I'm missing some firmware? http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/6342681/ (line 59)? [19:01] stevie_man: http://ivtvdriver.org/index.php/Firmware [19:01] that should get you what you need [19:01] So I found the firmware file and the card is noticed by mythtv-setup now [19:01] i could have sworn we had that part of the linux-firmware-nonfree package at some point, but maybe it got dropped [19:02] good :) [19:02] superm1: thanks [19:02] sure [19:02] superm1: I have a new problem. The channel scan takes about 20 seconds, doesn't go above 5%, locks on every channel, and finds no channels [19:03] stevie_man: check in that same syslog for the driver mentioning anything about this [19:03] or in the terminal mythtv-setup is running in [19:03] superm1: It's a scan for analog channels if that makes any difference [19:38] superm1: Apparently the analog scan doesn't work in myth .24 but I can manually add the channels and they are just fine [19:38] oh weird [19:39] why not upgrade to a newer release? [20:01] superm1: I haven't got around to it, plus I'm on Debian so it's a PITA [20:01] superm1: ALso apparent;y the 150 isn't supported in .25+
