DanChapmanmorning davmor2 and elfy10:29
elfyDanChapman: when you're about with a few minutes ...10:29
elfyaaah should learn to either touchtype or look up before entering lol10:30
DanChapmanelfy, i've got some time now, so fire away :-)10:37
elfyok - really is quite simple - autopilot and the tests we're hoping to be running by milestones10:38
elfywhat 'exactly' will this be testing?10:38
elfywill it just test that the image is ok and runs?10:38
elfywill it test that an image will install properly?10:38
elfywhat about things like resizing testing?10:38
DanChapmanelfy it will test all of the above. Basically the tests cover multiple aspects of the install so pretty much follows the same processes as the current manual tests do.  So checking each  page has the correct entries, labels, images etc  which varies depending on the install scenario i.e lvm, manual partition etc. The plan is to cover all possible scenarios so resize testing is the next on my list.10:44
elfyok - thanks DanChapman - I'm planning trusty and just needed to know that10:45
elfyso - the test 'should' cover, at some point, all the current scenarios10:46
DanChapmannow the tests atm only cover up till the installation is finished and the VM is then shutdown so there is no tests for testing the install after a reboot. But i think there is plans to do a reboot and say run the desktop autopilot tests or some other tests to check the installation was successful in that respect10:46
elfyDanChapman: ok10:47
DanChapmanyes at 'some point' they should cover all feasible scenarios :-)10:47
elfy:)10:47
elfywe'll still want at least some eyes on it10:47
elfybut knowing that it has been at least tested will be a bit of a load off of shoulders10:48
DanChapmanelfy indeed, manual testing will always be needed :-)10:49
elfyyep10:49
elfyDanChapman: seems that I've got some takers for app autopilots for us as well10:50
* elfy wants quietly brush that off his hands ... 10:50
DanChapmanelfy, nice! We need more folks writing tests for the desktop apps10:52
elfyyea indeed - and 'we' need them writing tests for things that aren't phone :)10:53
elfyjust like the manual test situation I suspect we'll be up near the front again lol10:53
