[06:09] morning superfly and others [06:12] hi Kilos [06:16] morning all [06:16] hi ThatGraemeGuy [06:30] yo ThatGraemeGuy [06:36] 'lo fly [07:06] no fair. xchat only shows graphical smileys in winsucks [07:06] i like to see who sticks tongue out at me [07:13] its called windows, don't sink to that level [07:14] sorry [07:26] morning [07:26] hi there Squirm bored already? [07:28] it's been ok [07:29] been keeping myself busy [07:29] good [07:59] hi Vince-0 [08:01] Hi! [08:48] good morning all [08:48] Maaz_: coffee on [08:48] * Maaz_ flips the salt-timer [08:48] hi Kilos, Vince-0, Squirm, ThatGraemeGuy [08:48] and superfly [08:50] hi :) [08:52] Coffee's ready for charl! [08:52] ! [08:53] got (one of) our outbound links updated this morning to 40gbps [08:53] i don't notice much of a difference though [08:53] Maaz_: thanks [08:53] charl: Sure [08:56] Maaz_, hi [08:56] * Maaz_ waves to Kilos [08:57] hi charl [08:57] thats fast that [09:08] Morning great world [09:08] * oupateddie Waves [09:10] hi oupateddie [09:11] howzit [09:12] lekker and you? [09:12] trying to play with kubuntu 13.10 [09:12] Installed in clean on the lappie [09:13] but some small things I am not sure of yet [09:13] fast hey [09:13] or do you update same time [09:13] ok lemme reboot to kde [09:14] well I got it installed and yes it is quite fast. Tell me how the hell do I arrange the icons on the desktop? [09:18] oupateddie: you don't, the "desktop" is not a place to store your icons [09:19] OK kindly enlighten me [09:19] you can change it if you want, but there really isn't a reason to [09:19] oupateddie: if you want access to your often used programs, you can right-click on them in the menu and say "add to favourites" [09:19] well then help. As I am an OLD gnome user [09:19] that'll add them to the front page of the menu [09:19] ok [09:20] you can also right-click on the item in the task bar and select "show a launcher when not running" and it'll leave the icon there when the app is not running (like on Windows 7) [09:21] ok let me start from one point. I have no remoived the icons on the desktop asw ell as a second desktop I had [09:22] right now I want to add icons to some place where I can access them easily. I thus right-click and ad to favourites [09:22] yip [09:22] then when you open the menu, they're there [09:23] or, start your app, and then right-click on its entry in the task bar and click on "show a launcher when not running" and it'll be on the task bar all the time [09:25] also if you want to run something you tick the blue launcher bottom left and type in the program you want to run and it will show [09:25] oupateddie: superfly is the kde master here, him and inetpro [09:26] I don't actually use the normal menu any more, I use something similar to Unity's dash called Homerun [09:26] but I prefer using my keyboard to my mouse :-) [09:26] lol we arent all at your level superfly [09:26] I also prefer keaboard [09:27] so where I get this Homerun [09:27] Maaz_: google Homerun for 13.10 kubuntu [09:27] Kilos: "How To Install Homerun Kicker 1.1.0 On Kubuntu 13.10/13.04/12.10 ..." http://linuxg.net/how-to-install-homerun-kicker-1-1-0-on-kubuntu-13-1013-0412-10-and-linux-mint-161514-using-kde/ :: "Kubuntu 13.10 Quick Look « openDarkwing" http://opendarkwing.com/kubuntu-13-10-quick-look/ :: "Kubuntu 13.04 Personal Setup, (+Homerun Launcher Re-Ordering ..." [09:27] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEJm7yI_u30 :: "homerun + kicker : “Blue-Shell” team - Launchp… [09:28] * Kilos looks too [09:30] OK I'll get there in time. I have right clicked on the FireFox and aade [09:30] OK I see it on the taslbaar [09:33] oupateddie: I right-click on the icon and then set the keyboard shortcut to Windows+F1 [09:33] then I can press Meta+F1 and start typing my app name [09:36] Ok I'm trying to install the homerun widget [09:36] superfly: did you have homerun on 12.04 too [09:45] hi psyatw [09:46] holy crap there are some stupid people in this world [09:47] hi Symmetria [09:47] of course there are [09:48] steers afrovan seriously just asked me if Kenya was an international destination while I was trying to get moving quotes [09:48] * Symmetria double facepalms [09:50] what is an activity? [10:05] oupateddie: it's like a different style of interacting with your desktop (I think) [10:12] Was on the phone, thanks [10:13] sjoe [10:31] internet [10:31] is painfully slow [10:31] I miss my internet [10:37] dont rush man you on holiday [11:09] so when I'm stuck at my parents house and have nothing to do but sit and watch a painfully slow download of the latest How I met your Mother... [11:09] I musn't rush ? [11:09] :/ [11:09] I can't rush [11:10] sadly, I think I'm going to cut my losses and download the lower quality version :( [11:11] non-HD quality on an HD TV, when you're used to watching HD, looks shocking [11:20] taking a look at pycharm now [11:20] it's a proprietary product although it does seem to have a dumbed-down open source version [11:21] but for a python ide, that looks really grown up [11:23] haha [12:12] heh everyone ready for a very dark day on the internet? [12:13] no :/ [12:13] my internet is pretty dead anyway [12:15] heh, the routing table just got 2 large for a large number of deployed routers on the internet to handle [12:15] we're on the verge of a pretty catastrophic event that people are gonna have to run around fixing ;p [12:15] lol [12:15] wow [12:24] lol [12:24] it's about time we hit some hurdles again... it was going far too well for my taste [12:25] charl lol, its a minature y2k bug of ciscos creation [12:25] i'm sure they will fix it shortly with an ios update, if they haven't already [12:25] cant be fixed with an ios update [12:25] its a setting that has to be done outside of ios [12:26] and haha no one updates ios unless there is a problem [12:26] so whats gonna happen is, half the internet is gonna screw out, and THEN people are gonna start fixing [12:26] and you're looking at a day or 2 of chaos [12:26] at least [12:26] sounds like fun [12:27] serves people right for using cisco :P [12:29] yes cisco can die in a fire [12:29] gimme juniper kthx [12:30] i was looking at metafabric just now [12:30] heh in the routing world you really have 4 choices on the higher end [12:30] cisco [12:30] juniper [12:30] huawei [12:30] and alcatel [12:30] alcatel will make baby Jesus weep [12:30] huawei you need to hire a translator if you want any support [12:30] yeah i was about to say... alcatel... really? [12:31] cisco, well, cisco is just... cisco ;p [12:31] charl heh, ALU stuff works, its just horrific to configure [12:31] shockingly, they actually hold a HUGE percentage of the market [12:31] they have a 25% market share in the high end routing market [12:31] but I hate their stuff [12:32] bah [12:43] at home i have a ubee cpe device but it's a complete piece of carp [12:43] i just connect myself directly to the damn thing with an ethernet cable [12:44] the wifi is so bad it doesn't stretch for more than 5 metre i think [12:47] wb Kilos [12:47] ty [12:47] no idea what happened but anyway [12:48] hi cmsch [12:51] hi Kilos. I'm just lurking [12:53] thats fine cmsch [12:53] this is quite interesting [12:53] earlier this year, google decided to move away from xmpp [12:53] what can you teach us. lurking is boring [12:53] microsoft, on the other hand, is moving towards xmpp http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Lync_Server#XMPP [12:54] "Lync Server has an XMPP gateway server to federate with external XMPP servers." [12:54] "With Lync Server 2013 - XMPP is natively part of the product" [12:54] so much for google... [12:54] charl: you on kde? [12:55] Kilos: no on i3 [12:55] eish [12:55] i do have kde running in a VM though [12:55] you need something? [12:56] i did a kde upgrade on 12.04 and now the bottom panel is black so i cant see my 10 workspaces [12:57] no idea, i'm running 13.10 here in the vm [12:57] which theme are you using? oxygen? [12:57] yeah [12:57] maybe it might help moving back to air [12:57] oxygen just seems to be borked [12:58] oxygen is known to be buggy in any case [12:58] ok ty lemme try that [13:02] doesnt change anything [13:02] everything on air now [13:03] i dunno if it would need a reboot to show [13:04] seems like you hit a weird bug there [13:04] http://askubuntu.com/questions/70694/how-to-change-color-transparency-of-all-desktop-panels [13:04] followed that but no change [13:04] grrr [15:00] hmm... [15:01] du8e to incomplete upgrade charl [15:01] due as well [15:02] fixed now but in my morning fiddles i ticked number workspaces and now cant find that to switch it off [15:02] domdonner [17:41] oh my, lightning hit tower, so signal but irc working [17:41] Maaz_, coffee on [17:41] * Maaz_ flips the salt-timer [17:42] Maaz_, quck [17:42] Kilos: Sorry...
