ScottyKgreetings! when I attempt to boot into Kubuntu 13.10, I'll get the 13.10 splashscreen, then suddenly go to a "initramfs" prompt. typing "exit" gives me a kernel panic. Recovery mode also does the same thing. suggestions?01:22

=== freeflying_away is now known as freeflying
BluesKajHi all12:24
Walexsoee: it does not make sense to do so.12:36
soeeWalex, ?12:37
Walexsoee: Thunderbird is an application, not a tray widget12:37
soeeso as IRC clients, Amarok etc12:37
Walexsoee: so you can minimize it to the icon bar12:37
soeebut they can be minimized to tray12:37
Walexsoee: amaroK and others are *both* applications and have a tray widget inside.12:38
WalexBTW in KDE the "icon bar" is called "task manager".12:38
soeeee no ?12:40
Quintasanalaa: Back to the question12:41
Quintasanopen up konsole12:41
Quintasantype k3b and press enter12:41
soeetask manager is not the same as system tray12:41
Quintasanpaste the output to paste.kde.org and paste the link here12:41
Walexsoee: yes, task manager is for full applications, system tray is for tray widgets (or apps that contain a tray widget)12:42
haroldbethwelsh_anyone here know how I can get a network connection in kubuntu?12:43
alaaok12:43
Walexharoldbethwelsh_: what does that mean?12:43
soeeQuintasan, http://pastebin.com/fS0gJnXf12:44
BluesKajthunderbird has an extension/addon called firetray which minmimizes to the sys tray12:44
haroldbethwelsh_I tried to install kubuntu but it wants an internet connection and it tells me i do not have one. I had this problem befor with other distros12:44
soeeQuintasan, 13.10 KDE 4.12 RC12:44
haroldbethwelsh_my computer connects directly to a router and usually do not have any issues12:44
alaahttp://goo.gl/ir1trD12:44
soeeQuintasan, ah i thought it was general question :D sorry12:44
soeeBluesKaj, thank you, works fine, though its missing monochrome icon12:46
Quintasanalaa: you're trying to run k3b or k3d, since those two are different12:47
alaaquintasan: here it is http://pastebin.kde.org/pxjbm5jyb12:47
Quintasanand I'm rather sure this is a problem with k3d being buggy12:47
alaano k3d12:47
alaaI get the same error when trying to run blender as well12:47
alaaand I need to use one of them12:47
BluesKajsoee, set it up in sys tray > settings12:48
Quintasanalaa: This is a problem with X <-> drivers I think12:48
alaawhat is that? how can I fix it12:48
Quintasanalaa: No idea, I'm not really an expert on X12:48
alaaok, thanks12:48
BluesKajsoee, sys tray settings >entries12:48
alaahttp://pastebin.kde.org/pnk0mfvkw12:49
soeeBluesKaj, yes just have to find one12:49
Quintasanalaa: You might want to ask around at #blender if anyone had such a problem12:49
alaaok, I will try thanks12:50
BluesKajsoee, if the addon is installed it should show the icon options in the entries12:50
soeeBluesKaj, i have icon option, i just have to find monochrome one :)12:51
BluesKajoh .ok12:51

veduHello. I am having a issue with the network manager. It doesn't connected to saved wifi networks15:24
ronnocUhggg... examples like this are why KWallet should be disabled by default on install :/ http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2193354&p=12872145#post1287214516:28
ronnocIt's never a good 'new user' experience16:28

ubottunetsplit is when two IRC servers of the same network (like freenode) disconnect from each other, so users on one server stop seeing users on the other. If this is happening now, just relax and enjoy the show. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netsplit16:37

willwork4fooHi all. I know this has probably been answered, but I'm not getting any joy from my google searches. Does anyone know how to fix Kmail so it properly displays an email signature from an HTML file?22:00
rbergwillwork4foo: is the problem that kmail wont reach out for external resources be default?22:16
rbergmy coworkers insist on html mail and I see their sigs22:17
willwork4fooberg: no, the problem is that I've attached my sig.html (that works fine in Thunderbird) and it just displays raw HTML22:19
willwork4foowhen I create a new message22:19
willwork4fooI'd really much rather use Kmail than Thunderbird, it's a far nicer client22:19
willwork4fooHow do I tell Kmail to create new emails as HTML by default?22:20
rberglooks like there is an option in kmail settings / identity / signature / use html22:21
rbergI agree I dont care for thunderbird.. if not kmail I use mutt22:22
willwork4fooberg - I'm not seeing that22:23
rbergsometimes I have kmail freak out then akonadi / mysql pegs all cpu.. that makes my laptop feel like its going to start a fire22:23
willwork4fookmail settings / identity / signature / use html   - ??22:23
rbergmaybe because I am using 4.11.3 from the ppa22:24
willwork4fooI'm using from Ubuntu's repo22:24
willwork4fooSo - I've found the "Use HTML" option, but that only relates to if you're going to use the text field to create your signature.22:25
willwork4foothis is really poor.22:26
rbergyes... mutts motto "All mail clients suck. This one just sucks less."22:28
willwork4fooah well. I give up.22:31
rbergcan you copy your html into that text window?22:32
rbergI know its jumping through hoops22:32
