[01:21] hello, I'm trying to mount a network share in nautilus (13.04 with Gnome 3.8). I believe that is supposed to work like "connect to server", enter an URL and click "connect". This is where I stumble, because the "connect" button is greyed out, I can't click it [01:23] Did you fill in all the fields? [01:26] SonikkuAmerica, there is just the one in the first dialog [01:27] Well, I'm on Ubuntu Studio (which uses XFCE but I'm using i3)... can I have a screenshot? [01:28] SonikkuAmerica, hang on === ph_afk is now known as ph [01:33] SonikkuAmerica, sorry, that took a while https://www.dropbox.com/s/s1wbhwomd23t86f/Bildschirmfoto%20vom%202014-01-03%2002%3A29%3A19.png [01:35] What kind of a connection are you trying to establish? Samba? [01:36] yes [01:37] You have to add "smb:" before the // [01:38] So "smb://cifs.hidrive.strato.com/ [01:41] SonikkuAmerica, that lets me click the "connect- button, but then I get an error "Oops, something went wrong. unknown error. mounting windows-share failed. connection timed out." [01:44] So it thinks it's a Win.dows share [01:45] well smb is a windows share, right? [01:46] Yeah, ... [01:47] But you might try specifying a share name, however - in your screenshot I only saw a domain [01:52] SonikkuAmerica, I have these instructions from the Cloud provider: https://www.dropbox.com/s/s13pobp2thsm3uf/DE_Linux_SMB-1.pdf [01:53] they actually give two different methods [01:53] there is also a script in there which doesn't work [02:00] SonikkuAmerica, do you know if this is supposed to work out of the box in Ubuntu Gnome? [02:04] it's not working with the share name either [04:49] I just noticed, there's no link to download ubuntu-gnome... [04:49] http://ubuntugnome.org/download/ [04:50] goes to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuGNOME/OneStopPage and https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuGNOME/GetUbuntuGNOME [04:50] people click download button [04:50] brings them to... https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuGNOME/GetUbuntuGNOME if they're not already there [04:51] Torrent [04:51] Please use the torrent link to download, https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BitTorrent [04:51] You have no clues that all you have to do is scroll down for the actual link [04:51] It's hilariously bad web design [04:52] TLDR; Link to http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-gnome/releases/13.10/release/ instead [04:53] http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-gnome/releases/14.04/alpha-1/ Dare I try this? [04:53] 4 months away from release, soo much to do [05:10] don't bother with the releases, just use the latest daily [05:10] things are fairly stable, but still some 3.10 updates to come [05:14] HardWareGuy, feel free to improve the wiki page! we intentially link http://ubuntugnome.org/download/ to that so we don't have to maintain same details in two places [05:22] Hold up... if your site is just a front-end of the wiki page... I could make a new frontend... hmm... [05:22] Is there an API? [05:22] Or is it jsut using the raw html from the wiki pages ripped out and framed in [05:25] the website is a wordpress site hosted Canonical [05:26] ah so they control everything WP and below [05:26] yes and its all linked into launchpad for authentication [05:27] (and the wiki pages are just via the normal ubuntu wiki server) [05:29] I would say the website and wiki serve different purposes, however we don't really have anyone dedicated to maintaining/designing better website [05:29] Can you use regular Wp themes? [05:30] HardWareGuy, yes, just have to open a ticket to get them installed though [05:31] Well, that doesn't sound fun for developing a new theme [05:32] nobody is going to develop a theme on a production server! [05:32] I do... you have a test and live copy and flip-flop [05:33] Only pain is when you have logins and want to remember those [05:36] anyway looks like can upload themes through admin panel [05:37] Soo I could mod a theme and send you it... all I need to do is make a guinea pig Wp install for testing [05:44] I don't support you could send me a copy of the current theme so I'd be less likely to make a screwy theme. [05:45] oh it's the twentyeleven theme [05:47] yeh its just one of the standard ones [05:47] so overused :P [05:47] heh the background is one of the stock gnome wallpapers [05:48] yes [05:49] Most Popular ยป [05:49] Twenty Twelve Downloaded 27,773 times [05:49] Twenty Eleven Downloaded 27,121 times [05:49] Twenty Thirteen Downloaded 24,762 times [05:49] Twenty Ten Downloaded 19,560 times [05:49] anyway would be great if you can make a better theme! Just co-ordinate with Alfredo (our artwork/design lead) [05:49] wow WP users are boring people :P [05:50] What would an artwork/design guy do in the land of vanilla gnome :P [05:51] plymouth theme, ubiquity slideshow, all the artwork on the wiki [05:52] distro logos [05:52] I don't suppose there's an ubuntu-gnome art site [05:52] or a wiki page for proposing art [05:54] there is definately a wike page for artwork stuff [05:56] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuGNOME/Artwork weeee [06:10] hmm someting like http://wordpress.org/themes/tempera modded could look good [06:13] yes potentially, I am not a design guy though!
