=== qwebirc71824 is now known as pope_ [00:51] Hi everyone [00:51] I am having a problem with playing back videos [00:52] A green bar shows up at the bottom of the picture, does anyone know how to fix this? === dahlSTROM is now known as dahlSTROM|sleep [00:53] Here are some screens http://imgur.com/a/0M3If [01:24] Two bars when playing a DVD http://imgur.com/lRLyM1K [01:28] pope_: that's pretty common, you cna use the screen setup wizard (or whatever it's called) to cut off the bottom few pixles of the screen [01:29] skd5aner: thank you! i just found the article on overscan too :) [03:45] How to Ubuntu -> Mythbuntu? I installed mythbuntu-control-center via apt-get mythbuntu-control-center and when i run the command i get: http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/6408799/ [03:45] nv_, yea, we're working on fixing that. Are you trying to install a frontend or backend (or both)? [03:46] i know not. [03:46] what do you intend to use it for? [03:46] i have security camera and 3 TV tuners on HTPC [03:46] what tuners? [03:47] WinTV [03:47] hmm [03:47] do you know if those are supported in linux at all? [03:47] yes they work [03:47] I've not used win tv stuff in years [03:47] ok [03:48] so you'll need a frontend and a backend [03:48] (they can be on the same system) [03:48] ok [03:48] the backend controls all the recording and such, the frontend is for playback [03:48] since MCC is broken right now, I'd suggest opening a terminal and doing 'apt-get install mythtv-backend-master' [03:48] that should install the backend and mysql [03:49] i have a lampp stack running already [03:49] will this be affected? [03:50] shouldn't be, it will install mythtv-database and mythtv-common, which will try to install the DB into your system. It will probably ask for the root db password so it can set that up [03:50] k [03:52] once it's installed, run mythtv-setup you should be able to follow this guide if you need assistance https://docs.google.com/document/d/19knOlqz8cV5_8VQ1tCvEd8tjEk6U50KsSOJCROR60o4/edit?usp=sharing [03:52] I'm going to do some wiring, i'll be back in a bit [03:53] thank you [04:31] mythtv-setup having troubles connecting to the database. in phpmyadmin i see i have a new DB named mythconverg and I have a new user named mythtv [04:32] nv_, probably a password issue [04:32] "sudo dpkg-reconfigure mythtv-database" then do "sudo dpkg-reconfigure mythtv-common" [04:41] no effect. looking at the terminal output, its getting rejected by the DB server, bad password [04:50] nv_, hmm, that should have reset it. Can you check /etc/mythtv/config.xml and see if it has the same credentials as ~/.mythtv/config.xml [04:54] they match [04:54] let me just try restarting [05:43] installing mythbuntu on an existing lampp stack seems to break apache [05:46] mythbuntu +lamp you will find people in forums trying to figure out how to fix their lampp after installing mythbuntu [05:52] nv_, odd, where does it break? [05:52] still trying to figure out whats going on [05:53] tried to setup a CMS script to test my lampp stack to see if the problem is on my end. index pages are no longer loading by default, instead i am getting a dir listing [05:54] nv_, there shouldn't be anything done to apache unless you say you are only using apache with mythtv/mythweb [05:54] superm1, ^ [05:59] the not loading index pages by default occurred after this step: tgm4883> "sudo dpkg-reconfigure mythtv-database" then do "sudo dpkg-reconfigure mythtv-common" [06:01] i had loaded up my phpmyadmin page to check mysql befre running that and it worked, after running that command i have to click on index.php after typing in the URL [07:13] i dont know what happened but tasksel remove and tasksel install lampp-server fixed it === dahlSTROM|sleep is now known as dahlSTROM [17:24] tgm4883: um so mythweb will ask if you are only using the system for mythweb [17:24] guess that user is gone already [17:25] but if they come back and i'm not here, ask how they responded to that question [17:25] it shouldn't mess with the lamp stack if they said they use it for other stuff [17:25] just set up "another" website under /mythweb [17:35] tgm4883: that quick start guide, are we advertising it anywhere? [17:35] other than /topic [19:29] superm1, I'm not sure. I want to say we had a blog post about it [19:29] superm1, I advertise it in my forum sig [19:29] tgm4883: we should get it on the website and on the mythtv wiki i think [19:29] will do [19:30] i had a friend just getting things set up and watching his struggle not knowing anything about mythtv was kinda funny [19:30] but i couldn't find a good guide to point him at really [19:36] ok, it's on the site now === dahlSTROM is now known as dahlSTROM|sleep
