veebersHmm, just installed Trusty on a new laptop, trying to shutdown just powers it down and then starts it up again. Is it possible it is a software issue or a hardware issue?05:13

larsuhow is it going?09:10
Laneyhey larsu, it's going quite well thank you - had a night in playing board games last night :-)09:11
Laneyhow are you?09:11
larsunice. I'm good thanks. Feeling much better today :)09:12
Laneygreat, in time for holidays!09:13
larsu\o/09:13
Laneybeen irritating some local politicians to try and make some streets around here traffic free too09:15
Laneyall good fun09:15
larsucool! Did they comply?09:18
Laneypositive sounds, apparently arranging a meeting in january or something09:23
Laneyturns out some people already asked for similar stuff09:23
mlankhorstwell I have a bike lane for 16 km or so next to the busy road. :P09:24
Laneythough having never interacted with politicians before, I'm wary of getting a fobbing off09:24
mlankhorsthehehe09:24
larsuha09:24
mlankhorstthey might snare you in red tape09:24
larsuwell, at least they're listening09:24
Laneyyep09:24
larsuwhich is a step up from many politicians I know...09:24
larsu(unless there's an election coming up, of course)09:25
Laneyit's been closed for a year already for some tram works09:25
Laneyso my argument is "look, the world didn't end, let's keep it shut"09:25
mlankhorsthave you met any, larsu?09:25
larsumlankhorst: some local ones when I used to live in magdeburg09:26
Laneymlankhorst: cyclist campaigns here often use "go dutch" as a slogan :P09:26
Laneycycle lanes on busy roads we certainly can do09:26
mlankhorstheheheh09:27
mlankhorstso what are the tests unity runs in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/1260068 ?10:26
ubot2`Launchpad bug 1260068 in mesa (Ubuntu) "Unity continuous-integration fails in armhf due possibly to a libegl issue" [Critical,Confirmed]10:26

larsuxnox: man, half a day of looking in the wifi plugin to find out the real issue was in the prepare plugin :/  anyway, patch is up: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/126039614:05
ubot2`Launchpad bug 1260396 in gtk+3.0 (Ubuntu Trusty) "Ubiquity window spans width of screen" [High,In progress]14:05
larsuxnox: and suprisingly small for now. I'd appreciate some testing, maybe we need that for other labels as well14:06
xnoxlarsu: ack. thanks a lot for hunting this down.14:06
=== alan_g|lunch is now known as alan_g
larsuxnox: it's one of those search-for-a-long-time-come-up-with-a-two-line-patch things. At least I learned now how ubiquity works :)14:07
ochositiheum: just read your post about the new icon-theme, "eventually" landing on the desktop means you're not aiming for 14.04?14:09
xnoxlarsu: and the most hackiest page of them all, as well =)14:09
larsuheh, ya14:09
SweetsharkYou may  call me director for two more years: http://blog.documentfoundation.org/2013/12/18/preliminary-results-elections-tdf-board-of-directors/14:16
larsuSweetshark: congrats!!14:18
Sweetsharklarsu: thx.14:18
desrtSweetshark: congrats :)14:19
tiheumochosi: Our priority is to deliver a complete and beautiful icon theme on mobile and tablet for 14.04. The desktop needs more work both in terms of icon design (files, folders, devices, Gnome 3 symbolic icons) and development (adapt the GTK theme, patch Unity 7). So porting the icon theme to the desktop is something that we will consider but at this point no decision has been taken.14:28
ochositiheum: ok, thanks for the update! just to clarify where i'm coming from, i'm the artwork-lead of xubuntu and i'm really interested in your work and happy to see it happening!14:28
tiheumochosi: thanks14:29
ochositiheum: so in fact i would be very happy to adapt the icon-theme for xubuntu also and maybe even contribute to your theme, if you're open for that14:29
ochositiheum: depends on how you'll work on this project, if it's something more "in-house" i guess i'll have to wait for it to trickle down14:32

Sweetsharkdesrt: thx. In very happy with the result -- the board composition is something that is workable.14:35
desrtplus... everything is better with meeks14:36
Sweetsharkdesrt: meeks as a board member or as a voting method? we have both ;)14:36
desrtthe guy created his own voting method?14:37
desrthow does that work?  extra points based on the impressiveness of your beard?14:37
Sweetsharkdesrt: no we are hackers. extra points for neck beards.14:39
Sweetsharkhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meek%27s_method#Meek14:40
tiheumochosi: We are still doing design explorations and improvements for the icons. I think that the project will be open to contributions once the design principles will be agreed and the corresponding guidelines published.14:44
ochositiheum: ok, sounds nice! anyway, keep up the good work! :)14:47
tiheumthank you!14:47

attenteLaney, is there a way to cache the build output of dpkg-buildpackage/debuild/bzr bd?15:43
Laneycache in what way?15:44
Laneyyou mean a build log?15:44
attentelike to reuse the build directory between builds15:44
attenteso that the package doesn't need to be re-built if i've only changed a few files15:45
Laneyoh, -nc = "no clean"15:45
Laneydoesn't always work properly though15:45
attenteso subsequent builds would automatically know to reuse the directory? there isn't an extra flag for that?15:46
Laneyit won't work with out of tree builds15:47
Laneytried ccache? ;-)15:48
attentesure, i'll give ccache a try :)15:48
sabdflany reason we have deps on both gstreamer-1.0 and gstreamer-0.10 in -desktop?15:49
Laneysabdfl: I think the status is that there's one or two stragglers that didn't get ported yet (I think bluez and firefox), and you need to seed those packages otherwise you don't get proper output15:56
Laney'those' being -alsa and -pulseaudio IIRC15:56
sabdflack, thanks Laney15:56
Laneybluez actually has an upstream version that is ported but there was an issue that I can't quite remember which seb128 mentioned15:57
kenvandinelooks like gnome-media also still depends on it15:57
kenvandinewhich g-c-c depends on15:57
LaneyI thought we booted that out15:57
cyphermoxLaney: bluez 5 I guess you mean, which is hugely different from 4.101 and then we run into other things not being ported15:58
kenvandinegnome-control-center-data depends on it15:58
cyphermoxlike pulseaudio15:58
Laneyyeah15:58
kenvandineactually, i'm looking at saucy, maybe that's been  fixed for trusty15:58
Laneyit has Replaces: gnome-media-common15:58
cyphermoxpulseaudio now has bluez5 support but only in git AFAIR, not as a formal release15:58
Laneyanyway, I guess that's the reason15:59
kenvandinegood, almost done migrating away from 0.10 :)15:59
Laneyapt-cache show firefox15:59
LaneyERM15:59
Laneydoesn't have any gst dependencies, weird16:00
LaneyI guess we probably ought to keep on seeding those 0.10 packages even when the default install is ported away though16:02
Laneyit's pretty inexplicable when they're not installed and you get no audio16:02
cyphermoxyeah :/16:04
