ps1monhello00:45
balsaqgood morning lubuntu07:01
Newkhi, got an older computer installed with lubuntu 12.04 and has network pci that is recognized in the system.. but it fails to start it? NetworkManager is running but i am missing something to connect to my network17:49
=== lubuntu is now known as Guest12997
Guest12997How can I find out the temperature of my system? xsensors says 'No supported sensors found'17:54
Guest12997(I'm on a live system now btw)17:54
holsteinGuest12997: i would try referring to https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SensorInstallHowto17:56
geniiGuest12997: Do you have package lm-sensors installed?17:56
vn151502510Guest12997: uhm, how about `cat /sys/devices/virtual/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp`17:57
Guest12997genii, yeah, lm-sensors is installed, and I also ran sensors-detect17:57
Guest12997vn151502510, no such file or directory17:59
Newkso strange that i installed lubuntu 12.04 via netboot.. and once it is running it fails to see the network, very odd17:59
vn151502510Guest12997: lxpanel has applet "temperature monitor", maybe18:00
Guest12997holstein, I have no service module-init-tools18:01
holsteinGuest12997: you might not have a vendor that is supporting these tools18:01
Guest12997holstein, which tools?18:03
holsteinGuest12997: the ones you are referencing and trying18:04
holsteinGuest12997: the hardware may not support linux18:04
Guest12997holstein, the hardware came with RedHat pre-installed, so I'm sure it supports linux18:04
holsteinGuest12997: might *have* supported some kernel.. you cant assume it should report information to any OOS18:05
holsteinOS*18:05
Guest12997holstein, well, short of buying a new computer, what can  I do about it?18:06
holsteinGuest12997: well, ideally, the vendor would help you with the support.. but, i think its likely something you can get working18:08
holsteinwhat would i do? just use the bios to make certain the hardware is functioning.. and clean the machine and use it18:08
Guest12997holstein, well, I just replaced the paste between the CPU and the heatsing, so I want to make sure the temperature is not too high before I start using the pc for real. I'll just try with an older live system to see if the wiki instructions work18:12
holsteinGuest12997: the bios should report what  seek18:12
Guest12997thanks for you help, i'm shutting down now before I melt something ;)18:12
holsteinwhat you seek*18:12
Guest12997will try the bios, thanks!18:12
Newkseemed like a common issue.. this fixed it: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Lubuntu/Documentation/MinimalInstall#Change_Network_Manager_settings18:18
