=== bryceh is now known as bryce [05:09] What's the difference between linux-generic-lts-saucy and linux-generic-lts-saucy-eol-upgrade ? [12:02] Hello [12:03] I've been suggested to come here from few users from #ubuntu [12:10] I am having issue with https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1244176 [12:10] Launchpad bug 1244176 in linux (Ubuntu Trusty) "Server 13.10 Install Fails with USB Keyboard (Appears to Hang)" [High,Fix released] [12:15] I might hop on later on tomorrow if you could have it by then [12:15] But ig not thanks for the try though [12:15] gotta run thanks [13:02] tseliot: right so yesterday it turned out that the problem was my own creation I'd somehow ballsed up nvidia-prime's config and it wouldn't uninstall, install or reconfigure even when using dpkg --force-overwrite. So I've done a fresh install of last nights iso. Still dropped to low gfx when I enable nvidia-331 and prime [13:02] apw, Hm thinking again about it we really only should the sub keyboard issue for the server image. IIRC we stopped doing alternate images (which was afaik the only other one using debian installer). Desktop/ubiquity should not be affected because that brings up a compete system with all modules, isn't it? [13:02] tseliot: what logs would be useful? [13:02] *usb keyboard [13:40] davmor2: if that didn't uninstall is because of LP: #1264611. And I have a fix for it [13:40] Launchpad bug 1264611 in nvidia-prime (Ubuntu) "package nvidia-prime not installed failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-removal script returned error exit status 127" [High,Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1264611 [14:00] tseliot: iirc that is why I couldn't remove it and it left it in an unconfigured state that really didn't want to be remedied [14:02] davmor2: installing dpkg-dev will work around that. I've also just pushed a fix [14:05] tseliot: there were a few other things I needed to test too with the install that needed a fresh start anyhow. I'll update in a bit and see if that fixes everything then [14:05] ok [14:08] smb, hmmm maybe ... maybe not :) [14:34] BenC, yo ... just been looking at rebaseing your ppc bits onto v3.13, it seems there are a couple of patches which need a little mangling but one which is totally borked on rebase; have you done any porting work as yet ? [14:56] apw: Not yet. I can look at rebasing over the weekend. [14:56] apw: Which patch is totally borked? [15:01] BenC, "powerpc/85xx: Add DPAA/networking support for P4080DS" seemed particularly affected due to a rename and rearchitect of the init bits [15:01] Ah. Luckily, I'm pretty familiar with having to rework that patch [15:01] BenC, a couple of the others rely on the configs for each machine being separate items and they ripped them out and went _GENERIC [15:02] as they use _HAVEs on the various machine defines to deifne feature sets [15:04] Hmm...I'm not following that, but I guess I'll see it when I get into the rebase [15:07] BenC, 'config P4080_DS' et al have been replaced with config CORENET_GENERIC [15:07] Ah, that makes more sense [15:07] BenC, once you have the rebase 'done' we can look to pull that baby back into master [15:07] * BenC is pleased with this course of action [15:08] it has to make things simpler [15:10] BenC, might make sense to push your rebase to like the ubuntu-saucy repo as a rebase3.13 or something then i can find it and suck it up on monday [15:11] apw: That works for me [15:16] infinity, heads up, i am building a fixed kernel for trusty in the ckt ppa, so it cna be tested first, but it will need copying out [16:12] davmor2: apparently linux 3.13 causes problems with nvidia + hybrid graphics... [16:13] tseliot: Yay! that'll be why it works for popey and not for me then :( [16:14] davmor2: you should really stick with 3.12 for now. In the meantime I'll ask NVIDIA [16:15] tseliot: can't I did a fresh install I only have 3.13 :) However it was working fine on the intel part so I'll just knock nvidia on the head for now [16:15] heh [16:16] tseliot: feel free to ping if you get a fix and want it testing :) [16:16] davmor2: ok :) [16:52] sforshee: ping [16:53] kgunn: hi [16:54] sforshee: (forgive me i'm a manager, so easier to ask than look)...is there a unit test for powerd screen blanking ? [16:54] sforshee: we're continuing to drive ourselves mad... [16:54] just hoping maybe there's a unit test for proving we're idiots and using powerd wrong [16:56] kgunn: I don't think there's a unit test, but really I'm not even sure exactly what you want to test [16:57] sforshee: i was just curious if there existed some basic functional test blanking/unblanking...checking results...stressing/out of order calling that sort of thing [16:57] sforshee: its ok...i was just checking [16:58] sforshee: i'm gonna get one of my guys to draw up a sequence diagram [16:58] kgunn: there's 'powerd-cli test' which tortures powerd via the dbus api in every way we could think of [16:58] of what we have...maybe you could review our thinking as well [16:58] heh [16:58] sforshee: thanks [16:59] kgunn: np [17:18] jsalisbury, can i borrow some of your time? can you look over recent precise / lts-backport bugs and see if we've introduced any nasty regressions in this last round of -updates? [17:19] jsalisbury, i'll so the same and ask sconklin to look as well [17:20] bjf: ack [17:23] bjf, sure thing [17:23] bjf - work off the "30 days report" ? [17:24] sconklin, yeah, that's my thought [17:25] bjf, any specific type of regression or just any regression in general? [17:27] jsalisbury, well .. this kernel is for the point release so anything that we would want to fix before it went into that release [17:27] bjf, got it [17:30] bjf, sconklin It looks like the "Last 30 days" report on cranberry is way out of sync. The one on people looks ok though: [17:30] http://people.canonical.com/~kernel/reports/30-day-new.html [17:31] I was looking at people, thanks [17:49] bjf, sconklin, after a quick search, there looks to be maybe two bugs that could be nasty regressions and should be reviewed. A third, not so bad, but worth looking at. Want me to send email with the details, or just post bug links here? [17:54] bjf, sconklin The two more serious bugs are bug 1265417 and bug 1267321 [17:54] Launchpad bug 1265417 in linux (Ubuntu) "crashed after install ubuntu and then click contuine testing" [High,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1265417 [17:54] Launchpad bug 1267321 in linux (Ubuntu) "Kernel panic Ubuntu 12.04.2" [High,Incomplete] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1267321 [17:54] jsalisbury, i'm happy with buglinks here [17:55] bjf, sconklin Another recent regression, but not as serious is bug 1267368 [17:55] Launchpad bug 1267368 in linux (Ubuntu) "FN+F5 - F6 not working" [Medium,Incomplete] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1267368 [17:55] bjf, sconklin And one that is not a regression, but looks like it could be an easy cherry-pick fix is bug 1262388 [17:55] Launchpad bug 1262388 in linux (Ubuntu) "8086:08b1 [Toshiba Satellite P55-A5312] Intel 7260 Wifi regularly crashes" [High,Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1262388 [17:56] https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1266005 [17:56] Launchpad bug 1266005 in linux (Ubuntu) "Computer started to reboot instead of shutdown after kernel update" [Medium,Confirmed] [21:01] infinity, when do 12.04.4 test images start getting spun? [21:02] bjf: Better to ask Colin, he's driving that. [21:02] infinity, ack
