valorie:-000:50
SonikkuAmericaSo anyway...00:50
valorieand ahoneybun IS here now00:50
valorieso that's perfect00:50
valorieso lubuntu and ubuntugnome docs -- do you have a link?00:51
SonikkuAmericaActually, my proposal, while similar, is somewhat different...00:52
SonikkuAmericaAli/amjjawad created a one-page landing for all things Lubuntu when he was still there (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LubuntuLinks), and when he moved to Ubuntu GNOME, he did a similar page on the wiki (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuGNOME/OneStopPage). I was wondering if there would be usefulness in shuffling the idea over to the Kubuntu wiki?00:52
valoriethat looks quite excellent00:53
valorieyou may not have heard that we've moved the Kubuntu Docs to the KDE wiki00:53
SonikkuAmerica(Or if there would be a way of, say, optimizing the wiki or whatnot to include easier access to information patterned after that...)00:53
valoriebut certainly we still use the ubuntu wiki system00:53
SonikkuAmericaNope, didn't hear that...00:53
valoriemediawiki is so much easier to work with00:54
SonikkuAmerica(That's actually not a bad idea at all, though...)00:54
valorieand translator tool is possible to use00:54
valoriebut still, the wiki is useful00:54
valoriejust not for docs00:54
valoriesorry, I just realized it's time to make dinner00:55
SonikkuAmericaOK00:55
valoriethanks very much for the links!00:55
SonikkuAmericaI'll be around for a while... just pitching the idea00:55
valoriecool00:55
SonikkuAmerica:)00:55
SonikkuAmericaYeah, go fix and eat dinner and let's talk more00:55
valoriefeel free to make a start on such a page and solicit links for it00:55
SonikkuAmericaOn the wiki?00:55
valorieyes00:55
SonikkuAmericaWhat should I book as the link title?00:55
valorieKubuntuLinks sounds good to me, what do you think?00:56
SonikkuAmericaCan do! :)00:56
valoriegreat!00:56

ahoneybun?07:34
valorieSonikkuAmerica found this and an ubuntu gnome page which is similar, and wondered if such a page might be useful to us07:36
valorieI explained how our docs and other stuff is organized, so he is going to find and list links like that for us07:37
valorieand maybe find some gems in our old wiki07:37
valorieand maybe some junk that we can delete07:37
ahoneybunnice07:37
valorieyes, he has a week before college starts, and wants to make himself useful07:38
valoriecleaning our wiki sounds ideal07:38
ahoneybunyea I start back on the 7th07:43
ahoneybunso how is the house valorie?07:50
valorieI can see the dirt under my house07:55
valoriehopefully Tuesday they will be done under there, and build a floor again07:56
valorieI hope then progress will start!07:56

tester56i have written a script that automatically installs packages for me on trusty ... however apt complains about unmet dependencies for different packages such as "python-pycurl-dbg" 16:57
tester56when I try "sudo apt-get install python-pycurl-dbg" it complains " Depends: python-pycurl (= 7.19.0-5ubuntu8) but 7.19.0-5ubuntu9 is to be installed"16:57
tester56where should I report such packaging errors?16:58
BluesKajtester56, suggest you also alias a dist-upgrade in your script 17:00
tester56BluesKaj: i am on newest daily, no external sources configured ... so what would be the point?17:00
tester56if you are on latest trusty try "sudo apt-get install python-pycurl-dbg" and you will see what I mean ;-)17:02
tester56may script processes a list of options to apt-get install and if one of the 100 packages passed to apt-get has unmet dependencies, the whole command will fail ... does one know a way to make apt-get exclude packages with unmet dependencies?17:04
BluesKajtester56, I'll take your word for it 17:06
Riddellcor frameworks to be packaged http://download.kde.org/unstable/frameworks/4.95.0/17:07
Riddell"Steve Stalcup (vorian) renewed their own membership in the Kubuntu Members (kubuntu-members) team until 2015-01-11" yay v_ still loves us, feel free to get back into helping here v_ :)17:08
Riddelltester56: apt-cache policy python-pycurl and apt-cache policy python-pycurl-dbg  will tell you what versions are available17:11
tester56Riddell: but do you agree its an packaging error?17:15
tester56as I have never had an gtk-application crashing on kubuntu (maybe because I don't use much): what crash handler will show up on kubuntu for gtk applications?17:17
Riddelltester56: apport should17:32
Riddellalthough that might be disabled for releases17:32
Riddellso it might just disappear without notice17:32
tester56how to enable apport for all non-kde applications?17:33
Riddelldunno, this might say https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Apport#How_to_enable_apport17:45
tester56_/etc/default/apport is set enabled in trusty daily, so it should show up I suppose :-)17:59
QuintasanKDE Frameworks 5 TP 1 on 7th January ;_;19:20
tester56do you also get the following error when configuring a google account in kmail: "Resource IMAP E-Mail Server is broken. This resource is now offline"?20:22

shadeslayerapachelogger: btw does a project that does a release of their source but their development isn't done on a public repo count as a foss project?21:52
shadeslayerand does it meet criteria to be packaged in universe>21:53
apacheloggerit's free software21:53
apacheloggerwhat if I don't do version control but write gpl software, doesn't it get to be free software then? :P21:53
shadeslayerthis thing doesn't have a proper license :(21:53
apacheloggernot free software then21:54
apacheloggerwhatever you mean by proper licenses :P21:54
shadeslayerhttp://pastebin.kde.org/paf9z42rw21:54
shadeslayer^^ no proper license21:55
apacheloggernot free software21:55
shadeslayerack21:55
apacheloggerintelectual property lies with the copyright holder and the copyright holder did not extend any rights, so no one has rights to do anything with it21:56
apacheloggerkinda silly to put source out like that xD21:56
shadeslayerI see21:57
apacheloggeralthough maybe you could then sue someone and you'd have evidence that you had the code first (since you have released it you made it public knowledge that you have this magic)21:57
apacheloggernot sure whether that would stand up in a court of law though21:57
=== yofel changed the topic of #kubuntu-devel to: Kubuntu new year | https://trello.com/kubuntu | 4.11.5 WIP http://notes.kde.org/p/kubuntu-ninjas | bugs http://goo.gl/vHRjj | build status http://goo.gl/cjEFkO | ISO testing http://goo.gl/cRAawa `
