[02:49] Hi everyone [02:52] hey Guest89396 [02:53] I'm a Computer Science student, interested in contributing to Ubuntu, currently reading this https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ContributeToUbuntu Haven't used IRC before so was just checking it works [02:53] which is does, thanks @Noskcaj [02:54] no problem. It's great to have another new contributor. Try and have irc online as much as possible, since it makes it easier to contact you, and more people will recognize you. === Guest89396 is now known as joelhoskin [05:05] something's odd with upstart. [05:06] it's taking up 200MB of memory on my machine. how odd. [05:06] at least, the init --user process === doko_ is now known as doko [11:45] Can someone help me fix this error http://askubuntu.com/questions/397724/quickly-error-cant-create-or-update-ubuntu-package === lionel_ is now known as lionel === sraue_ is now known as sraue === mike_ is now known as mikecb === ObrienDave is now known as Dave === Dave is now known as ObrienDave [15:06] cjwatson: What was wrong with Debian version of python-qt4? I saw you changed something, but then wgrant_ reverted that. [16:06] mitya57: i think this is all influx trying to support multiple python 3 versions at the same time. As at the moment work is underway to enable 3.4 and 3.3 both as supported versions. 3.3 still the default at hte moment. [16:07] mitya57: some of the things are fixed by latest python3.4 upload https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python3.4/3.4~b1-4ubuntu5 which still needs python3-defaults rebuild. [16:09] xnox: the Debian version of pyqt4 should build fine for multiple python3 versions (that worked in 3.2/3.3 times), but it looks like cjwatson didn't like something [16:10] mitya57: nobody denies that it builds =) it didn't provide correct pyqtconfig, and thus pykde4 was FTBFS with not able to find/import pyqtconfig. That's as much as I know. Let me look up FTBFS build logs, if not cobbled over. [16:10] That's a bit more helpful, then why was it reverted? [16:11] mitya57: i think buildlogs got overriden, but there is another upload of pykde4 to fix 3.3&3.4 compat. [16:11] http://launchpadlibrarian.net/161093392/pykde4_4%3A4.12.0-0ubuntu1_4%3A4.12.0-0ubuntu2.diff.gz [16:12] not sure why wgrant_ is removing ABITAG renaming =/ [16:12] ... unless that is done elsewhere / later. [16:13] nah, looks like everything is properly abitagged in the debs. [16:14] mitya57: wgrant didn't revert it, he fixed it harder [16:14] My main question is whether I should include cjwatson's changes in Debian or not [16:15] cjwatson: no, it is a revert [16:15] The current d/rules in Ubuntu and Debian are equivalent [16:15] mitya57: I beg to differ, I've read the change and it isn't [16:15] https://launchpadlibrarian.net/161093392/pykde4_4%3A4.12.0-0ubuntu1_4%3A4.12.0-0ubuntu2.diff.gz is not a revert of anything I did [16:15] er whoops that's pykde4, let me recheck [16:17] huh, so it is. perhaps I made a mistake then, sorry [16:17] I initially tried to get it to build with the new python-defaults and it failed, but I no longer have the log [16:18] mitya57: So I guess pretend that never happened and we can sync over it next time [16:18] sorry for the confusion [16:18] cjwatson: ok, thanks [16:20] I probably got confused at some point in the six-hour build time on my laptop :-/ === Guest86595 is now known as LoganCloud === LoganCloud is now known as Guest95298 === fabo_ is now known as fabo [17:21] cjwatson: mitya57: i think it's relevant that python-defaults & python3.4 had fixes in the mean time. E.g. it used to be correct to patch the way cjwatson did, until python-defaults/python3.4 got re-fixed. [17:23] You mean python3-defaults [17:23] Thanks for investigation! === alexlist` is now known as alexlist [17:54] xnox: ah, could be === mike is now known as Guest51978 === Guest51978 is now known as mikecb === mike_ is now known as Guest66446 === mnepton is now known as mneptok === Guest66446 is now known as mikecb === wgrant_ is now known as wgrant === mike is now known as Guest9476 === Guest9476 is now known as mikecb === ObrienDave is now known as Obr13nD4v3
