Unit193Are we going to want to ship the patches in xfce 10627 and xfce 10626?  I have the packages built for myself since xdg-user-dirs-gtk now updates ~/.config/gtk-3.0/bookmarks.02:17
ubottuxfce bug 10627 in general "Use the new Gtk3 bookmarks location" [Normal,New] https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1062702:17
ubottuxfce bug 10626 in General "Use the new Gtk3 bookmarks location." [Normal,New] https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1062602:17
knomeUnit193, those sound like something we might want to use10:18
knomeUnit193, do you have any idea how the migration from gtk2 bookmarks (lts->lts upgrade) would go? user just loses his old bookmarks (unless he digs them up from the gtk2 bookmarks location?)10:19
ali1234knome: it works exactly like it does in gtk310:58
ali1234it checks for the new file, if not found it checks for the old file10:58
ali1234any time user adds or removes bookmarks the result is written to new file only10:58
ali1234so the new file gets created the first time bookmarks are modified10:59
ali1234we have to do exactly what gtk does if we use gtk file requester...10:59
ali1234the only possible problem with those patches is if someone compiles up to date xfce against a really old gtk2 version11:00
ali1234ideally it should detect gtk2 version and do something appropriate at build time, in configure scripts, but i never learned how to do that with autotools11:00
knomedoes precise have a "really old gtk2 version" ?11:02
ali1234probably11:05
ali1234https://git.gnome.org/browse/gtk+/commit/?h=gtk-2-24&id=de89546e30db83e6e10f72062b3b5c38814bb64d11:05
ali1234older than that = "really old"11:05
ali1234anyway, it won't cause anything worse than what happens now11:12
ali1234currently the gtk file requester and thunar bookmarks are out of sync11:12
ali1234unless you use "really old gtk2"11:13
ali1234after the patch that will be reversed11:13

brainwash_this bug is now invalid/outdated, right? bug 117311413:28
ubottubug 1173114 in xubuntu-default-settings (Ubuntu) "Xubuntu Raring desktop uses Quantal wallpaper by default" [High,Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/117311413:28
ali1234i guess so, yeah13:29
brainwash_I think it needs to be marked as "won't fix"13:34
brainwash_or is "invalid" correct?13:34
ali1234won't fix13:35
brainwash_knome: ^13:36
brainwash_generally I feel like "we" could do some clean up on launchpad (xubuntu related reports)13:37
=== J21_ is now known as J21
Unit193I'm using it at least, but didn't really have much to transition.  Seems like upgraders might lose standard bookmarks if they created any, but that's going to happen either way.14:11
brainwash_knome: and what is the agenda for old bug reports targeting xubuntu/xfce bugs in 11.10 and older?14:16
brainwash_should we request the reporter to reevaluate the report or wishlist request?14:19
brainwash_the goal would be to reduce the amount of reports, to give feedback and try to resolve pending issues14:21
ali1234Unit193: the problem with bookmarks is that gtk will migrate them anyway and probably already has if you're on saucy14:22
Unit193ali1234: Thanks for the patches too.15:01
ali1234did you see them on the mailing list?15:01
ali1234i have a couple of others which i think are more important, as they fix papercut-type bugs15:02
Unit193I think you poked about them as well, but yes, I check archives every so often.15:02
ali1234http://mail.xfce.org/pipermail/xfce4-dev/2014-January/030606.html15:03
Unit193Mhmm.15:04
bluesabrenearly done with catfish-1.0, if anybody wants to do some pre-release testing... bzr pull lp:catfish-search16:02
bluesabrealso, translators? https://translations.launchpad.net/catfish-search16:02
bluesabrefeedback on the refreshed look? http://imagebin.org/29046016:31
brainwash_bluesabre: looks nice and clean, almost like a file manager16:38
ali1234a bit too much like a file manager16:39
ali1234could be confusing. the filetypes thing looks like the bookmarks list16:39
bluesabreusually, the sidebar is not shown unless activated from the menu button17:04
bluesabreso, most users don't end up seeing it17:04

Noskcajbluesabre, yay for new catfish20:34
bluesabreNoskcaj: :)20:34
bluesabreI'll be releasing it some time today20:34
NoskcajI made a mess of the mugshot upload though, it got removed from NEW, but should be into debian later this week20:35
bluesabrehopefully before the 6th20:35
brainwash_feature freeze?20:36
bluesabredebian import freeze20:37
brainwash_does not affect sync or?20:38
bluesabreit affects automatic sync20:40
bluesabreso, saves us the trouble of packaging for ubuntu20:40
brainwash_ok, so things start to get serious20:41
brainwash_final release soon :)20:41
brainwash_do you think that you can get bug 1273896 solved in time?20:42
ubottubug 1273896 in Mugshot "Add accountsservice support" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/127389620:42
bluesabreI'll have a look at that today or tomorrow20:43
brainwash_currently my brain is washed from reading all the Xfce source code20:43
bluesabresounds dangerous20:44
NoskcajSo in the next few days i need to: update catfish, finish uploading mugshot, get a sponsor for at least gambc and xsane, finish packaging gnome-photos and -weather20:44
bluesabresounds like a busy time20:46
brainwash_https://code.launchpad.net/~thad-fisch/ubuntu/trusty/gnome-system-tools/sudo-group20:46
Noskcajyeah, at least my school laptop comes back today20:46
bluesabreI'm going to be pretty tied up this week, we have a new potential client visiting this week20:46
brainwash_I'll need to test my changes first before requesting a merge20:47
Noskcajbrainwash_, that's usually a good idea20:47
brainwash_it is20:48
brainwash_btw I cannot rebuild your xfce4-panel 4.11 package20:48
brainwash_I don't have the log right now, but it was complaining about gtk-doc20:48
Noskcajthe gtk3 indicator stuff is a mess. Hopefully we get some full releases soon20:48
brainwash_more delay =S20:49
brainwash_but it seems to work fine now, mostly20:50
brainwash_1 transparency issue unsolved yet20:50
NoskcajI'd be happy to put in the stuff as soon as it's released, since we've tested it well. But git snapshots of such a big package in an LTS is something that worries me20:52
brainwash_we could backport the needed patches20:52
brainwash_that's an ugly solution too20:53
Unit193Old stuff = broken and hardly standing on one leg.  New stuff = git snapshots which normally isn't great to ship, but may be the lesser evil.20:54
NoskcajUnit193, good point20:54
brainwash_but will trusty be stuck with xfce "4.11" for the whole cycle?20:56
Noskcajbrainwash_, I plan to get a lot of stuff into backports20:56
Noskcajonce 4.12 drops20:56
brainwash_that's great20:56
Unit193apt-cache policy  will show you backports enabled, but pinned lower than the rest.20:57
brainwash_too bad that Xfce is moving forward so slowly despite being so popular20:57
Noskcajyeah20:58
Noskcajfyi: A new debian update of thunar-volman just got uploaded20:58
Noskcajautoreconf + drop chrpath20:59
ochosievening everyone20:59
Noskcajhey ochosi 21:00
brainwash_hello ochosi 21:00
Unit193ochosi: Howdy.21:00
Unit193ochosi: Waiting on k n om e for the resizes?21:01
ochosiUnit193: either that or i'll do it myself21:01
ochosii actually asked him about the resolution we wanna use21:04
ochosicause one of the contributors pointed out that our resolution is too low for e.g. macbook pro retina21:04
ochosibluesabre: what resolution do you have on your laptop?21:04
knomeUnit193, nice21:05
bluesabreochosi: 1080p21:05
ochosi1920x1080?21:05
bluesabreyes21:05
knomeochosi, boo :)21:05
ochosihm, that's still comparably "low"21:05
knomeochosi, so...21:05
knomeochosi, all the rest of the wallpapers are 2560x* except solitude21:05
knomeochosi, i have no problem cutting it, just tell me which direction21:05
ochosithat's a bit too much like doing it myself :>21:08
ali1234i need 3200x1200 wallpapers ... i assume that's what you're talking about21:08
knomeali1234, for multimonitor?21:09
ali1234yeah21:09
knomeali1234, get lost. that's irrealistic.21:09
knome:)21:09
knomewe're not going to have that.21:09
ochosidunno, theoretically we could cut them that way21:11
ochosibut it would make them look really different21:11
ochosicreating multi-monitor versions in a separate package would be a solution, if someone agrees to do the packaging work21:12
ochosi(i'd have to ask the authors for their permission though)21:12
ali1234might as well just go straight to WHXGA21:12
knomeali1234, the sources for all the wallpapers aren't that big21:13
ochosiwe can rethink the sizes for the next contest21:13
knomeali1234, but seriously, you should have brought this up when we created the guidelines for the contest21:13
knomethis is the wrong time21:13
Unit193So yeah, it looks like if we manually update them rather than letting LP do it we can keep the strings?21:18
knomei guess.21:20
Unit193If you want to do that, it's pretty simple.  If you want to let LP and hope for the best that works as well.  (Or, if you for some reason want me to do it and you merge. ;P )21:21
knomeUnit193, last one sounds good21:22
Unit193>_>21:23
ochosiali1234: btw, you can use traslasierra nicely on two monitors, have tested it on 3840x1200 (just use it on each display separately)21:25
Unit193Done.21:35
ElderDryasI've been having problems installing 14.04A1/2 and dailies since A2.  As far back as 13.04, I would get a notification bubble at the end of the install process stating that space on /home was getting low (~140GB partition).  On the 14.04 installations, this bubble would popup early on in the process and just a bit later the install would stop (saying it was out of space). Xubuntu is the only distro that this happens on (not with Fedora, LM,21:41
ElderDryas SolydX, Slackware and Salix). The end result is that I can no longer install Xubuntu. Is this a known problem, (I can't find any mention of it)?21:41
knomehaven't heard of it21:42
holsteinElderDryas: do the stable releases install?21:43
ElderDryas13.10 does, with the notification bubble comming at the end of the process, but intalling21:44
ElderDryasQuite literally the end, I hit ignore and the install process finishes imediately.21:45
ElderDryasJust a thought, is "/home"  on the USB stick or the hdd ?21:46
holsteinElderDryas: on any drive? in any system? all systems of yours?21:46
ElderDryasI have one computer :(21:47
holsteinElderDryas: where did you put /home?21:47
ElderDryasI have used the same setup since 8.04, / = 8GB, swap =2GB, and home the rest ~140GB21:47
ElderDryasholstein: one hdd, partitioned as noted above.21:48
ElderDryasin that order, sda1 = / sda2=swap sda3 = /home21:48
holsteinElderDryas: you can try using the default setup.. let the installer partition21:50
ElderDryaswhy?21:51
holsteinElderDryas: you dont have to.. im just the kind of guy who tries things, and sees what seems to be causing issues21:51
ElderDryasSorry, didn't mean to be rude...the default setup doesn't set up a seperate home, which makes re-installs not fun :)21:52
holsteinElderDryas: im not suggesting trying it "for fun"21:53
holsteinElderDryas: how about this.. in VM.. can you recreate that error in virtualbox? you can mess about there and not "break" your setup21:53
ElderDryasOk, thanks.21:54
ochosihey sergio-br2 22:10
sergio-br2hey ochosi, hello22:10
ochosiknome, Unit193: we're getting the 2560x1600px version of bubbles hopefully tomorrow btw22:12
ochosi(currently it's x1440)22:12
Unit193Ah, nice.22:12
ochosisergio-br2: what's the status of your merge-request?22:13
knomeochosi, okat.22:13
knomeokay too..22:13
ochosisergio-br2: did you resolve all the things we discussed last time? i'd like to do a release soon, and it'd be nice to include your 96px work22:15
sergio-br2hum, not yet22:15
sergio-br2i fixed calculator icon, in 96 and 12822:16
sergio-br2and others things22:16
sergio-br2do you have a date for this release?22:16
ochosiwell, i can wait a bit longer22:17
ochosibut i'd like to get it done this week to the latest22:17
sergio-br2hum, ok22:17
ochosiall the places/ stuff would be nice to have ready22:17
ochosi(if you can manage)22:18
ochosiotherwise we can also push a work-in-progress22:18
sergio-br2all the places? Is 96 px folder icon good?22:18
ochosiyup, as far as i can tell it looks good22:19
sergio-br2ok, then i will start the others folders22:19
ochosigreat, thanks22:21
sergio-br2at least, 96 px folders maybe will be good to merge. Mime types i don't know... there is a lot of icons...22:21
ochosiyeah i know22:21
ochosiwell even a work-in-progress of those is ok22:21
sergio-br2ok22:21
ochosiplease file a separate/new MR for the places stuff when it's ready22:21
ochosimakes it easier to review and merge22:21
brainwash_sergio-br2: https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10656 is related to your whisker menu bug report "Drag-and-drop xfce panel..."22:22
ubottubugzilla.xfce.org bug 10656 in General "Dragging a panel window button turns external panel plugin black" [Normal,New]22:22
sergio-br2new MR? you mean new merge request?22:22
ochosisergio-br2: yup22:23
sergio-br2ok22:23
ochosity22:23
sergio-br2maybe at tuesday i will finish the revision of this merge request22:24
ochosisounds like a good plan22:24
sergio-br2ochosi, you want apps/96 in the same MR of folders/96 ?22:40
ochosisergio-br2: i'd prefer separate merge-requests22:40
sergio-br2ah, a MR for each 96 px folder?22:41
brainwash_sergio-br2: did you take a look at the linked report? I suggest that you update your whisker menu report, because the issue is not whisker menu specific22:42
sergio-br2yeah, i look, and understand now22:43
brainwash_strange glitch22:43
sergio-br2so, it happens with others plugins?22:44
brainwash_only with external panel plugins22:44
ochosisergio-br2: no, just one for everything you add in places/9622:44
ochosisergio-br2: but ideally a separate merge-request for stuff that's in other folders, like apps/9622:44
sergio-br2ah, ok22:44
sergio-br2is it possible to exclude some commit in the merge request?22:45
ochosione thing you can do is set up a new branch at the state where you last forked22:46
ochosiso that you're at the same state as elementary-xfce-master22:46
ochosiand then add your 96px folder stuff in one commit, then do a merge request22:46
