eduard!regression-alert16:33
ubottubdmurray, cjwatson, Daviey, didrocks, doko, infinity, jdstrand, pitti, RAOF, Riddell, ScottK, seb128, skaet, slangasek, SpamapS, stgraber: reporting regression in a stable release update; investigate severity, start an incident report, perhaps have the package blacklisted from the archive16:33
eduardbug #1262238 fglrx does no longer support "Mobility Radeon HD 4225/4250"16:35
ubottubug 1262238 in fglrx-installer-updates (Ubuntu Precise) "[SRU] Add support for the lts-saucy stack" [Medium,Fix released] https://launchpad.net/bugs/126223816:35
infinityeduard: With binary-only drivers, we're somewhat at the mercy of what upstream ships.  This has always been the unfortunate tradeoff we've accepted for updating them to support new hardware. :(17:00
eduardok, I see17:01
eduardIt is just that this exception is not mentioned on the "SRU" page17:02
infinityeduard: Alberto's comment on the end of the bug might at least be helpful.17:02
eduardand I "lost" my laptop during a normal update17:03
infinityeduard: It's not so much an exception as a sad reality.  For binary-only non-free stuff, we don't have much choice.  Shipping upstream's latest is the only way to get security fixes and hardware support, but they drop old hardware support willy-nilly. :/17:03
infinityBut perhaps Alberto could package up the legacy driver for precise to try to mitigate this for people on the 3.2 kernel.17:04
eduardthanks for your efforts describing how I can recover17:04
eduardI already know to do that on my own17:04
eduardit is just that I'm hesitant to alter my installation too much17:05
eduardaway from the official 12.04 LTS17:06
eduardsince this is a "production" workstation17:06
eduardI would appreciate if the legacy driver could make it into the 12.04 LTS17:08
psusiso it sounds like eglibc upstream is dead... will we be switching back to glibc?18:35
infinitypsusi: Yes.18:58
infinitypsusi: I'm probably not doing it for 2.19, cause I'm on some tight deadlines for trusty, but it'll obviously happen for 2.20, because we have no choice.18:58
infinity(Will be looking this weekend at doing it for 2.19, though... It might not be too painful to JFDI)18:59

Logan_want me to sponsor a sync?22:31
NoskcajJust sync it yourself, it's not lack of sponsorship that's making me not be motu22:31

Logan_the e-mail application system is very much broken :(22:38
Laneyit was never intended to be used so much22:39

NoskcajI can only apply by irc in summer (daylight saving time), if i wake up at 6am22:41
