arg | ubuntu saucy 13.10 armhf/arm64 not creating dev nodes | 02:28 |
---|---|---|
infinity | Certainly does for me. | 02:31 |
arg | systemd-udevd is not creating /dev nodes. I have a few udev rules in /etc/udev/rules.d. But doesn't seem to create a dev nodes for those rules | 02:32 |
cooloney | infinity: hey, thanks for helping here, arg is my colleague, we met some issue about creating dev nodes for ubuntu arm | 02:33 |
infinity | cooloney: It functions literally identically to x86. Any variation would be either a kernel bug or badly-written rules. | 02:34 |
infinity | (And I have both armhf and arm64 saucy/trusty machines where I can confirm it's working as it should) | 02:34 |
arg | The same rules work for 12.04, 13.04 versions. Only for 13.10 I see this issue. Also, using the same kernel for both 13.04 and 13.10. works fine for 13.04 but not 13.10. So i guess its not the kernel issue or the issue with rules. | 02:41 |

arg | One main difference I see between these 2 rootfs versions is - /sbin/udevd used in 13.04 and /lib/systemd/systemd-udevd in 13.10 init scripts. | 02:50 |
infinity | arg: Yeah, it got renamed when it became part of the systemd source. | 02:51 |
infinity | Though, there's a symlink from /sbin/udevd | 02:51 |
