BlurrorzHi Everyone!19:58
greetergreetings Blurrorz19:59
Blurrorz:D !19:59
greeterwhat's up?20:01
BlurrorzNm! Ive been trying Linux for a while now, A few different distributions, now im at Lubuntu! The smoothest ive tried so far (my computer is old lol)20:02
Blurrorzi might stick with it!20:02
BlurrorzAnyone running Steam powered on lubuntu?20:04
greeterlubuntu is what i use. this computer is 12 years old, simply doesn't meet the minimum specs for regular ubuntu20:14
Blurrorzhaha mine does but still run quite slow...20:15
Blurrorzi rather have it running smooth!20:15
greetersame here. that's partially why i looked at lubuntu. i was looking to migrate away from fedora when i found they were taking a ridiculous amount of time to fix bugs20:16
BlurrorzOk, i didnt know that :p20:17
BlurrorzThe last distribution i tried was centos.20:17
greeternever tried it myself. is it good?20:18
Danatois there a way to show mounted devices on lxde's desktop?21:04
holsteinDanato: they should show in the filemanager21:04
Danatoholstein: yes. it does. But I installed lubuntu on a computer that belongs to a person who doesnt know much about computers. And I think it would be way easier for her if there were icons on the desktop21:06
holsteinDanato: just keep in mind its the heavier filemanagers that typically manage that for the users, and lubuntu (and many other light distros) have gone with a lighter configuration... changing this can make the system slower, or potentially les stable21:09
holsteinless*21:09
Danatoholstein: got that, thanks21:10
holsteinhttp://askubuntu.com/questions/145087/lubuntu-panel-applet-or-indicator-to-display-mounted-volumes21:10
holsteinDanato: IIRC, thunar has settings to manage that, and its not "heavy"..21:11
Danatoholstein: sorry but whats that?21:11
holsteinDanato: what is what? the link? or thunar?21:12
Danatoholstein: thunar21:12
holstein!info thunar21:12
ubottuthunar (source: thunar): File Manager for Xfce. In component universe, is optional. Version 1.6.3-1ubuntu1 (saucy), package size 314 kB, installed size 904 kB21:12
holsteinanother filemanager that might offer what you are looking for in a more "native" way21:12
Danatoholstein: I think I'll try this ejecter, if that works well, im happy21:14
holstein!info ejecter21:17
ubottuPackage ejecter does not exist in saucy21:17
holsteinhttps://launchpad.net/~fredp/+archive/ppa21:18
koellHow can I change the sound when my battery fuel is low?21:20
holsteinDanato: that ppa is dead..21:20
ianorlinthere is a sound I haven't gotten mine down that far21:20
Danatoholstein: kinda noticed its old, and everything suggests me that its made to "safely remove devices"21:21
koellianorlin: I would like to use the alarm sound from stargate atlantis when my battery is low. this would be really cool!21:21
holsteinDanato: whats made to what?21:23
holsteinDanato: you'l want to unmound devices.. you can do that in the filemanager21:23
Danatoholstein: ejecter. I just want something that shows mounted devices on the desktop. So now I'm jst gonna try thunar21:24
ianorlinkoell don't see a way to do that in xfce power manager GUI21:26
Danatoholstein: just another thing, now Ive installed thunar, but how do I switch default file managers?21:28
holsteinDanato: you can (and probably for the sake of ease) leave them both in place.. but, it should be similar to http://askubuntu.com/questions/73017/thunar-as-default-file-manager-in-lubuntu-11-10-how21:35
Danatoholstein: thanks21:39
